Hi /adv/ I mostly lurk here but I’ve reached a point where I don’t have many resources to talk to. I’m 21M (trans specifically..) and I struggle with pretty bad paranoid schizophrenia. Sometimes I can’t leave my room during harsh episodes but I want to get over it. It hinders me where I don’t even have my license yet in fear of seriously hurting myself or others. And I want to be able to live on my own but I can’t because I haven’t proved that I can live alone safely. Any ways to cope?

Have you ever tried therapy to learn skills to deal with your episodes?

Cause it isn't clear what you have an haven't tried in order to fix your situation.

Also you don't live alone so how is your relationship with these people?

Lastly you need to explain what an episode looks like to you. Cause we don't know so we can't give advice tailored around that info. Which is key to giving you the best advice possible.

Sorry I wasn’t too specific T-T I used to be in therapy but my insurance no longer covers it and I’m only able to work part time at the moment.

I live with my parents at the moment, they don’t put much pressure on me most of the time but my father has a horrible drinking habit that has already run me out of the house twice now,

And lastly my episodes put me in an almost fight or flight reaction. Moments like these my reality is entirely warped, and it feels like I’m surrounded by people that don’t exist and every single move will end in my demise. Like in an instant a room that was once empty feels like a tightly cramped elevator filled with people yelling at you. But because of all the mental noise I can’t bring myself to do anything out of fear that I’ll act out

depending on where you live, there may be low cost options for you to get treatment. look up "community mental health clinics" or use https://findtreatment.gov/ if you're in the US. the prices are often based on your income so they should be affordable if you aren't too unlucky. alternatively, if you're a student, universities often offer mental health services free of charge.

>used to be in therapy
Okay, and what sort of skills or tools did it teach you on how to manage your life?
Cause to be frank it doesn't sound like it helped all that much.

>much pressure on me
That feels like a good thing but its a double edge sword. Without pressure why would you change? With too much and you feel like you're drowning.

>drinking habit
So how are you with drugs? Have you fallen into the same hole? You dont have to answer me but you do have to be honest with yourself.

>lastly my episodes
This falls firmly in the realm of medication. Your brain chemistry is not working correctly, its failing you. There are solutions but they probably require outside intervention. Even a dog trained to deal with schizophrenia would be better than what is currently going on.

Realistically you need a better support structure in your life. What does it currently look like?
