I'm 30 (31 next semester), i have nothing for me. I'm going through a life crisis. Is it worth it to go to uni to study history (or something related) or nan. I want to learn things. Problem is obviously money and I barely have any work experience
>>34848990I'm 29 but I'm going back to study medicine. history doesn't have many jobs outside of uni or teaching so keep in mind the career paths.
>>34848990Being a man and going into college for liberal arts right now is a fucking NIGHTMARE. God forbid you’re white too. Pick hard STEM or just do something else. I mean, you can spend your own money and time to find out but I promise you that you’ll be fucking miserable as you get put through the humiliation ritual ropes and get graded harder than anyone else just to make sure you don’t excel too much. At least STEM classes have flagrantly right/wrong answers that would have to be defended empirically by the professor if you thought the grading was unfair and escalated the issue. Truly, liberal arts will have no academic recourse for you when you’ve found out what’s going on there.
>>34848990>Is it worth it to go to uni to study history (or something related) or nan.no lmao that's a useless degreeAI is going to wreck white collar/office jobs in the near future.Get into a trade.
>>34849061>Pick hard STEMdon't even do this bro unless you were clearly gifted outta HS, and if you were , you woulda done it the first time.
>>34849183Oh that’s fair. I guess I didn’t consider talent an issue because it was passive for me. I was the fag who thought calc2 was a fun class and asked derailing questions during lecture because I read the book the night before and knew it anyway. That pissed off a couple other students pretty bad once. I don’t know what the fuck they thought they were going to learn about calculus literally the session before the midterm, though. If you don’t know it then you’re not about to start kek.But yeah if you can’t do calculus then you can’t be in a STEM program worth being in. Asking questions to troll the professor was always fun too>wait, how can we have an integral below the x axis here? Doesn’t that calculate out as negative>”…yes, anon”>but it’s an area under “above here but ultimately defined by” a curve so how can it be negative? I can’t imagine a square with -2 as an area, for example>”anon, we are calculating a value here and the value can be ultimately negative”>uhhh okay but how can we abstract that away from area being a part of the fundamental theorem of calculus?>”anon.. what the fuck are you talking about? Talk to me after class if you want to continue this”>kek
History jobs literally don't pay shit unless you're planning to teach it.>t. originally wanted to teach History at the High School / College level before realizing I was socially-inept around the students and hated the Grading / planning aspects along with working with Education boards
>>34849268Are there really no other career paths in the field of history?
>>34848990My advive is that you should go to university to get a degree to get a job. If you want to learn something, like history, for its own sake, don't bring a university into the mix. There are books and lectures on Youtube and history profs generally like reveiving emails from the public asking questions
>>34849321Reenactment groups and museums hire every once in a while. Just keep in mind pay is average and you're likely going to have to travel somewhere else if you want a realistic chance at finding a job AND getting hired
>>34849641Why shouldn't he bring university into the mix. Other than learning it's also a good place to socialize.
>>34848990History and psychology minor could be lucrative and very useful.
