I have had issues with focusing, wanting to do things / knowing & deciding what to do in my free time, and engaging both in my work besides the bare minimum and hobbies at all. So, I want to know if becoming engaged in things again, having a conscience that doesn't autopilot from one thing to the next, actually fees desire and fulfillment towards activities, etc is as simple as it seems to meFrom what I can tell, it all comes down to about 2 things1) Stop using social media / short form content / any distracting habitual behavior2) Allow yourself to be bored, not to try and be bored, but accept it. Either do task X or do nothing, don't respond to boredom with habits that suppress the sensationEvery source I have come across basically tries to suggest these two thingsIs this really all there is to it? I am asking people of /adv/ that live a productive and fulfilling lifestyle. This weekend, I felt bored out of my mind. Completely uninterested in doing anything, physically drained, scrolling endlessly yet not entertained for a second - not knowing what to do but wanting to do something, in the limbo of hell itself I basically just stopped and went into my bedIn a sort of "okay if you're bored of everything then do nothing" sort of way (not using my phone in bed) I l laid thereAbout 10 mins after having my face in my pillow I sprang up and felt my second wind, now I didn't really get anything done but it was certainly better than being slumped over in my computer chair like a zombiePoint being, I didn't give in to my boredom by doomscrolling, masturbating, etc and simply did nothing in that case until my mind tapped out and submitted to meDoes this sort of thinking make sense, don't doomscroll to free your literal time, give your mind chances of downtime, lower your tolerance to dopamineAccept boredom and view it not a sensation that needs to be instantly suppressed
Im gonna sleep now so hopefully I get some sort of insightful responses while I am goneIf I didn't explain things well it's due to character limit limitationsBut for now, I intend on putting my phone in my desk drawer at work tomorrow - I have a Monday routine that gives me about an hour or so of work while I wait for more to arrive, this downtime usually becomes scroll timeI want to either get ahead on other work, or do nothing, just chill and wait or work And to not mask doomscrolling by doing something else like idk surfing random news articles i dont care about on some work safe site
>>34787640i like t o think of it like a songlets say your modus operandi is a rock song. due to electronics creating tabs/apps/socialmedia/porn/etc, we are constantly maintaining a medium high beats per minutefor zoomers it's probably more like an edm song, where it's a constant highso what's the problem?you can multitask at a high bpm but you can only be so conscious/focusedconsciousness is an iceberg that is 10% aware 90% unconscious processes (for many people i'd argue it's less than 10% aware).so you need to change to a slow song to revert focus back on these things.that's why you cut distractions/social media.in a sense you have to be bored, because being bored gets you actively thinking of solutions.so you might have to go down to classical, jazz, or elevator music.just the way it works since we are humans, and therefore one degree above braindead.this is why retardmaxing is the way like your picrel. become bored, abandon modern, and regain consciousness
>>34787660Make sense, you need moments of down time to actually process prior events, be in the current moment, and anticipate what’s to come otherwise you’re just acting 95% unconsciouslyPerhaps on top of this I’ll try a meditation habit too, I’ve tried in a little and it seems ok but I know it takes time to work
>>34787716during meditation i try the 4x4 method4 seconds breathing in via nose4 seconds holding4 seconds breathing out through mouth4 seconds holdingrepeatthere is meditation methods for walking, standing, and sitting. i find it nice to do in the evening/morning sun cause thats when uv is lowest and red light is highest (which is good for you).even though its gay i burn incense to give a sense of time instead of a watch. i figured if the catholic church used it and controlled its trade in medieval times it's huwyte man approved as well (cope).i use annas archive too and downloaded an entire library of books through therehttps://fmhy.netbooks help me think better than anything. liberates my mind from the repetitious thoughts it wanders in.ereaders are nice but i have enough discipline with my smartphone now to just use that for pdf/epub bookskeep up the good work op. you got this
