Considering recent developments in that Sony is seemingly not going to walk back their all digital move (at least not yet) (I'm against this because of lack of resale market, lack of ownership, etc.), I've become severely depressed. But there are some games that could be fun for me, although now I don't even know if games in general are fun for me anymore. There is at least one game I am looking forward to (Spyro 4), although my excitement has been dampened by this and other bad things happening in the games industry. I have become more depressed now. What should I do? Gaming has much nostalgic and sentimental value to me still. Also, don't say "just play indie games" because they have their own problems.

i sold all my old video games and made thousands off them. the funniest part is how people don't even care about the disc/cartridge. the cardboard is worth 4x as much.
who do you need to collect cardboard so bad?
in 3 years you're gonna be playing spyro 5 digitally and not give a shit

Less plastic trash is a good thing. Nobody besides mentally ill speedrunners or redditors care about old shitty games. They're just gonna rot on your shelve just like your funko pops. Every well adjusted person will buy GTA6 on day one, digitally.

yup this.
i felt remorse selling all my old games not because i would regret not having them but because i realized the only way to sell them was to offload it to a hoarder and make it their future problem.
imagine your family, kids, relatives having to clean your plastic cardboard shit off your shelves in 50 years when you're dead.
just move to digital and you'll look less like picrel

First of all, I do not care for GTA, second of all, do you think I should quit gaming or what? I'm afraid if I do quit gaming people will judge me.
>>
Also, I feel like many old games are better than most new ones.

gamers are the most apathetic people on earth unless their game is being threatened. its like a bear that hibernates most the year.
your gamer friends probably already forgot about you while you made this post.
just quit if you're not enjoying it.

>they have their own problems.
there are a LOT of indie games out there. surely some of them will be to your liking. some of my favorite games of all time are fairly recent indie games. if you're too lazy to dig through shitty games all day just rely on other people's recommendations, the hidden gem threads on /v/ aren't terrible.

Well, fuck. Idk much about vidya but was gonna say something like that. Had to read your schpiel before getting to the end. I don’t get. Didn’t Sony just screw themselves? Having production and distribution capabilities seems to me the main thing that separates big companies from boutique producers. Isn’t there like a good third party controller. And operating systems without copyright and all that? Can’t games be a thing like on a platform, where you can tip creators and participants instead of bankers, owners and slave drivers?

Why would you be depressed about that? There have not been any good console games released since 2012. Also, people have been using Steam for 20 years and no one complained about games being digital.

I hadn’t really considered physical vs digital since I’ve been a PCfag for well over a decade now and just used Steam but this recent discourse unironically got me to buy a Switch 2. Yes the games run like shit compared to my PC and it’s a miracle they even get shit like Yakuza or Pragmata to run but I want to own my games rather than be a digital cuck forever.
I’m actively going to buy Switch 2 versions if they exist and I’m just gonna slowly move away from Steam. Incidentally this also helps me focus on work/study on my PC since I can keep my gaming in a different physical location

Frankly gaming should move away from graphicsmaxxing anyways. Orbitals and OoT Remake are gonna be fun and I’m looking forward to it
