How do I deal with a coworker calling out nonstop with seemingly no shame? For context the job is at a school and there’s a coworker who is out atleast once a week if not three days plus out of the week. They’ve been spoken to about it according to others but it doesn’t change their attitude about the whole situation and still without fail will call out weekly. In turn when it comes to the work day it’s a shit show since we are often down someone and there is often no coverage sent to do what they would’ve been doing had they shown up to work. I get left to scramble and fill in and do their job as well as my own for no extra pay, thanks, or anything because it all still has to happen and someone has to do it and for some reason it’s me simply because we have the same job title. Is it worth going to a higher up and voicing concern when they’ve already been spoken to about it? I'm left at a stand still with not knowing if I’ll be the one chewed out for complaining or if something would actually happen but you would think it would after 5 years of this. In the meantime though im left continuously irritated at said coworker and feel the resentment growing each absence. Other coworkers treat it as a joke and yeah it’s comical to a degree but not when you’re having to do their job too.
