What are some red flags that the neighborhood you're interested in is actually a ghetto?
>>34810434Male teens appear to be homeless
>>34810434Guys yelling outside.
>>34810434People stay just right outside their houses, probably play music all day
Crime rates
>>34810576Where do you get this information?
>>34810434use research and scientific method
>>34810434I need to know this
>>34810434How many brown people are near you, amount of trash on the ground, the quality of the cars that drive around you, how physically fit and youthful the people look. This is pretty universal.
>>34813205>How many brown people are near youA lot>amount of trash on the groundQuite a bit actually. I see people throw stuff on the sidewalks all the time.>the quality of the cars that drive around youSome of them look like they've been in a crash>how physically fit and youthful the people look. Not sure what that has to do with anything.By that definition Donald Trump is white trash.
>>34810434Walk a few miles down the sidewalk. If you see chicken bones left on the side of the road, don’t bother with the area. I’m not joking. You WILL see it in shitty areas.Drive around in the middle of the day and look at people’s cars. If they’re not very nice, ask yourself if this is simply a low income area or something different? Some semi-rural communities are pretty safe, just very low income in general.Go to a busy restaurant at lunch. Are these the people you want to live around?Check/cash advance buildings, pawn shops are always bad signs. How guarded are the liquor stores? If they’re just regular stores as you walk in/out with just a bit more security then it’s probably a nice area. If their whole fucking thing is locked down like Fort Knox for the customers then it is an extremely shitty area.Go to the grocery store you would shop at. You cool with shopping there? That’s my process.
>>34813966What defines a nice car?
>>34813966The problem with my city, is that, if you go just two miles in a different area, suddenly there's good people around. Then the next two miles? Subhumans.
>>34814329>What defines a nice car?You do. You’re looking at the crowd from a financial perspective. In my area, new European cars are the “nice cars” you’re going to see, then there’s the biggest part of the crowd with <5 year old cars of various make/model, then there’s are the young people and poor people who drive shitboxes. Notably, the shitboxes don’t look like they’ve all been in accidents. They just look like shitty old cars.If you went to a suburb in Texas then Bigass pickup trucks might be “the nice car” that you use as a measuring stick for everything else. Look at the nicest cars and what proportion of people drive them. Then the mid cars and that proportion (this should probably be the biggest section in the type of area you’re talking about), and then the worst cars (which should not be the biggest section or otherwise you’re in the ghetto)>>34814334This is also a very good point. It’s important to scope out your area in a 2-5 mile radius. If you find it acceptable then it’s all good. If you see shit that makes you say “uhhhhh” then keep lookin’. It’s brutal out there these days. I live in a suburb that has consistently had some of the best public schools in the nation. Now lots of underprivileged youths need that acksess to our resources and the demographics are changing FAST. I’m looking at houses farther out now. They’re putting up apartments at insane rates, ruining all traffic patterns with small city roads that can’t keep up, shoving in Haitians and shit as evidenced by all the Haitian “nurses” who showed up en masse overnight a few years ago. They’re trying to attract people from the city and give them walking paths to get here so we “get more business”>yeah business from the poor city people who have to walk a 15 fucking mile trail up here kekThey’re doing some school voucher shit that’s fucking up the fact that people who live here pay taxes for schools so they don’t have to live around retards.
>>34814347>>34813205don't mistake clapped bmws for nice cars op, shitty areas around me are filled to brim with those
>>34814347>pay for welfare for the parents>they send their kids to your schools anywayClown world.>>34814732There’s a huge difference between an older 3 series on a lease and a brand new 7 series with every imaginable package included. You definitely have to spot the difference and not just look at make
>>34815431You lost me, an older 3 series on a lease? How does a subhuman even get a lease?
>>34815434You’d be shocked at what goes on in some shitty car lots. What happens is the lease is written by the dealer with pretty much the explicit knowledge that the buyer cannot make those payments long term. But it doesn’t really matter because the buyer will make high payments for a while and then they’ll get the car back one way or another. Also, by “older” I meant 3-5 years old. the ones that still look new-ish and probably spent their first couple years in some business fleet or something. Obviously nobody is leasing the 90s models.
>>34810434USA?anyway, a universal red flag in western countries is groups of brown/black men doing jack shit, in the same place, all day long
>>34815440lol, I see that all the time. I never understood the need to hang around a bus stop or the wall or stairs of some building next to the street for hours and hours a day like as if it's a men's club or something.
Women walking and cycling about, men not doing those things.
>>34815451Over here, I have never ever seen the subhuman women on bicycles. It's always ALWAYS the men. Cause that's their primary means of transportation.
>>34815431Well, welfare comes from federal and state pots of money. The money that pays for our schools comes from property taxes in the county. We have super high property taxes and referendums to pay for more school shit every few years. We, the people in our area, pay for that very specifically. It’s just that advocacy groups can leave no pot of money untouched in their efforts to redistribute it among a different population. If anybody, in any way, is circumventing this system to get non-local kids in there, then there’s literally no reason at all for me to sit here and pay extra high property taxes. I’m just paying extra to have it skimmed for some other shit. So I’m looking at moving. Is what it is, I guess.
>>34815448no money for the pubno room in the shitty apartment where the 2 wives and 13 kids are crammed
>>34815506heh
I guess so
Any apartment complexes nearby?
>>34810434>neighborhood>ghettoMean the same thing in different languages.
>>34818664So are you pretending not to understand OP or do you want a compliment for your useless post?
im surprised no one has said, being section 8. anyways, being near industrial zones, haphazard urban planning, zero effort put into landscaping, very odd detail but low quality or broken blinds and windows that you can notice from the street, people that like hang out in the garage. is there a reason you can't visually inspect said neighborhood yourself?
A simple one is just trees. For some reason all the trees get cut down when a neighborhood turns ghetto. Not sure why poors dont like trees.
>>34820141I'm in a ghetto right now. It's surrounded by trees like a goddamn forest.
>>34820168Like a jungle basically
>>34810434Litter. Take a walk. Look at the street and especially at trees next to the street. I jave very high standards though.
>>34810434This might be my favourite type of thread. Discussing bad neighbourhoods. I don't know why it gives me such pleasure.
>>34823351>I have very high standards thoughTell me more about your standards please
>>34810434>lots of homeless people>syringes on the ground, lots of trash>shitty apartments, stores going out of business or just shitty low quality stores stuff like that. if the buildings and sidewalks aren't being taken care of then shit is usually half fucked. sometimes there's only like 1-2 apartments that are super dogshit basically homeless tier and it just rapes the entire rest of the nicer neighborhood to the ground>the type of people i guess. when you're young it's cool to live where lots of other hip young people live but later on it's better to move into an area where you see lots of couples with kids and older people as well. >>34815440pretty much this as well. dudes hanging out dealing drugs just doing retard shit all day not working not going to school being bums.>>34813966>Check/cash advance buildings, pawn shops are always bad signs.true.
>>34815451Nah, it's the opposite.
>>34810434Men who don't appear to be busy. Especially in groups.Gambling establishments.Payday loan establishments / pawn shops.School children not in school.Vape shops / phone shops.Graffiti. Trash.
>>34810434The biggest one is children playing around. If white children are playing around it's generally a good sign, especially if the parents aren't watching every single move or sitting out on lawn chairs.I always go around at 11PM-1AM Friday night Sat morning to see if ghetto/reggaeton is playing.Road maintenance, oil spills, landscaping. Look for towing company signs. Well maintained properties fine people who let cars leak. Is the dumpster hidden away? Is it reasonably empty or is trash everywhere, matresses and cheap furniture?>>34810601There's plenty of crime stats websites that will show you hotspots.>>34813966Seconded. Bonus if you go to the liquor store around 10PM.
>>34810601https://hub.arcgis.com/
>>34810434biggest one is how many fast food restaurants there are, and how much junk food gas stations or delis sell. like what kind of variety they have--if it's far-reaching, then the area you're in is a slum, i student taught in a shitty area for my undergrad and i was amazed at how much fast food i would hit if i swung a dead cat. like mcdonald's wendy's kfc and wingstop in the same square mile.
>>34823913I'm not sure I understand how that makes an area a ghetto. Some businesses and restaurants have congregated in an area where a large group of potential customers live? Ummm, okay?
>>34823807Oh?
>tfw found out there's like 20 sex offenders in my neighborhood
>>34827225oh shit... any of them female? :3
Hi guys which state is the best to move to right now? I've lived in southern Nevada my whole life and I want to move to somewhere with more rain and greenery, with decent Orthodox community and low nigger population. I will say though Las Vegas during Autumn is comfy as hell with lots of rainy days and nice tempatures.
>>34810434Chris Rock said if the neighbourhood has a bunch of unemployed women walking around it’s a good neighbourhood. If the neighbourhood has a bunch of unemployed men walking around it’s a bad neighbourhood.
>>34823913If you’re able to do laundry at the gas station you’re in the hood
>>34829185lol what?!>>34829194lol omg
Overcrowding, unemployment, crime, and the usual reactions to that. Six cars in the driveway/lawn of a house means it's overcrowded. But it also means they can get along and pay rent. Maybe it's a Mexican family, nice people, issue is indirect, it indicates rental stress in the area which is why their 12 kids didn't move out. If there's no public transport, is this a nuclear suburb where every household owns a car or does that indicate nobody leaves the suburb, none work anywhere, and city hall wants them to stay there. Does the bus route go to the governmental sector or the industrial sectors? Are the poor taking the bus to work, or to court? If people have low front fences is that because nobody steals things, or they wouldn't leave anything in their yard that's worth stealing. How many vacancies are there advertised? How many are private? Nobody bothers commercially advertising a rental in the hood because the rent isn't high enough, there's skid row tenants lining up, good tenants would leave straight away either way. The best tenant has an employer reference from mcdonalds, not a landlord reference from uptown, he's probably an alcoholic.
Bonus points:Bike chains left on fences and posts. Evidence of a bike stolen and nobody caring to remove it. Skid marks and scrapes on the curb, drunk drivers have been here, lived here. Evidence people are extending storage, multiple sheds, plywood, tarps over things, these people can't afford more space. Lack of parking enforcement. City wouldn't even bother towing someone here, nobody would bother reporting it, there aren't enough legal parking spaces in total. The local shops are busy during the day because of high unemployment. How busy is the mcdonalds drive through, Walmart, on a Tuesday lunch time. Are there even shops? In a rich neibourhood everyone "goes shopping", men buy or send groceries from where they work, there's no point building shops in places that are deserted during the day. The 7/11 in the banking quarter is they're for the cleaners, which is why it's 247. Nothing is open at night in the hood because everyone is home during the day and the streets aren't safe
>>34810434Idk, ethnicity? House prices? Government housing? Do you need to lock your door or guard your possessions more often?
Abandoned shopping carts at the bus stops
>>34832368lol I've seen that even in high class business district areas. I think it's just old grandmas that couldn't be bothered to return the carts.
>>34834810Oh really?
>>34813230>By that definition Donald Trump is white trash.should we tell him?
>>34832368What does it mean?
>>34823474Because being white fucking rules.
I guess some depend on what part of the world you live in. I used to work in a lot of shitty parts of my region, and these were common things I saw:>large amount and/or concentrations of public housing of any kind - doesn't matter if it's entire blocks, individual houses, or anything in between>police are always hanging around/driving past - they know something you don't>higher than usual amount of people who look clearly dishevelled (bad hygiene and grooming, cheap, dirty clothes, haven't brushed their teeth in a long time, etc)>front yards with numerous cars; none of which actually work>people getting around in broad daylight, clearly fucked up on drugs - other people around seem completely unphased by this>people passed out on the ground in public - locals also unphased by this>not as common, but people taking drugs in broad daylight>excessive rubbish/garbage on the ground; even if it's just in one or two places, you'll know it's not right>communal rubbish bin areas having rubbish strewn about can often be a sign of drug problems, as well>lots of very young women and teenage girls who are already mothers - fucking sucks that the only cohort not affected by declining birth rates are the most undesirable group in society>kids with shitty, ghetto haircuts>people fighting in the street or in/near housing/front yards>surprisingly high amount of grown men walking around in the middle of the day with nothing to do and nowhere to beAlso, don't underestimate social methods. People from neighbouring areas will tell you if an area is shitty; sometimes even people from that area will openly admit it to you. Or if you meet people from the area in question, and they have shitty, ghetto names, or even regular names, but with ghetto spelling, also a good indicator.
>>34839857>or even regular names, but with ghetto spellingLike Cydney and Ashleigh?
>>34810434Sneakers hanging from power lines
>>34840286Ashleigh to a lesser extent, but Cydney would fall into that category. Rebekkah is another good one.
>>34841115>Rebekkahlmao white trash
>>34810434As someone who moved into a bad neighborhood during covid and didn't really realize it was bad at the time.>More than like 1-2 homeless people around>Large adult population just milling around during the day (no jobs)>Teens roaming around during the day, not in the summer (dropouts/delenquents)>Cars with broken in windows>Buildings in disrepair: broken/boarded windows, graffiti everywhere>Walking around feels like a foreign country because nobody speaks the language, or they speak some dumb ebonic dialect>It's never quiet. There is always music playing or people screaming at all hours of the day/night.>Lack of local businesses, it's all chains, but like shitty locked down versions of them>Businesses that are there are all dispensaries, nail salons, massage parlors, liquor stores. Nothing like an insurance agency or real estate company.I lived in a tiny shithole above this loud ass Mexican bar for two years and put up with all that bullshit but I'm a big, scary looking guy and I carry a weapon so no one really fucked with me. Rent was dirt cheap but I'd never do it again.
>>34810434Too much black people living there>>34813230My brother in Christ Trump is white trash, he is just a rich white trash
>>34841362>a rich white trashI don't understand this concept
>>34810434How many left alone shopping carts do you see that arent in a store's parking lot?Are there any houses that look old and busted?
>>34814329How well maintained is it?It doesn't have to be like perfect, but if it looks like its beaten up to hell and back, like its held together with duct tape, that probably a bad sign
>>34841316Trash in general. I googled the name and the first result is a black WNBA player, if that's an indicator for you.
>>34843230lol kek
So what are some other red flags?
>>34848125I think everyone came to consensus and there’s not really much more to add. A rarity around these parts, surely.
>>34810434MLK Boulevard
>>34848717Oh my fucking god, there's a Martin Luther King Drive just a couple blocks from me.
If someone could take a powerwasher/hose and clean it, but nobody does, it's a ghetto.
>>34849918lol I'd like to see that
>>34848717>>34849054Is there a Martin Luther King Avenue?
