Anyone ever have any success dealing with Avoidant Personality Disorder? Not "avoidant attachment" or "social anxiety", which are different things.
>>34909693No. I just AVOID addressing the issue.
>>34909693According to a shitty dsm v test and my own mother i am avoidant. To overcome this first i acknowledge if i want to do something then i try to foresee all the situations and things than can go wrong (often 4 or 5 before i get tired) and then i use any feeling that i have to increase the momentum (wrath, pride and envy)
>>34909693>Anyone ever have any success dealing with Avoidant Personality Disorder?Define success.
>>34910112Being able to approach people, such as women, coworkers, family... It's not nerves or anxiety that gets in the way. It's more like guilt or shame that stops me.
>>34910270Historically the solution to excess social inhibition has always been regular alcohol consumption. Without alcohol, entire peoples would've gone extinct because nobody would have sex.
>>34910276I used to do that, but I'm at the level of inhibition where I need to get near black-out drunk to be social. And then I always go one drink too far, and end up actually black out.
