When I was gardening three days ago, I came across an animal bone in the heap of soil. I can't remember the exact details, but I'm thinking I might have touched it. What's the chance I got rabies from it, because I can't remember if I scratched my body or ate without washing my hands?

You shouldn't have done that.
rip, bro

the quicker you get to the emergency room the better. supposedly the

Supposedly the... what?
I'm not sure if I'll be laughed out of the emergency room, though, since I live in Finland and they seem to only take rabies exposure seriously when a living animal has been in contact with you.

I thought finns weren't pussies

You've heard wrong then, but my ethnicity has nothing to do with this.

Rabies is unlikely, but tetanus is a possibility.

To give you more details, this bone was in a heap that's basically a container my grandpa keeps for soil. It's protected from sunlight and no animal can get in as it's in a box. Presumably, the bone was there for at least a week(?) or a couple of days. It was also completely skeletal and there was no tissue on it.
Could rabies survive that long? Google Gemini is telling me that there should be zero chance, but the soil is fairly cool...

0% viruses die in a couple of days outside the body.

Not human related, but parvo can

I repeat: rabies is very unlikely, but tetanus is a possibility.

Rabies definitely can survive in animal remains, even for long periods of time. Maybe not from the original host, but there's a chance a fox or a badger with rabies licked it.

It was right next to a forest, the lid was open, and we know that there are foxes. Fuck.

What should I do to rule out tetanus?
>>
Should I tell to the professionals that a bat bit me.

>Oh yeah did you can’t touch anything that’s been outside near a forest. A rabid fox might have licked it
Fucking bro. Being a hypochondriac and then showing up here and getting spazzed by other hypochondriacs is genuinely unbecoming.

>hey grandpa, anon is malding outside that he has rabies!
>*grandpa jumps out of chair* “what the fuck? I thought he was working in the garden like I asked??”
>he is! He found a bone
>”…okay?”
>like an animal bone
>”…yeah?”
>it was underground. It’s completely clean.
>”right so then why does anon think he has rabies now?”
>we are pretty sure a fox may have licked it at some point
>*grandpa schlumps back into chair* “oh”

It would truly be an astronomical event considering the last non-bat wild mammal with rabies in Finland was found in 1990s. It'd mean a Russian animal with rabies somehow sneaked into Finland and eventually infected a fox that somehow happened to prowl on anon's grandpa's garden and happened to lick a bone in a soil heap.

I meant that a fox might have ran by and licked on it. I went inside to eat for about an hour, and the soil container was unlocked. We've sometimes seen foxed playing.
>>
>>34852032
Well, did you see a fox?
>>
>>34853152
No. But we know that a fox family does consider it their territory. The area might also have raccoon dogs and badgers.
>>
>>34851013
Hm just go to a doc and get a test
>>
>>34851013
No
>>
>>34853301
What are you so afraid about then? Why do you think the fox family would just stop and chew on an old bone. Wouldn't you think they'd pick it up and carry it a little and not leave it there?
>>
>>34854299
The fox may have just licked it and left it there. It may be contained without them taking it away.
>>
>>34854586
How do you know a fox may have even licked it? How can you prove that? Did it look like somebody had licked it?
