I need some advice on skincare. I have a bit of acne and just generally bad skin on my face. I know there are some psycho looksmaxxers on here, any tips or routines? What kind of products should I use? I should probably mention that I have sensitive skin.
I'm not a crazy looksmaxxer, but I've had acne since I was 13, and now I'm almost completely clear of it, so I can give you some advice. JUST SEE A DERMATOLOGIST. Seriously, it's better not to take any risks, because using any medications can make things worse. And as cliched as it may sound: drink more water and try to avoid high-gluten foods. Determine your skin type and look online for suitable skincare products. Good luck ;)
I learned one thing, my acne seems to be related to my constipation. I used to do a number two every two to three days. After I fixed my constipation, my acne stopped flaring upDon’t use medication. Try natural laxatives that won’t cause colonic inertia, like 100% tomato juice or prune juice.
Don't just go to a dermatologist also go to a nutritionist. Maybe something you eat is causing them. When I was a teenager I had acne for a long ass time and the dermatologist just pumped me up with cremes and antibiotics. Later in my late 20s and early 30s I figured it out it's the frying oil that makes my face explode with acne.
>>34902962Only things that worked for me were birth control pills (it's night and day compared when i didn't take it) and also less stress. If you have an abusive family or bf, leaving will help your skin lol. I also use *only* water to clean my skin, of course always washing my hands with soap before that.
>>34902962Commit to a healthy diet. Low carb paleo mostly. Do not eat wheat, dairy, onions, unhealthy fats, etc. Eat good old fashioned meat and vegetables. Take skin vitamins>>34903349Yes skin health is closely related to diet and digestive system health.Take care of your health on a holistic level and symptoms like acne often go away.
>>34902962I use some generic-ass skin cleanser shit every time I shower. Don't feel like it makes a huge difference but you could always placebo yourself
>>349029621. eat healthier if you're primarily eating junk2. invest in a couple pieces of good skincare. A cleanser/exfoliant (chemical not physical exfoliants as physical causes micro tears that will aggravate your acne, I would recommend a salicylic acid cleanser twice a week, or if you need gentler for your skin a PHA exfoliant every day), and a moisturiser and spf daily- these are usually enough (use in that order).3. Depending on how bad it is, just save time and go to a dermatologist, nobody on here can really tell the state of your skin just from a post
>>34903145This guys right. See a professional we don't know what kind of skin you have or lifestyle. I will add clean your sheets more often, though.
>>34902962>Wash/change your pillow case, or fresh towel over it every night. This one's huge.>Avoid excess grease, but especially stuff like potato chips and other junk food>Avoid chocolate>Wash face every morning and night. Find a facial wash that works, but doesn't turn your face red or make you ultra sensitive to sunlight.>Don't pop them, you'll get scars. Only open white heads gently with a light scratch/peal. If there's blood, you did it wrong.>Don't touch your face, especially not with your finger tips.>Sunlight / tanning helps, but be careful of damaging your skin.

drink balck coffee?eat food only one per day
>>34905930Coffee gives me the shits.
>>34903860>dietthis, its always this. I had some skin issues but I 95% eat wholefoods. NO condiments either, those were a bit contributor. I have some shit here and there but no issues.fix diet
>>34906144Fuck man, that sucks, 90% of the shit I eat is greasy and/or packed with carbs. I also love ketchup and my sauces. I'm gonna try the other things but my acne really isn't that bad, I'm willing to look kinda fucked to keep one of the few things that makes me happy.
>>34906149it pissed me off too, its annoying how some people can subside off of oil, sugar and salt then have normal skin but some just cant go near it without issue. My diet now is really boring, just meat, sweet potato, broccoli, bell peppers, nuts, skyr, sometimes fish, sourdough bread I bake, eggs, avocados and some fruits but over time my skin is so much better. For ketchup id say look into the reduced salt and sugar sauces but those sauces are evil, cutting those out really reduced the acne for me. In my country there is expensive ketchup where its made from a few basic ingredients, I haven't tried it but that could work.
>>34906149Being on a diet isn't so bad when you get used to it. I got on the health train young because I was determined to clear up my skin problems and autoimmune issues. Now I'm middle aged and people are constantly shocked at how young I look. I'm often the only non-child in the room who isn't overweight or obese.Avoiding greasy food is not a good rule. There are healthy fats and unhealthy fats. Generally natural animal fats are healthy, but "seed oils" are cancer.Learn how to cook and use spices and healthy food does genuinely taste good. Asian cuisine is good for that. Some artificial sweeteners seem to have no negative affects, like stevia and monkfruit.I've been "dieting" for decades now, and it's not an onerous burden. On a typical day I'll eat eggs with spinach, protein shakes or smoothies made from leafy greens. A sandwich made from Carbonaut bread (30 grams of fiber in 2 slices). Meal prep a large hunk of meat from the grocery store then eat it over the week at dinner with brocolli or other vegetables.Anyway, my point is a healthy lifestyle will prevent future health problems people just take for granted as "oh well I"m just old."
