Have you ever been in a situation where you had to survive on just $100 worth of food.. a month? How did you do that?
>>34955115No.
>>34955117Fuck you answer the question
>>34955119Fuck YOU!
>>34955115This is not a situation any sane person would try to navigate. Go to a food bank or, if you're really desperate, find out what time of day your local supermarkets throw out all the food that has reached its "eat by" date.
>>34955121You fucking.
>>34955115Bread and butter will give you enough calories and doesn’t require cooking or kitchen. Loaf of bread is 99c and a stick of butter is 1$. Buy a box of black tea and some sugar on remaining funds so you don’t go crazy. Maybe you’d have enough funds for multivitamins, but if not you’ll be fine for 1 month anyway
>>34955138Ummm, no meat? How you gonna survive without animal protein?
>>34955115If it's just one month and you don't mind running up some vitamin and mineral deficiencies, you could probably survive just on the cheapest possible own brand sliced bread and peanut butter. Own-brand dry pasta with some bulk vegetable oil mixed in is good too. If you need to keep going a bit longer you could possibly add a tin of cheap sardines a couple of times a week, some red lentils, and then whatever cheap vegetables you can afford. The hard part is getting the vitamins and minerals in. Maybe add some cheap nuts as well, if you can find them, and some cheese and milk.
>>34955146>How you gonna survive without animal protein?NTA, but it's not like vegans die in the first month, is it?
>>34955138>>34955151no multiple months>>34955154um, no, but if I go just 48 hours without eating meat, bad fucked up shit starts to happen.and that's just a day or two, I cannot fucking imagine what would happen for a month...
>>34955146butter has SOME animal protein, but for short term you don’t really need it. Actually, my suggested diet would cost ~70$ a month so he could also afford a single brat per day or couple eggs. If we are squeezing the very last cent out of 100$, I would also get cabbage for fiber and vitamins, it can be eaten raw or fermented for free. Central European peasant maxxing 100$ a month is actually not bad, but it will suck.
>>34955167>butter has SOME animal protein, but for short term you don’t really need itI've gone for a couple days drinking just milk, it was definitely not enough. For some fucking reason casein and whey are shit proteins to my body. They do absolutely nothing for me. It's like eating grass for protein. My body needs actual fucking flesh meat to survive. No exceptions.
I've lived off less than $100 a month since I moved out on my own about a decade ago. I spend a max of $20 a week. I can't really explain how I do it. I buy rice, salad, fruit, cheap frozen meals, and I usually have enough left over for snacks.Look into Flashfood. You can get things from grocery stores for drastically reduced prices. You just order in the app and then go to the store and pick it up.https://flashfood.com/en/locations
>>34955161If you only have $100 a month, forget about meat. You might be able to squeeze in a little milk and cheese occasionally, maybe some super cheap eggs once in a while, but that's your lot.
>>34955177>My body needs actual fucking flesh meat to survive. Then you're going to die. On $100 a month, meat is out of the question.
>>34955194>>34955202Eh... our local Kroger here in Cincinnati sells this package of chicken drumsticks for just $5 bucks. That's 240 grams of protein for just $5 bucks. 50 grams a day, 30 days, about $35 for the month.
>>34955191Hmmm
>>34955115Basically the answer is that you will get really skinny. Even if all you buy is cheap meat, rice, nuts, and beans, it's not a lot of calories.
>>34955115You'll have to to full nigger mode. Cheapest food per calorie is uncooked flour, oil and chicken. You'd have to take any job at all to solve that situation. I guess I am in it currently but don't feel the effects because I live with my mom.
>>34955230>because I live with my momdamn you're lucky I have zero family
>>34955115There's always turkey spam, white rice and frozen veggies or canned veggies. It's not so bad, you can always go to the places that give you free food.
>>34955115Go to your local food bank.
>>34955279Welfare is kinda humiliating though, isn’t it?
>>34955115canned tuna and rice is really cheap
>>34955278I would just ignore the vegetables and go straight for the meat and carbs (rice pasta bread)
>>34955284Not in this day and age. With EBT, all you gotta do here in the USA is apply, you get your phone interview, get your EBT card in the mail, and start shopping. Hell you can even order food online with food stamps. Though, they are making it hard for people. Gotta be working 80 hours a month to keep your benefits.
>>34955284It's less humiliating than what ever the fuck you're doing now.
>>34955115Carb loading. Just a tremendous amount of boring carbs unfortunately. I was born in Israel and people refer to a time called the austerity period, which was a period when the country was just starting up, standardized money was still a concept making its way into the economy. Before this, people were just trading items. At that time, the government was handing out food rations to the people, which you can see in pic related. There were lines to get your daily rations, and there were also monthly rations.Butter was heavily restricted and expensive to bring, so they used margarine instead. The bulk of the diet was bread and flour, as it was the cheapest thing to produce. Sugar came second place. Potatoes/corn came in third, followed by rice, noodles. And finally, salted meats/canned meats, mostly fish. Sometimes frozen meat.In these times money was barely a thing, and those people survived. If I had to do this for a month, I'd do something similar, buy bread often, supplementing a little bit of rice and noodles. A couple sacks of potatoes for the month, a tub of sugar, flour, butter because prices went way down since then, and I would make pastries sometimes so that I don't go insane.Baking and food preparation back then were completely normal things, but if you're not willing to do much menial work, then you'll miss out on making sweet pastries.Me personally, I have diabetes so this diet would kill me, but if you can sustain this diet, I would advise dry herbs, a hell of a lot of rice, spices and seasonings, pasta a fuckload of dry pasta, and just vary with your seasoning.I would get cheese, and I'd sparingly use that cheese to add to my pasta once in a while to make some Mac.Then I'd buy a very limited amount of meat, about a kilo, and use 250 grams to make Bolognese every weekend to make myself feel like I'm still alive. It's rough but, honestly seasoning variations of pasta, noodles, can vary so much that you'll make it.Supplement with sides
>>34955115Yes.Eat like every other day.You will lose shittons of weight but you will survive. The body stops sending hunger signals after so long. This is not a sustainable condition, however, and will kill you soon if not make life unbearable.
>>34955115Nissin/Top Ramen value packs, eggs (when cheap like they are currently) add frozen vegetables. 3x meals a day. Dumpster dive for extras and go to the food pantry/charity etc
>>34955409also note when I was on this diet I drank a lot of beer it isn't good nutrition but i'm still here
>>34955115A month? Probably not, but I had a serious drug and alcohol problem and was constantly broke af, having to stretch shit like $7 multiple days on food. Addiction dehumanizes you and you do weird fucked up shit. Buying McDonald's food (back when the McChicken was $1) with pennies isn't even close to the bottom of strange shameless shit you end up doing.>>34955125Seconded. Food banks aren't just for homeless people. I never went to one, but I absolutely wouldn't describe my mental state as sane during this time period.
>>34955421How the fuck does anyone exist while drinking beer and alcohol? Shit's poison man
>>34955443>when the McChicken was $1lol I remember those days... those were the good old days before inflation
best calorie/dollar ratio is bread (aside from buying bulk raw ingredients like straight flour or lard or whatever)peanut butter is also very calorie efficientyou need calories and protein, other macros are supplementary for a very narrow 'survive one month on barely any money'peanut butter sandwiches twice a day then one wholesome, filling, cheap meal. rice and beans, stuff along those lines. buy in bulk early in the month, it's far cheaper.'animal protein' is not real
>>34955597>best calorie/dollar ratio is breadNot vegetable oil?
>>34955599>aside from buying bulk raw ingredients like straight flour or lard or whateveryou could chug oil or spoon lard but it wouldn't be productive. cheap bread is very dollar/calorie efficient regardless, you could fill your calorie needs for a month on like $15-20 if you literally only ate bread
>>34955597>'animal protein' is not realnta but non-negotiable animal protein is a must for me no exceptions
>>34955609giving up preferred foods and weird complexes you have about not eating meat making you gay or whatever are some of the first things you have to do to adapt to a crisis situation like this properly
>>34955619no it's not about being gay you nigger my body literally cannot survive without animal protein I've tried and failed multiple times in the pastI have genetic conditions that require it like for example I need heme iron or else I'll get anemic it's unfortunate but that's how nature rolls
>>34955636GPs will often tell people this but no case of this has ever been observed under lab conditions, it's always a different iron deficiency issue. dietary and comorbid health factors can inhibit your ability to absorb non-heme iron but these are severe health issues you should be trying to resolve regardless and will catch up to you in 10-30 years.speak to an actual dietitian about the problem, until then you may well be vit c deficient if you have this problem and should be supplementing it regardless
