No relationship, be them platonic or romantic, ever lives up to my expectations. I'm an attractive diversion to other people at best, any vulnerability I put in is always utterly unreciprocated. If one feels like this, should he just stop trying? I want to withdraw from everyone and never have anything or anybody again

Instead of trying to get stuff from other people, try to be the person who other people want stuff from.
