But not in the sense of "she only loves you for your money". I'm just noticing that the young couples I know that can afford to go on vacations together — whether it be to some famous beach town in my country or even to Japan or Italy — seem to have a better chance of surviving. On the other hand, about half of the people in my friend circle, and they just happen not to have this luxury, just had their breakups in the past 2 months. I think I'm getting the understanding that I shouldn't be hoping for a secure 'til-death-do-us-part relationship until I manage to make good money for myself, which at this rate would mean me becoming an attorney and getting a decent position at least 4 to 5 years from now.
>>34778992marriage is historically not about love but stability, finances, land, cattle, agreements between parties, just about anything that isn't sexy.if you don't want to play that game, then don't marry but don't expect it to last forever (common law marriage can also screw you if the other person is devious, but that's on your end to sniff out over a decade). after being in a relationship for over a decade, the lust shit is far gone and even though you're often comfortable with each other and in life, the young life ain't coming back. love has a different meaning.but to answer your question, if you are broke, you're not stable, which breaches one of the fundamentals of marriage; so yes, they are much more likely to wonder about a better life in that case.
>>34779008A lifelong relationship is what I want of course. I think I'll completely forego the idea of marriage though — it's a nice gesture of commitment but I'd like the State to have as little of a say in my life as possible
>>34779027not sure how much experience you have but you're not really gonna know until you meet the person and in particular live with them. when you live with someone you really get a deep dive into their good and bad habits.just be wary if someone is a snake.a lot of times in a relationship people start to give up and go in cruise control as well, so it's important you're giving at least 10% into the relationship at all times and better if the partner helps keep you on your toes rather than ignores your problems. i'd rather be with someone that points out if i'm getting fat, look like shit or have a spill on my face or something.
>>34778992Being financially stable makes everything easier and avoids a lot of fights and argumentd that happen when you're poor. But plenty of rich people are unhappy and/or crazy and many poor couples stay happily married. Finding the right person who can handle stress with you is most important, but it is definitely easier with more money and less stress
