i need to help my gf find another job. her very essence is drained from her from being a teacher. i hate it for her and she hates it even more. everytime i do try to help, she (rightfully) complains about the terrible job market and beats herself about it. anytime i try to offer her help or suggestions, she seems to shut down. its not only on her end, sometimes i get tired before i have the chance to help her after coming home myself. i know the job market is fucking terrible, but i need some solutions i could offer beyond to play the number game and keep applying. something concrete and strategic, not just a random chance meeting at a networking event.
do you have a contact with someone who has a job openinggo take advantage of nepotismor have her start a side hustleother than that it's tough for everybody lol
>>34907052Are you doing all the work for her? What is there for her to bitch about? What jobs are you trying to move her into?Maybe she should consider teaching elsewhere where students give more of a shit like private or charter schools. It seems like youre going to need to have a chat with her about changing her outlook because she is miserable to be around.
>>34907061>Are you doing all the work for her?nah, but ill look over her resume and try to fill in some apps for her>What is there for her to bitch about? small, broke, private, catholic school filled with kids that dont wanna fucking be in a school thats small, broke, or catholic. the children are horrid to teach since theyve got no attention span or are plain rude. its painful to try and lead them when they dont give you an inch and drains her energy daily. >What jobs are you trying to move her into?Technology or art related jobs.
Make her into a stay at home momIf she still wants to work, try looking for a WFH job

>>34907089Im concerned youre with a low effort person. While I wouldnt advise you to judge a relationship on 50/50 fairness, if the effort is more than 70/30, your gf needs a reality check. The reason I say this is because her problem is now significantly your problem. Is there other fields in your relationship where she is giving back?If I felt she was giving in other ways to make up for it, id just offer to do the applications/resumes for her since its something you are better at doing.Like I said before though, it sounds like she has an attitude problem. Its how I feel talking to people obsessed with politics. They let world events define their outlook on life which often makes them exhausting to be around. She still has to fix her problems in spite of the work conditions. You owe her a real talk if your efforts dont alleviate the situation at all because you will just be sucked into her black hole.
>>34907052The job market isn’t great right now but people are so goddamn dramatic about it. We are talking about a woman with a 4 year degree here. She’s not going to have any trouble finding white collar work lol. None. She just actually has to apply for those jobs.Insurance companies and other paperwork businesses are great for this. They loooovvveee hiring people with degrees but they really don’t give a fuck what the degree is. Something very similar happened to my little sister. She went and got her teaching degree because she wanted to go make a huge difference in the lives of underprivileged children. She then got a job teaching with those children and quit after 2 years. She won’t even talk about it with anyone in the family because she was SO fucking pretentious about fixing these kids and then got absolutely shat on by them. But she works at an insurance company now and makes more money than she would have as a teacher. Not a huge amount more but more nonetheless.
