Is it possible to maintain an interest or do you inevitably lose interest in it after a few weeks to months?

I became pretty interested in motorcycles and was keen to get my license recently. Was pretty serious about it. Two weeks later I've all but forgotten about it and I'm interested in nothing again. Just the most recent example

you didn't actually get a motorcycle so i can see why you lost interest. that or joining a motorcycle club may respark it.
it's like getting hyped for a video game that gets continuously delayed. at some point you'll move on if there's no tangible results.

This is true for sure though it's not the only issue.
I suppose one thing I find makes a difference is having people to talk about it with
But I wonder if it's possible to truly maintain a hobby or interest over a long period. Inevitably you run out of things to do or learn about it or get distracted by other things.

Well yeah if your goal takes more than a few weeks or months to achieve then you best keep being interested in it to achieve it
