It seems that I have lost the ability to allow myself to relax and do things in my free time. Generally a sense of not being in control, and it seems in particular because of pervasive issues I've had all my life - social anxiety/avoidance personality disorder, body dysmorphia, poor self esteem in particular. I have a sense of a need to do something about them and perhaps there is a sense of urgency that makes me feel I need to do something about it.The problem is that same sense of urgency paralyses me from doing anything really, including actually trying to address them. I think about them heaps and already know how to go about it but I do... nothing. So it's kinda shit. I need to change how I think so that I'm not so obsessed with dealing with these problems - yeah life would be better if I can overcome them, but it's been like this for years and nothing has changed. Something needs to. It would be nice if I could at least find the ability to pick up a game or a movie again.Has anyone else experienced similar issues?
>>34916443I have a similar problem from time to time. I think it happens because we automatically characterize things in order or priority, and only feel motivated to do things on top of the heap. Video games and movies usually fall on the bottom. So if you have higher priority things that aren't clearing in your brain the queue gets jammed. The trick might be to pick a block of time where you let the lower priority things be the highest priority. For me I have a block of time every night (9pm to 11pm) where I seem more inclined to work on lower priority stuff, perhaps because I assume I'm working on larger things during the day. You might have to force if for a bit sometimes.
