If your wife isn't obese, have her sleep next to the baby, this will stop her from screaming.
research how to approach "cosleeping" in a safe way without risking rolling on the baby.
If she sleeps in a crib she will cry nonstop and you won't get any sleep
>>
1st year:
Change a few diapers, make sure your wife has all her basic needs met, manage anything that might kill the baby (some aren't obvious like being close to a heater) , play with the baby a bit every day to keep her calm.

Cosleeping doesn't stop crying. It kept everyone at our house from getting getting enough sleep from having to move throughout the night. When they're old enough to sleep in a crib let them. The first few nights will be crying nonstop . Pull all nighters playing video games and ignore it if the kid's needs were met. The crying stops in a few days and they learn soothe themselves to sleep. If they keep cosleeping they don't do it on their own.

we're thinking about doing cosleeping in the first few months and also we bought a small baby bed to put in between us 2. but she will still wake up crying I think

>what am I in for for the first year?
Enjoy every fucking second of it, especially the first months. Blink, and you'll miss it.

Parenting advice goes in and out of fashion. Things one book or person will tell you get contradicted by the next person or book. The only advice I wish I'd heard before hand is to learn the lyrics to nursery rhymes (or any song you want to sing to get baby to sleep) beforehand - you can't read lyrics in the dark.

>am I gonna be able to sleep at all?
Yes. You and your wife are a team. One sleeps, one deals with wailing baby. Take turns.
