I'm 28 and I've gone to Dublin Comic Con twice per year since 2023. I've cosplayed Edward Elric from FullMetal Alchemist and Dazai and Chuuya from Bungo Stray Dogs and 15-20 people always ask if they can take a photo with me. After they take they either leave usually or sometimes we talk briefly. The next Dublin Comic Con is this week. Is it possible to make friends with people my age at cons?
probably not with cosplayers, they skew younger, and an elric cosplay is basically a teenage boy which will cause some dissonance unless your babyface/height game matches up strong at age 28...it usually helps to goto meetups, discussion based panels, or to find a group ahead of time that is going and connect through their plans first.otherwise, voulnteer to work the con, the people who run it skew older and they probably need the help.

Years ago I made friends with a con crush, I was Kisuke and she was Senna. I brought my electric guitar and a travel amp and played things by request for people in downtimes like waiting in lines. Got her number and called/texted a few days after but we never went anywhere and now we've just drifted away, I don't even watch anime/game much anymore. Instead, I do nothing, and work to stay alive in a world that hates me. But it was fun times. Weeb vegas.
