she wants short hair. Not tomboy short, but she always wants it somewhere between a bob and shoulder length. She insists her hair needs to be that length because her follicles are very fine and straight, so there's no volume. If it's too long the extra weight pulls it all down and makes it look bad supposedly. Is this true? I mean, there's still no volume even when it's short, so I don't know what difference it'd make.

I kind of feel like this is just a reason she has subconsciously attached to her hairstyling decision because her father has always told her she looks better with short hair. He literally just insists she get it cut short because it looks more 'professional', or so it won't be so hot in the summer. She always listens to what he says, which is good I guess, but I think she would look better with longer hair and I would've thought she would rather look good for me than her father.

it's not a deal breaker or anything, she looks great as is, but I've always felt that girls with super long hair look the best, and I think it would be great if she tried it at least once. She suggested I try growing out a beard, which has been a bit of a learning curve for me to keep it well maintained, and I think it's not too different of a request for her to grow out her hair.

is there anything I can do to make it easier for her? Could I get her on some supplements and/or hair products to give it more volume? My worry is that if I start suggesting these things, it might just make her feel inadequate. She is convinced she will never have long hair, so I'm worried she'll get mad at me for trying to change that about her

As of right now I have brought it up lightly and she has not taken me seriously, is still saying she's going to get her hair cut soon

If she’s got all those reasons and objections to longer hair preloaded then you’re definitely not going to convince her to do what you’re wanting here even if you have a really logical argument. You can still probably get it in time. However.
In the same way that a long hair girl might say
>hmmm maybe I’ll do a short haircut this time
even when she knows goddamn well it’s going to the be same thing it always is, your short hair girl will likely eventually say
>hmmm thinking of growing my hair out
And at that point just be like “yeah, I’d think that would be a super cute thing to try!”. And then she’ll do it because she wants to and you won’t have to have a pointless argument.

growing super long hair takes years, sometimes up to a decade depending on hair type. it is vastly different than asking to grow a beard. however, if you really want her to try out long hair, why not invest in a wig?

>I have brought it up lightly and she has not taken me seriously
then bring it up seriously pussyboi
or don't
all that damn context

Super long hair is rare for a reason, not just other women. It keeps breaking and the bottom will be messy no matter what. It can be tamed for a while but she's going to be moving around. That's why even what's called long hair isn't very long.

>posts intrasexual competition between women
>her father has always told her she looks better with short hair
The people who want to take away women's feminine appeal most are their fathers. Why would they want their girls to attract extra male attention. Is he buying her unisex jackets a size too large?

Very long hair (like waist length) is a pain in the ass to take care of, and having it past her chin is still a far way from dyking out.

I'd just argue for shoulder length, saying that it'd be easier if she wanted to change it later. She can always cut, but growing it out takes a long time, so the shorter she gets it right away, the harder it'll be to regain a specific length.

If you're gunning for her to get it significantly longer than it is, I can understand why she'd be averse. It's a pain in the ass, and a big commitment to get to that point. Growing a beard over a couple months is relatively minor compared to years of growth and care, plus the extensive maintenance. It's perfectly fine to have the fantasy, or to bring up the idea, but you definitely shouldn't push her on it.

yeah maybe I just wait and see. You're right, I don't want to argue with her about it, I would hate to upset her over something so small, and it seems for now that she feels more strongly about it than I do

>either do X, or don't do X
okay. I don't want to bring it up 'seriously', because I run the risk of giving her the impression that this is a relationship problem. She's very anxious and insecure about her looks, so I need to be careful. I'm here to try to understand how reasonable my request is, and how to navigate bringing it up tactfully

I suppose you're right, it would be a long process and more work day-to-day, I just didn't think it would be a significant deterrent since there are a lot of things we do to look good for our partners. But it's clear that even if her hair was perfect for growing out long, based on this she'd still say no. So I'll just leave it
