We are "weirdos" in today's society. conservative, self-sufficient, frugal, non-consoooomerist, farm/ranch lifestyle. our interests are our home, land, livestock, infrastructure and things that pertain to or can be done at home. we raise and butcher our meat. we grow our gardens, preserve, prepare and cook food. I build our pens, outbuildings and install systems within. wife occasionally brews wine, I build/repair things and sometimes we play Baldur's Gate 3 on a Sunday.

we have one married couple set dor friends, but rarely see them in person. the wives are the actual friends, husband and I are just friends of convenience. friend drives my wife crazy because friend thinks she knows everything about everything and does everything better than everyone else.she *is* a genuinely nice person, but just grating to be around for any amount of time.

our hobbies revolve around productivity and improvement. our individual hobbies are tiny and fleeting (she felts, sometimes i shoot, archery or build useful furniture, electrical ((solar)) systems or contraptions). we uave no social circle, do not attend church, and our interests are not interesting or particularly inclusive to others. what are we supposed to do "Hey! wanna come watch while my wife murders a sheep, rips it's skin off, and cuts it ino pieces? after that, you and I can install a solar powererd mini-split in a barn I'm building! if there's any time left over I can chop wood and we can all stack it together. then we can eat animal meat that tastes strange to you because its not Mega-Low-Mart beef or processed chicken nuggets. you can have a scoop of sheep milk ice cream if you finish your mutton."

Try talking to middle aged men in the hardware store and ask them about their ongoing projects

Your entire identity is consoomer. You may be self sufficient and consumption efficient in ways most other households are not, which is admirable. But your whole day is either entertainment or preparing what you're gonna eat next or what alcohol you're going to get drunk on next. You don't make an effort to engage with others very different from you. You don't seriously engage with arts or the realm of the mind.

I see no mention of recreational reading. This is inexcusable for any modern man that has a computer and the Internet. If you just forgot and you actually do have reading as a hobby, guaranteed there are people you can connect to over that.

Get good at a craft. Produce something people will pay for or enjoy
>>
>>34891254
I'll be your friend. can I fuck your wife?
>>
>>34891254
Bars/clubs/concerts/ partying in general sounds like its a nice contrast to your lifestyle and gets you out oamong people.
>>
>>34891326
I mean, everyone has to buy things. ours just focus inward on improvement rather than just adding another plastic wiggle-head doll. you are right we dont "engage with the arts". we see no point. my "relm of the mind" is engineering, infrastructure & construction projects at home. we have already toured the country & visited many art, space, engineering and history exhibits. now we are married to our farm. of course we read. I just finished 3 heinlin books last month. I just assume that is a given, so i didnt itemize it. wife has a few crafts: cheesmaking, soap making, pressure canning, freezedrying, fermentation, breadmaking, baking, gardening and hide tanning to name a few. mine are all construction/building/engenerring related.

we just dont have the desire or tolerance for loud people in loud places. we dont want to listen to people brag about the debt the accumulate to impress people they barely know and dont even like. we dont overpay for food, drinks and sounds we can produce better at our own home. despite sort-of wanting to find some friends, we dont really like being around other people. we dont want crowds of zombies. we want a pair or very small group of actual friends with productive lifestyles and interests that compliment ours.
>>
start a chess or a book club with your neighbours
go group hiking
join a cooking class/gym/joga together

Join activities nigger, friends won't just appear at your doorstep
>>
>>34891254
We have the same lifestyle except being conservative, no one likes being around you, and you know it.

we dont really have "neighbors" the closest thing we have to neighbors are horrible fucking people. constant trespassers that let their pit bulls run roughshod on our property attacking our livestock. we tried to be civil with them, discussed and forgave the first 3 instances, then we started calling the law after their dogs destroyed our chicken coop and injured one of our sheep. example of current situation: our 70kg çoban almost killed one of their dogs last month in our pasture. (picrel to show exactly what caliber of people we're dealing with)

wife does not want to drive 50km one-way to a cooking class she can watch and rewind in her own kitchen for free on youtube. we have no desire to pay to run on a sweaty hamster wheel or get foot fungus in a public shower. she/we do yoga in our great room for free, with youtube, again, saving us the fuel and wasted time of going to town for something we already *enjoy* in the comfort of our home.
>>
>>34891843
>çoban
lolwut?
>>
>>34891882
That sucks. Where I live you get one warning. Next time you see the dogs you shoot them.
>>
>>34891906

its been absurd. i was very calm and pleasant the first time. second time I was calm but serious and made some suggestions on radio/gps/shock collars and other options. 3rd time my wife came running out of the house in her bathrobe to stop their dogs *and pigs* from chasing our barn cats and rooting our garden. WHILE THE FUCKING HUSBAND COMES RUNNING 200m ONTO OUR PROPERTY YELLING AT HIS DOGS AND PIGS that do not respond to him and that he constantly fails to properly fence or restrain. that time I told him it stops or I get police involved. the next 10 or so times I have called the police, shot at one dog but missed and finally last month çoban was out with the sheep and I just told him to attack it. i would guess he outweighs their trash-pit by 35kg.

it's crazy. I have a video of the husband and the hamplanet screaming like psychopaths after I yelled at their daughter when she let their fucking weiner dogs out and they came after me and my sheep while I was in pasture with them, past the çoban radio barrier fence. they threatened to "shoot all of your fucking animals" not knowing i had installed a camera near the property line where they were acting like fools. i provided that video along with 4 others of various trespasses to the police. the police told them from that day forward if i provide video of k9 trespass, they can and will shoot the dog as a livestock threat and if anything ever happens to my animals (poison, gunshot, animal attack) they have ample evidence to pursue a strong case of their own with them as prime suspect, in addition to civil case i would almost certainly win.

move rural to be productive and be left the fuck alone...

sooo... how do I make some friends? lol
>>
We have one friend who comes over to chill out and smoke every 6 months or so.
You're going to have to accept not living in the city.
>>
>>34892380

we havent ever lived in "the city". this has relatively little to do with where we live, and more to do with us not having a lot of social drive. i am decent at socializing when it presents itself. I can chat, carry a topic, joke, make general conversation. wife... not as much. she's an introvert. my issue is I don't have time or opportunity to reach out, and have learned through repeated encounters with shitty people that there is often no advantage or reason to. wife is just not great with any of that. she very rarely "clicks" with anyone. instead, we have just focused on eachother. that said, i realize there is benifit to some network and we both would enjoy having somone to entertain in our home, play board games with occasionally.
>>
>>34891254
weirdos? you guys are normies mcnormies lmao

sorry but if you can't get friends if because you're probably insufferable to be around, there are tons of people like you, my advice would be to look within first and stop judging others so much
>>
go to church. This seems obvious

we have never played anything online. wife is the gamer and she only plays Skyrim, red dead, Witcher. she/we found baldur and like the couch co-op. when i played Nintendo as a kid, I enjoyed dragon warrior and then liked parasite eve on PS.

not sure how baldur conflicts with conservative. its a turn based RPG, has good graphics, a fun story line, we are not "religious" and I never fell into the "Satanic Panic" in the 80's/90's against dungeons and dragons. i mean, I never played it, but I didnt see any logic to the Christian spazmodium about it.

>>34895409
its not really our thingm I was a devout catholic for a huge part of my life, but The Church has swung suicidal empathetic left and given up many the things that it stood for or against in a pathetic attempt to be over-inclusive. dont even get me started on their bullshit charities and their funding of 3rd world shithole importation. organized religion is not for us.

>>34895123
yes Normie McNormie because 90% of Americans are self-sufficient, debt-fee farmers. got it. how could i miss that?

If expecting others to be responsible, respect property, boundaries and not let their dogs kill our livestock is insufferable, then YES, i am VERY insufferable.

i relate to your second post very strongly, i was raised in the church, and every catholic organization i tried attending being filled with psychotic Mrs. Jellyby's was a major factor in my disillusionment
i knew families who would bring entire refugee families back with them to america and put them up in their homes, mind boggling stuff
how did you meet your wife? please dont tell me it was a newman club, i dont want to run the gauntlet again

I met my wife on match.com

she was single, had never dated anyone, freshly graduated sumo Kum laude as a criminal science BS. her parents were moving several states away, they were all leaving a state they had only lived in for 3 or 4 years. parents moved 4 states over, she moved 2. she bought a house and took a mundane non-degree-related job. she had never dated, had Ø social skills but wanted to meet somone. I responded, we had drinks at a martini bar. 2nd date we saw Green Lantern. 3rd date rode my kawasaki EN500 to a nearby nature attraction 100 miles away on one of the hottest three days in recorded history for our area (112° i think). a few months later I took her on a wine tour and camping trip in the mountains.

she moved in to my my house after we dated for 6 months. we got married about 8 months after that. we started a business together, ran it for 9 years, then sold it, sold her old house we used as rental, sold my house, and we put it all into building a new house in the country on large acreage. she has been a housewife ever since.

we just celebrated our 13th anniversary.

Similar experience we had at Church.

After years, we went back to Church together on Christmas. Mother in law asked me how I liked it. I told her that I don't believe- in Estonia. Her church singing kumbaya while donating money to foreign affairs I can care less about. I concluded that I'd keep going out of tradition. I made the mistake of asking how long this Church had been important to the family for- she started going because she got bored during covid. Then she kept pushing their program of leaving children with a priest so parents don't have to watch their own kids.
One of prominent members is also a corrupt politician. (His party isn't pro Christianity if you want to simp)

God isn't found in the modern church.
>>

You guys are too smug, self-important, and judgmental to ever make friends with anyone. You're looking for something that basically doesn't exist. You want friends, but what does an ideal "friend" even look like? The lifestyle you chose, as well as your attitude about it and in this thread, precludes you from participating in modern society (of which your entire chosen identity is a rejection of it). You don't want just to befriend someone who has their own chickens or some shit, and that's not the part that matters anyways. You will always feel better than 99.99% of the people around you, and you cannot be friends with anyone you look down on. The only people you could ever be friends with, are people you somehow look -up- to, but it is unlikely there are any people who can surpass you in the values that matter to you.
>>
>>34891254
You're just an old fashioned couple that likes gaming, befriend old people or church people.
To befriend the latter, don't worry so much about putting up a front.
>>
>>34896781
He's just giving a list of his hobbies, I don't think he would shun a stoner friend who's into baldurs gate 3, basically OP needs to get to know all his neighbours and engage in community activities until he finds a friend
>>
>>34896881
OP has insufferable and smug written all over him:
>you are right we dont "engage with the arts". we see no point
Yes, many "NPC"s just idly watch Netflix, but even intellectuals don't consider themselves above the concept of art or boldly claim there is no point in engaging with it.
>we dont want to listen to people brag about the debt the accumulate to impress people they barely know and dont even like
A rejection of the idea of any kind of consumerism whatsoever. Someone talking about buying an iPhone isn't that bad, nor does it imply that it's their identity, Tyler Durnden
>we dont overpay for food, drinks and sounds we can produce better at our own home.
This precludes ever going to a bar or restaurant without them secretly (or openly) thinking that they can do better than this place, that it is overpriced and a waste of time
>we dont really like being around other people. we dont want crowds of zombies.
Anyone that thinks in terms of me vs. NPCs is usually highly unpleasant themselves (see: the many many incels on 4chan)
>she/we do yoga in our great room for free, with youtube, again, saving us the fuel and wasted time of going to town for something we already *enjoy* in the comfort of our home.
Anyone who reduces a social activity to mere cost analysis is a cheap fuck who doesn't need to be part of society. Yeah, I can also drink at home for "free" and watch a movie in 32 parts on YouTube so why go to a bar or go to the theater?
>yes Normie McNormie because 90% of Americans are self-sufficient, debt-fee farmers. got it. how could i miss that?
I don't know how many more times OP can mention he's debt free. Even LGBT, SJWs, and /pol/tards don't need to mention they are gay/Nevertrump/based three times in one thread.

I have no problem with stoners. I was one until about a year ago. I would still smoke but I worry about the health effects (started smoking cigarettes at 11 until 33 and smoked weed 27 years) could always get tested if injured at job, carry a gun daily and then there is the unnessesary cost. we dont have neighbors. closest people to us are invasive trash whomlet their dogs *constantly* attack our livestock. see highlight reel above.

>>34896877
our one set of friends are devout Protestant church people.

>>34897253
if we want to "engage the arts" we make cheese, felt/crochet/sew, build furniture, built infrastructure, paint bob Ross style, handmake seasonal decorations, or any other thing we feel like participating in. plus, I/we toured the country for two decades before the farm. we have been to 100's of art, history and science museums.

we reject the idea of mindless purchases and over consumption resulting in poor financial health.

we *can* cook better food and mix better drinks at our house. thats just a fact. we have gone to restaurants and leave with a fat bill for mediocre food. we know our tastes, have a giant selection of ingredients and drink mixers. my wife and I have combined decades of cooking & mixing skills with endless opportunities for learning more. why pay 4x cost for lower quality result?

if you like sitting in a sticky booth, or a crowded room, loud noises, unsanitary conditions and overpaying for entertainment with one-time-people thats your dig, but it is not ours. we want to connect with people that we can enjoy long-term relationships in private spaces and productive settings.

finance is one of my hobbies. saving, investing, calculating, frugality, stock market, mortgage and interest rates. being debt free is a peripheral benifit of that mindset. I openly encourage others to consider it.
>>
>>34891254
If you want friends that think and act exactly like you all the time you're not going to make them easily. They're thinking the exact same thing you are. If they are also enjoying their own company that much, why would they share it with you?

If you and your wife are unwilling to get out of your comfort zones, I'd make peace with having a small social circle and working with the friends you already have.
>>
no idea
i live very similar and i really fucking enjoy not having anyone around
especially not friends of convenience
maybe you arent really weirdos just live in the wrong area

Eating at a restaurant is one of the most basic social activities since time immemorial. This is like trying to explain the value of (activity) to an autist. You can’t socialize if you reject the most fundamental activities human engage in. The only hope for you is finding someone else who is also functionally autistic
>>
>>34891680
It sounds to me like you're making excuses for not going out. You keep yourself busy with all these homestead projects while giving yourself no time to have friends or go out. Now you can keep doing that forever. You and your wife and kids can live on your little hobby farm alone until the kids leave and its just you and wifey. But you're already bored. You just don't want to admit it. So scale the farm down a bit. Get rid of the shit you don't need. Join a hobby group and enjoy life outside of endless work for once.
>>
>>34897376
What is the point of saving all that money if you intend to never use it? It's pointless.
>>
>>34898527

ummm... RETIREMENT?

We are on year 3 of a 30 year mortgage. orig balance $188k, of which, we only owe $74k. origional construction cost was $211k. I plan to retire in my late 50's and we will need 55-60+ years of funds to live on. we want to be able to enjoy our homestead and lifestyle at ease, without financial concerns. we want to be able to age in place comfortably and have quality medical care when we get to that point. until then, we want to enjoy the fruits of our labor.... that takes money.

work, earn and save today, so we can rest and relax in a few years, for a long time.
>>
If ur such efficient surplus machines with much to spare, why no kids
>>
>>34899599

why dont you have sheep?

because we dont like kids. they're loud, annoying, unnecessary and just dont interest us. there is absolutely nothing about having children that we find attractive. not everybody wants to wipe ass, teach/argue with tiny people that are light years below your intellect, and have your entire life dictated by their needs & wants.

>we both would enjoy having somone to entertain in our home, play board games with occasionally.
If you guys have Internet that should be easy enough to find. I used to use Yahoo Games for online board games were you get matched with random people online (Pictionary and spades were two I played a ton, both you and your can play tog5 if you have two computers). I often used to play people together with a real life friend and he was an hour drive away

Plus with cam you can FaceTime and all that and make them feel like they are right in your living room talking about being productive and miring all your Productivity posters

Nah man, he's too busy being a trad homestead farmer doing farmer stuff with his based tradwife. No kids though. Too much farm work for kids. But he wants friends though. He just doesn't want to change his lifestyle to accommodate other people. You know, like literally every other anon asking how to get friends.
>>
>>34901208

eating kids is frowned upon and they don't produce milk, eggs, leather or hides. if i threw a bunch of kids in an electrified fenced outdoor enclosure or kept them in cages and just fed, watered and checked on them 2-3 times per day, somone would start screaming "child abuse!!".

Unironically this might work if you phrased it less ssardonically. What you describe as weird is actually intriguing to a lot of people and they'd be willing to check it out if you invited them to try.
