>See fucking 15 year olds who draw like Leonardo da Vinci through “just practice”
>See people who never improve despite drawing for years.

So which is it? How do actually get good at art?

same as any other skill. if you don't like your art, you can probably point to what you don't like about it. look at your weaknesses and practice improving those while also finding ways to lean into your strengths.

There are frameworks for improving at any skill. Whether it be art, music, maths, competitive sports, cooking... doesn't matter.

You need to learn how to learn. That's one of the things you get out of university. But it's also drilled into you if you ever take music or sports lessons. I'm guessing you didn't go to university or play any instruments or sports? The framework is much the same.

If you enjoy drawing, you'll draw.

AI is here so there's no point learning your craft anymore

"Art" is actually academically speaking, extremely advanced topology and calculus. The artist is basically creating a wave and the brain looks at the wave and says "those scribbles are furry porn". basically you're not going to be able to "guess the trick" of art, it's extremely technical which is why it is academically interesting.

Everyone being retarded about art is just running a brute force algorithm, which is to say, they're not actually drawing using their brain at all, they just sip large quantities of redbull over 18 hour shifts and brute force trial and error for weeks at a time to get those results along with some hand/wrist injuries. Actually smart people that draw, typically know several advanced concepts at the same time, but ultimately the athleticism aspect is just what decides who can even get results to begin with.

TL;DR how to get good at art
>know that the result of art uses several advanced STEM principles at the same time
>you don't have to learn these STEM principles since you can bruteforce every result with trial and error

People who look at your art can only see what they are already familiar with, which leads to a variety of trends in art:
>pretty swirly gibberish that is pleasant to look at for no reason at all e.g. "geometric patterns, gradients, curves, dots, random brush strokes, texture etc."
>memes that people recognize and attach labels to based on a neuropsychological involuntary checklist e.g. "this is giving boss baby vibes, this is giving ps1 aesthetic, looks like bad anime, looks like overwatch, etc."
>bruteforce labor where the strain is the price value e.g. "render every blade of grass, photorealistic horse, photorealistic grandpa, 900,000 rocks, crumpled wad of plastic bag, etc."

Basically, the only difference between good and bad is that the ratios are wrong. Either edit the bad thing until it looks good, or edit the kinda good thing until it looks even better. that's it.

drawing is just like any other exercise if you only ever run 5 miles you can only run about 5 miles

A perfectionist mentality is the least you need. If you have one, you will never improve.

If you're autistic, you should learn perspective. If you have ADHD you should just draw. If you have time, draw live, study anatomy, copy pictures and recall. If you don't, copy a style like a shitter.

The most important thing is to enjoy drawing and have a lot of ideas.

t. dumbass who drops everything and has attempted to draw lolis for 3 years now and still can't put the eyes at the same level.

If you have to ask just don't
You don't have the eye for it and neither the will to hone one
>>

those are both true

you have to practice right

like you can lift weights in all kinds of retarded ways that make you strong now and give you crippling bone and joint pain when you're old

good practice is good

bad practice doesn't help anything
