>Be Me>25>Fast food wagie>Perma incel>Living with grandma>No vehicle>No license>No life experience at all>Anxious and afraid all the time>Constantly getting stoned>Addicted to porn and video games>Want to change my life so bad>Feel stuck where I'm at>Just want to run away>Get stupid idea>Pack a hobo bag and walk to AlaskaThis probably sounds like the stupidest thing ever, but honestly the idea of doing this excites me so much. What are the odds I die in the middle of nowhere while attempting this? I'm by no means an outdoorsman or a survivalist, and I'm not very athletic. This would probably take me a long time, and I'm not against like.. stopping off in Wisconsin for a few months with a part time job. I just want to leave home, and I want to make it to Alaska at some point. I don't even know why Alaska. It just seems like this perfect sort of romantic oasis where I could run away and start over. Just be whatever I want to be. And I feel like this would totally change my life, I'd be forced to change everything about myself to even make it there. Is this a stupid dramatic idea that's gonna get me killed? Or should I chase this fantasy? I'm mostly concerned about being mugged / murdered along the way. I don't own any weapons or ways to defend myself. I wouldn't want to carry a weapon across state / national lines anyways. This is kind of a radical question, so I'll take any and all advice about any piece or part of this.
I forgot to mention... Moneywise, I only have about 3000 dollars in savings currently. I could amass a little bit more money if I continue working while I'm prepping / sell off all of my shit. I obviously don't have very many funds to work with.
>>34833520you should post this on /out/, they will probably give you a very simple picture of a certain cycle. My advice : analyse this picture deeply and think about it for at least a full week. Then come back and ask this question again
3k is enough to start with wall street options gambling. go check out wallstreetbets. I don't expect you to understand any fucking thing the people there are doing, but you could find a few users who are posting gains from time to time and track their active positions. if multiple of them are doing the same type of bet it will likely print money. verify what you are doing with claude and don't go all in.a better time and money investment than getting yourself killed like mccandles
I don't have advice for you, since I've never been in the US. However the closest I've done is going from Lyon (France) to Istanbul, sleeping outside most nights so I can give you insights on how it went :- I was fully equiped before leaving, and had done 1-2 week trips before with the same equipement so nothing to buy. (for the exercice let's say I had 600 euros total equipement + my phone). - I've walked about 4x5 days, with each week a day of transport and a day of resting in between walking sessions. Maximum walk 43km in a day (average 20km)- It has cost me 1,439€ total to go from Lyon to Istanbul : 212€ for transport (train/bus), 344€ hotel (once every 4-5 days), 770€ for every day expense, 170€ phone screen repair.- My trip was really cheap, I think I only could have made it cheaper by hitch-hiking, which I didn't.- I insisted on walking but bike would have more optimal in retrospect.Best of luck anon. Your goal is a noble one, my only recommandation would be to make a 1-week test walk to test your physical limits, equipement etc. Knowing and testing your equipement is super important.
>>34833520>Is this a stupid dramatic idea that's gonna get me killed?if you're planning on JUST walking, then yes, if you have zero experience. just go the Chris McCandless route and hitchhike your way there instead.
>>34833520Yeah, don’t overthink it. Hitchhiking isn’t cheating.
Can i go with you?
>>34833520Maybe instead just move somewhere with better jobs and population. Saves you the whole, dramatic attempt and then ending up not really liking this random ass place you decided to bumfuck innawoods at
>>34833520There's a very long highway that leads into Alaska. You aren't going to make it unless you're a badass survivalist specializing in tundra survival. From the Canadian border to Tok, the next "major" town into Alaska, you've got a day of walking according to Googlle Maps. 89 miles. This isn't factoring in travel from the US through British Columbia and the Yukon. From Washington to Tok, you're looking at a 28 day march. Just get a flight, brother. As cool as this journey sounds, you're not gonna make it. I had the same fesire to travel by land to Alaska, but in a Ford Focus. You're going to need your passport too to get through Canada. I wish you luck in life and pray that God sees you through, but this is a fool's errand.
>>34833588>if multiple of them are doing the same type of bet it will likely print moneythat's absolutely not true
>>34833520yes...be mebe 25unironically.board a plane from austria to portugal.leave all behind.good job with good career chances.become a hippie.first i thought: living on the streets is gonna be difficult. starving and all.turns out it is super chill.food is plenty. always. but it is humiliating to get it, sometimes. asking and so on.yes...and moneywise...i had always the safety net of going back to austria and get my flat and food and all paid for. so i was on vaccation on the streets, basically.you gonna learn a lot of tricks. try to be smart and have fun when being able to tell the pirate stories to your kids one day.i travelled to morocco to meditate in a cave. the story. i mean... this is like... top.you need a ... i guess by now they are 40€... but used to be 20€ tent. the cheapest 2-men tent served me best.then i know someone who prefers 2 iso-mattrasses.and you need some pot.you best have some alcoholic after-shave. so you can skip shower.and you best also have a sleeping bag.and a little lock you can lock your tent with. just so not anyone can easily access.anything else.. laptop, smartphone... i consider as extra.you will come to realize, you do not need money on the streets.also the laws of the street are faster than jurisdiction.i travelled with 7+bags. heavy. and auto-stopped. man... a lot of clothes and stuff... different shits. i can't even remember. food, also... just heavy. i had a burden to redeem, after all... self-torture to a degree...
>>34833520you should at least save up enough to buy a car and get a driver's license.
>>34834307man... he probably has a men-hating environment and gets spoon-fed all the shit so he has no necessity for even anything.you know this is all like a cry for help by his soul to find himself and meaning in life. most hyper-achieving men never realize how much of a mess they are.i cheer for OP.adaptation is always possible.
>>34834325Well he has a job so at least he isn't a neet that's completely dependent on his parents. I don't know how he gets to his job or anything without a car though. I visited that part of Ohio a couple times a long time ago and it doesn't seem easy to get around on foot/public transportation.I can relate to the urge to drop everything and move far away from everybody that knows you.
>>34833520Isn't living in Alaska like super depressing, with days in fall in winter being super short even in the southern parts? I know a few people who lived in northern Norway and literally all of them were on antidepressants at that time.
>>34834376I read that they have higher rates of suicide but it's more likely due to being in isolated remote towns rather than daylight (although it is a factor).
>>34833520Why not just do the Appalachian trail next year? Or move to Alaska? Like why do you have to walk there? Is the fantasy Alaska or the walk? I think it's a terrible idea. It'll take you like a year realistically with your experience level. Walking along roadways fucking sucks, and you're going to be all alone carrying a bunch of food through bear territory with again, no experience. You'd need a lot more gear than a hobo bag to make it.
>>34834490I think anon is walking because he doesn't have a car but he should at least take a plane or an Amtrak or a Greyhound. walking that distance would fucking suck.
>>34834499Exactly he should just take a bus if Alaska is the goal, and if walking is the goal walk somewhere else.
>>34833520The only way this could maybe make sense is if you planned to film yourself in hopes of going viral online
there are better ways to unfuck yourself. plus you'd give up on the walk part wayfaggot
>>34833594What year did you do this? How long did it take you?
>>34833520You can walk across America, the cops will give you shit a few times guaranteed. IDK if Canada will let you just walk across the border with hiking and camping gear. There are bears and shit in the BC/Yukon wilderness you might not make it thru there on foot.
>>34835282>>34835282I did this in summer 2025.It took me 29 days total to arrive in istanbul.
>>34833588Fuck you. Don't tell him to throw his money away.
>>34833520Well, how would your grandma react? Do you like her?
>>34835515There's a million and one things that can and probably will murder me on the way there, I'm aware. But honestly bears aren't really high up on my list of fears. Should they be? I was under the impression that bears mostly avoid humans unless they're literally starving or you go out of your way to enter their territory. Plus I imagine I'd have like bear spray.
>>34834499>>34834510>>34835065>>34834490Well I wanted to move to Alaska, but I'm such a fucking worthless retard I can't take care of myself at all. This walk is basically me throwing myself to the wolves (perhaps literally) in hopes that I'll sink or swim. Either I figure out real quick how to make it on my own, or I just fucking die in the noble attempt. Instead of growing into an old useless faggot in this piece of shit town.>>34834352It's about an hour walk to work, yes Ohio Indiana and Kentucky are all very shitty places to live if you don't have a carI can't respond to too many replies at once or 4chan will block my IP address ;-;
>>34833520Have you tried being serious about this rather than skeptical? I understand you're passionate about doing this, but if you really want to go to a different state you need to have a plan and follow through on it. You can't just do things at random and expect a result... Unless of course you have already walked to Indiana. You can win arguments all you want but until you get those feet moving I don't see much happening.

>>34834259I know you're right, this is retarded and I'd most likely not make it. I'm not HIM, I'm not the badass guy who can make it in negative 100 temperatures and build snow shelters and whatever else you'd have to do. But I also know that humans are extremely adaptable and I honestly don't know what my limits are because I've never been pushed. I don't want to needlessly throw away my life, but if I died on this journey.. I think I'd have lived a better life than if I continue on this way for 40 or 50 more miserable years. And there's a lot of miles between me and the Canadian border. Would probably be Hell just getting from here to there. There's no telling what I'd learn, how I'd adapt. Maybe I'm just daydreaming lol..
>>34836414Well I have to like.. sell all my shit first and tell my family about it, and figure out stuff.. this is something I've been thinking about for years, but I just last night really decided I wanted to do it. That's why I'm asking people for advice.>You can't just do things at random>but why haven't you left yet?I'm trying to make the plan right now ;-;
>>34834259>>34836429I'm pretty sure the mounties won't let you pass for just such a reason. They might not even let you into the country at all if you don't have any money and admit to being a hobo. Also. it's just not worth it. Walk some of it to get the experience sure, but a bus ride to Alaska will be an experience enough.
>>34836444Try making a plan in an educated, neutral, and plain way. If you're entertaining a dramatic idea in your head that is full of imaginative ideals you're gonna be met with disappointment. How about we start small with this. Why not try walking to another city, see how that is, then to another state, and then when you get that take a trip walking to Canada, and then go to Alaska. Do this while living at a friend's house before you go all out. Travel like that is expensive. Unless you can fish, camp, and hunt, we're talking tens of thousands of dollars. I'm thinking like a total of 50,000 for the entire trip alone since you're doing it on foot.
>>34834174Sure. How can I contact you?
>>34833520Sure why not?
>4,000 miles on footlol
>>34833520You are not him.
>>34833520You are having a classic psychosis episode, look it up, it's basically a trend at this point that a guy with nothing going on in his life makes a plan to walk across the country and either dies or gives up
Bruh you live in fucking Ohio no wonder you’re fucking miserable with no ambition. I’d be that way too. Get the fuck out of that shithole and you’ll feel better. Why don’t you walk down to Florida and go chill on a beach. Get a job at a bar and chat up some girls down there.
