I know this is horrid place to ask such question, but I ain't going to loonies on /lgbt/ for this.
Genuinely how do you talk to trans people? I've recently gotten into contact with someone who I'm 100% sure is one. And look, I am personally generally very amiable person. Good bantz are integral to relations between humans, but I've had my aggro streak, am now past it and generally don't try to actively be mean or unhelpful to people, unless they beg for it.
But also I have some very staunch views on this matter. Not "put them in the wood chipper" staunch, but the idea that someone declares themselves to be other sex and that overrides reality does not compute in my brain, and yielding will damage my integrity, I feel. In english this is generally non-issue unless you refer to someone in 3rd person, but in my native language it ain't so, and there's only so many word acrobatics I can do to balance on that rope.

Why talk to them ever, any more than absolutely necessary as required by employer or professor in a group project or something. Every conversation is a minefield and at least half of them are some kind of social gestapo, looking for any reason at all to obstruct your life for whatever views you have (or they presume you to have)
Get the pronoun mindfuck straight for them if you HAVE to interact with them. Zero bantz ever. They are more fragile than you can ever ever ever imagine.
They might act like bantz is fine but they will have an unbelievable meltdown if you accidentally step on one of the mines in their field of boundaries you don’t care about. Just be friendly and helpful but don’t engage more than the work which must be done.

Don't touch the poop.

Compassion is built on honesty. Meaning, you tell him the truth and refuse to play games with him. Identity is not a matter of personal choice. He does not have the right to call himself something other than what he truly is. Tell him to his face that he's a man, that he'll never be a woman, and that he needs to grow out of the phase that he's in. Not with the goal of being mean, but because it's what he absolutely needs to hear from every single person that he meets until he wises up and stops playing pretend.

This isn't work situation, sadly. If it was there would be no conversation, I'd straight away apply your principles: avoid engaging beyond bare minimum expected and play the stupid game, because as much as I'm big on principles, it's not worth having my real life and career imploded over this, they don't canonize you as a martyr over bullshit in corporate setup.
This is, sadly, situation I'm in semi-consensually, said person was introduced to me through mutual friend, and so far they *seem* (emphasis here, we know how it goes) like a good hang. And I do not hate them (insofar). Funny thing is if I wasn't in this situation myself, I'd basically give this advice as well >>34843402
>>34843403
Yeah, we'll probably have to have a conversation about that, sooner than later. I'm not too thrilled about it.
>>
>"hello miss, would you like to compare dick sizes?"
You're welcome.

>yielding will damage my integrity, I feel.
You feel wrong. But if you're going to be this much of an asshole about it, the only thing you can do is just not talk to the person at all, and not give a reason.

>said person was introduced to me through mutual friend, and so far they *seem* (emphasis here, we know how it goes) like a good hang. And I do not hate them (insofar).
You've got two choices here. 1) Stop being a dick about it and treat them like any other human being. 2) Never talk to either them or your mutual friend again. Given the way you talk about this, I think the second option is going to be the better one for you. But those are your only two options: let go of the hate, or let go of your friends.

Telling a man that he can become a woman is hatred. Telling him that he cannot do so and is hurting himself with his attempts is love.

Fuckin’ oof. First thing I’d do is sus how how much they expect you to know about transism. The more the expect you to know their lore and where their mines are placed in the malding-minefield, the less reasonable they’re going to be. If they’re even remotely understanding of the fact that you’re not trans and won’t be studying trans literature just to get along with them, then you might have a chance at lasting “peace”

No, he's completely right. Only asshole here atm is you.

I'm a boring, and possibly close-minded guy, in that every day I wake up and I find myself existing in reality and not solipsistic palace of the mind (which I would sometimes prefer). Some, more social, parts of the reality are up to interpretation, and that's fine, there's beauty in it. Some harder and colder parts are not, and there is sovereignity in fact that two rational people equipped in good will can agree upon these parts of real that are self-evident, and work from there, and this is liberating. Surrendering that under pressure is pretty damning for sovereignty and pretty corrosive to personal integrity and character. It is pretty bad when you are forced under literal gunpoint that 2+2 is not four, and doubly so I think, when you're forced to reject reality out of good will to another, that is very exploitative of another and I think path this puts you on is pretty damning. There are some situations in which this is to some extent more acceptable, based on factors and personal preference (aforementioned situations at work, or say, you have a grandma with Alzheimers who is convinced it's 1970's again, I guess it is okay to play along as grandma is not fully there, cognitively, and there are no power dynamics involved). You're free to disagree, I might even be wrong, but it's pretty sound logic to me, pertaining sth important.
>If someone decided to misgender you based on their idea of your identity, would it feel nice to you?
I wouldn't care very much, it'd be at most a tad weird, I'm fairly sure of my identification as objective, whatever I may think of it.

The crux here is that I am genuinely not in it to bully that person for my kicks, if it was possible I'd avoid touching that topic wholesale. I understand that life is probably tough enough on them as it is. But this is important thing to me.

>when you're forced to reject reality out of good will to another
It's worth noting here that good will and truth always go hand in hand. Meaning, you cannot have good will towards somebody while offering them a lie. The people who enable gender delusions are doing so out of ill will, not good will. They do it because they're afraid of losing their own social standing, not because they care for the well-being of the deluded. Someone with genuine compassion will always attempt to lead the deluded away from their delusion.

Some people aren’t worth talking to. Trannys aren’t people. Do with that information what you will.
>>
>>34843468
This, sort of, but for a completely different reason.
Any friend group that accepts any trannies isn’t a friend group worth being in. Trannyism has swept through nerd communities the way crack did through Chicago in the 80s. Normal people need to stop repressing parts of themselves to be meaninglessly accepting and withdraw from those situations. Nobody actually likes the trannies or thinks they’re real women- everybody’s doing it for fear of social punishment and to preserve other relationships. At a certain point you have to realize this is how trannies exercise such wide social control despite being such an insanely small population. Just withdraw and eventually others will follow suit and then the trannies can be back to their own groups without infecting the rest of ours.
>>
>>34843391
You don't.
>>
>>34843645
This. Men are logical creatures. We seek rule based order. Trannyism is objectively a false reality. A male cannot simply become a woman by changing the way he dresses and/or shaving down his penis into why he believes to resemble a vagina. If a tranny is allowed into your rules and reality based collective then it is no longer a rules and reality based collective. Contrary to popular belief, it is possible to have standards, speak objectively and defend truth as a social loser. Being a social pariah takes courage which is something many nerds lack. A chud is merely a nerd who is capable of projecting courage in the face of inane faggotry (trannyism)
>>
>>34843665
I agree to a large extent but I don’t think being a pariah is the only alternative here. The issue, I think, is a lot of people think they need to constantly resist those things with which they disagree. It’s better to be like water and just flow around it. Slip in and out of smaller social circles as you move through life and do not comment on them. Just scope stuff out. I think there’s a difference between repression and choosing your battles. Lying to fit in is repression of yourself. Simply saying nothing and then flowing on through to another group of people is choosing your battles effectively. No reason to fight through it.
Trannies really are not that common in rl, you know, so it’s not all that hard to find groups without one. It’s just that, like you said, having even one in the group is language police crackdown territory. They own the group every time.
