How does one gain the ability to feel deeply?

I used to be a very sentimental, profound, and easily moved person when I was younger.
Many years of wage-slaving seem to have turned me into a robot, I needed to empty my mind and discard all emotions to not shoot myself...
I went into full-time work as a musician three years ago, but I am still almost exclusively using ideas I had when I was 16, back when I felt everything from melancholy and joy in extremes.
How does one recover the ability to feel?

Are you willing to go through a mental and emotional breakdown?

you got older so you give a shit less about what's going on.
when you're young you feel everything and it's overwhelming which makes you fairly incapable of solving problems.
but now you got old and like gen x and baby boomers you've come to accept things as they are even if they're fucked.
the best way to resensitize is leaving the internet for good and living in the moment. doing gay chakra stuff like meditating, journaling. i wouldn't personally take estrogen, but im sure people to do feel their vagina chakra.

You just have to start talking about how you feel. How did you feel at work? How do you feel about your current life? What bothers you or brings you joy? Even if it's just a page in a journal you have to bring them back into the narrative of your life.

Feeling isn't a virtue, and extremes are always harmful. You should be glad that you've made a little bit of effort progress away from being the king of person who's easily led around by emotion, and move forward even more by learning how to care about things from reason instead of from passion. There's a deep, abiding, compassionate kind of love that's only possible when people choose to do the right thing because it's right. People led by emotion can only care about and act on how they feel, making everything they do selfish and without love or compassion. Beauty of character is only found in impartiality and unaffectedness, so strive towards that.
