You guys ever been in a situation where you thought opening your mouth would actually make the situation better but it did the exact opposite? Why did you think that?
>>34905646There is advice and truths which people cannot handle. Everybody with anything even close to what is presently considered “autistic” has had this issue where you say the obvious fucking thing and it pisses everyone off. The person did not desire the “help” of hearing about the obvious. They wanted something else and this was socially clear to everyone else. Or they couldn’t handle the reality and everyone else is treating them with kid gloves. You just learn better what people actually do and do not want to talk about. One of my most embarrassing early professional stories was exactly this. Got a nepo job at fancy money company right out of high school>be 19 and have this new cool job>go to train with middle aged single mom lady at her computer and learn about stuff>she’s telling me how she’s “suuuuchhh a nerd”>because she likes tinker bell (Disney movies) and dr who (tardis merch)>so I say some shit like “no listen you’re not a nerd at all. Those are very common interests even at your age so you really shouldn’t be worrying an-“>she cuts me off to be like “no, I’m a nerd”>so I’m almost distressed now. Why does she think she’s such a nerd?? Everything is fine??>continue trying to “help” her understand while I’m with her>consistently hit with “no I’m a nerd”>absolutely bewildered>go to talk to this other guy at the office later that day. Fairly new to the company himself, maybe 34 or so and good with people my age because he used to be a youth pastor before his church excommunicated him for telling teens it’s okay to abort a rape baby>but he gives good advice so I ask about it>”anon, have you considered that being a nerd is something she finds to be a positive part of her identity? And that nerd was never the kind of insult for her that it was for you?”>”uhhh… nooooo”
>>34905670>”anon, have you considered that being a nerd is something she finds to be a positive part of her identity? And that nerd was never the kind of insult for her that it was for you?”lol he does have a point
>>34905670Why didn't you tell her what you thought about the term instead of jumping into an assumption in a confusing situation? This is not autism, anon, this is being retarded.
>>34905898Regardless of being retarded or autistic, the point was that I completely misread the situation and started running my mouth about something I thought would make it better but instead made it awkward the entire time. I eventually learned how to fix that with experience, which was the question at hand. Why didn’t I handle it differently? Because I didn’t know yet. What kind of 40 year old lady is obsessed with being a nerd and goes so far to defend it like that either? She was consistently an irritating pedant after that too so my assessment that she was a weird fuck wasn’t even incorrect. I just didn’t know how to talk to those people yet.
>>34905646Last year I was in therapy. Therapist tells me I should be more assertive, because I'm way too meek. Tell him I accidentally bumped some guys car, absolutely no big deal, guy was angry and I was pressured by his anger, by inertia I tried to please him and bribed him 5 dollars for him to fuck off, and he still went away angry and I felt walked over from something I thought from the beginning was jackshit. So I decide I should assertivemaxx.>In the mall with mom>Random candy store, they sell slushies>Pay for slushie and pick the flavors>Dumbfuck clerk girl fills it with the wrong flavor>Ask her to do it over>She says she can't>Tell her it's no big deal and it's her mistake so she should be responsible for it>Says she can't change it either way>Ask for a refund>Says she can't refund it>*Limit of the patience*>Ask to speak with the manager>She's the only one around>Stare at her for 5 seconds, feel fucked over again. ASSERTIVEMAXX>Fucking drop the slush on the floor since i bought it either way.>Tell her off "Was it that hard?"HOWEVER >Mom is fuming with shame>Doesn't follow me out of the store>She helps the girl clean up>Girl is crying and she consoles her>She's pissed with me, so not only I got fucked over, I'm also the villain>Get guilt tripped so hard I see cops at the supermarket and think the girl reported me for abuse of some kind>Try to make it up by buying her a frappe, she's even more shamed of accepting it and listening to my sorry ass.
>>34905912Correct choice. That lazy foid won't do it again to the next person.
Boogers
>>34905912>Fucking drop the slush on the floor since i bought it either wayThe autistic child has ascended to it's true form. It has become who he is.
>>34906901What?
>>34905646Pretty much every time I engaged with a woman, doing more talking made the outcome worse.
>>34905646Oh all the time.I don't give people advice or try to improve things any more. Now I just watch them burn. Why? Because it's funnier.

>>34905646>You guys ever been in a situation where you thought opening your mouth would actually make the situation better but it did the exact opposite?I have Autistic Spectrum Disorder. That's pretty much the only kind of situation I've ever been in.
