Hi

Irecently started talking a lot with a coworker after moving to a nearby department, and I think she likes me. She asked for my Instagram, sends me those silly videos every day with the caption "us," and recently invited me to the movies tomorrow, just the two of us.

I’m still not sure if she’s just being friendly or if she actually likes me, she’s a very outgoing person, but that’s not the main issue. It’s the first time in years I might end up dating someone, in real life I’ve only dated one person before, plus a few online bitches who just wanted attention and with whom things didn't work out.

This coworker is the total opposite of who I dated before, a normie and also quite religious. She comes from an Evangelical family but says she’s drifted away a bit, though she remains religious. I’m an atheist, but I told her I believe in God.

Can dating someone who is my total opposite actually work? I’m afraid she’ll find out and get angry or upset. Also, like I said, she’s very normie. It’s rare for me to mention something specific I like or find funny and for her to get it, something that was easy with my exes. Even so, I like her, she’s fun and incredibly attractive, the exact opposite of my exes. She would be the most attractive person I’ve ever been with.

Should I pursue this if she really likes me? Does a relationship where two people are so different work out? Should I give up my life as a weirdo who likes weird stuff just to be with her?

Also, any tips for this date? I’m rusty, the last time I went out with someone I was 18. She really likes touching me; a few weeks ago we were celebrating a coworker's birthday, and after the party we shared an Uber home. She rested her head on my shoulder the whole ride. I looked for a chance to stroke her hair or something but I’m a total pussy.

Just ask her out for coffee or a date or a walk or anything.
Id say it looks very likely shes more than interested in you. Youre lucky shes doing the heavy lifting for you rn.
Bring up any of the issues you have like being an atheist to her and discuss. No reason to lie to her about it. You can even word it like you struggle with believing at times.
You dont really know a person until youre living with them, so most these questions like whether you are compatible wont be answered till you experiment.
You said your last was when you were 18 so what are you waiting for? Another girl to get this close to you?
Congratulations in advance because I think your chances are really good if youre not a complete fucking retard.

She sounds like a dominant female type. Evidently thinks you are a blank slate who can be lovingly molded into her ideal of a good man. But she could also be batshit crazy under the surface, which will only reveal itself when you do not live up to her expectations or refuse to be molded into her ideal. But why sray alone out of fear? Might as well take a little initiative with going out together and also learn to let her talk about herself while you listen with the occasional remark.

Meh, just have fun with her anon, if she presses you just tell her you have doubts and she’ll prolly just talk about herself anyway, lol. Also being an atheist is madness, how can you possibly ever know enough to decide that there definitely is no God? Pic unrelated.

Yes, pursue her. And saying you believe in god was a mistake. It's better to be honest. You guys can respectfully disagree.

>I’m an atheist, but I told her I believe in God.
Then you've already fucked things up beyond all possibility of repair. You can't lie about things like that.

dunno, but building a relationship on a lie definitely doesnt work long term.

I think OP can do some funny stuff, he can sidestep the question on God by saying he's "spiritual" or believes in the existence of some higher being, thus functionally he is an atheist, but he is not trapped in this contradiction

Tell her you believe in a God but its not the Christian God

I'd do and say it all just to fuck her. Just to get a lick of pussy

OP here.

Jesus, do you guys really think lying about that was such a bad ideia ? By nature I don't usually talk about the fact that I don't believe in anything, and this time was no different. I planned to talk about it once I felt more comfortable with her.

I don't have any profound reasons or a stack of books explaining why I'm an atheist; I simply don't have faith. And believing just for the sake of believing doesn't feel honest to me, so I prefer to consider myself an atheist.

The date is in a few hours, I've got four hours of work left, and after that I have to go home to get ready before heading to the movies. I'm freaking out, but I want to give it my best shot so I don't let this opportunity slip away. By the way, I've never made a move on anyone before, not even with my first girlfriend. She was the one who kissed me first because she knew I was too much of a dork to have the guts to kiss her. I'm scared because I know it'll be different with this girl, and she'll be expecting me to make a move.

>he can sidestep the question on God
He could, if he hadn't already lied about it.

Yes. Instant relationship suicide. If you'd been honest, she might have decided to give you a chance. But for you to lie to her about believing in God in order to try to get her to have sex with you - I can't imagine anything that would upset a genuinely religious person more than that. The moment she figures you lied, it's over.
