what's the situation with lying on ur resume in the US?i'm planning on moving over there a while in the future for personal reasons, and im wondering what the risk/reward looks like on fairly drastically augmenting my resume to skip a few rungs on the ladder is when jobseeking. my naive thinking is that its typically more effort than its worth to do international correspondence trying to verify old jobs and references + the paper trail is a lot weaker when immigration and different pay systems and such are involved, but im not sure how stringent US employers are at catching people out on that stuff. i do not care about the ethics, employers arent people, i just worry about the risk and likely consequences of being caught
>>34954323>i'm planning on moving over there a while in the futureYou can't just "move over there" to ANY country in the world. They have to let you in, and the US, like every other country, has immigration laws designed to keep foreigners from stealing jobs from locals or going on the dole. "Hi there, ICE, I was thinking on moving to the US and maybe looking for a job" won't cut it.
>>34954431yea im moving to be with my spouse
>>34954431>You can't just "move over there" to ANY country in the world... and the US, like every other country, has immigration laws designed to keep foreigners from stealing jobsWrong, my cousin went to north korea and got a job breaking rocks for a few decades
>>34954482Is this real? They let you work there?
>>34954763No
Bump
>>34954431right now to an extent yesbut once the dems get back into the white house (regardless of be it 28 or 32) this whole thing about immigration laws will once again become totally ilusoryunless you are a straight white malethen you will never be let in under any circumstances whatsoever
The US right now is undergoing a cultural reset, OP. Foreigners are not welcome to work here just now. Competitors for jobs will, rightly, expect that citizens get first considerstion. Oh, if you apply to an immoral giant company with pajeet HB 1's (foreign contract workers willing to work for slave wages), and you're a pajeet yourself, you might get in but I expect that your prospects won't be great and there will be serious resentment. Who wants to live in that environment? There hasn't been violence, but we all know it's coming. Stay away for now.
>>34959958I'm white
>>34959965Nobody cares. You're foreign. That's the point.
>>34959976yeah im sure the mobs will be coming for the law abiding white legal immigrants who speak english natively lol i will be quaking in my boots waiting to be lynched
You can stretch the truth a little, but don’t be stupid about it. For example, don’t claim you’re an Excel expert if an employer can easily test you on it.I’d also be careful about stretching the truth on salary, since they may be able to verify your previous compensation or pay structure if they want to.Essentially, don’t be overconfident, but everyone is going to sell themselves as the QB of their own team.
>>34961242are they likely to be able to verify salary overseas? i don't really see how they could do that practically
>>34961242what's the consequence though. If I claim to be an excel expert and the "employer" (subhuman) tests me and I fail I can just move on to the next offer. It's not like you get thrown in prison for lying. Especially in late stage capitalism where you are ENCOURAGED to lie and learn skills on the job because the alternative is starvation and homelessness. It seems like there is almost no downside other than not being able to apply to the same place again
>>34961428To be honest, probably not, but in reality if I saw a foreigner claiming they were making substantially more overseas than in the US in literally any field, I would be raising questions with my recruitment team
