Out of context you can find all sorts of contradictory lines, or for example, get the impression that he’s advocating for certain things when he’s really just countering our culturally ingrained notion that there’s something inherently bad about one thing and good about another thing. You have to read the full texts to really understand them. Not just quotes. You should also get a basic grasp on what those other philosophers thought too, or you won’t know what he’s talking about.
