You can find some fun discussion on int and places like that. Some people use bant to have a /biz/ general too. Some /x/ generals are okay. The smaller boards can easily be contaminated with one or two mass bread makers though. Bant has a war between frog posters and anime for years now.
I dont like browsing on a smartphone so I also limit my 4chan time on the device, but dont think that advice would work for everyone. Most of it was acceptance of its declining state and moving on to reading.

Pretty much all of my friends were /b/tards back in high school because we were there from 2007-2011. We memed about shit at the lunch table and had our little “rules 1 & 2 club”. I met a couple other browsers and former browsers over the years. People quit for a few reasons

I’d say there’s a big difference between blowing off steam and being addicted to the rage/misery combo. You can get a lot of laughs if you can stay detached so it’s certainly not everyone. You can always identify those posters, though.
