>go to a lawyer down the street
>confess to some things that may or may not be an offense
>ask for advice to fix my situation
is this a good or a dumb idea? am I gonna get in trouble /adv/?

an attorney cannot and will not share information you prove them with the police with the exception of if they believe you're a physical threat to yourself or another person

they will not help you commit or continue to commit crimes, and most firms probably won't help you actively cover things up, but they will provide advice on keeping yourself in the best legal position

but surely if they give me dumb advice and I choose not to follow it, they can tell the police because I left without intention to fixing the issues

You dun goofed. Take the loss and do what >>34958605 says.

they are only obligated to tell the police under narrow circumstances and will avoid doing so at all costs if they can

quite pointedly their business is being trusted by people who may or may not have committed crimes, contacting the police is very bad business

i seriously suggest you stop posting on the internet and go find legal counsel

also listen to what they tell you even if it is 'dumb'

Only if you are rich

This depends on what country you're in. The rules about attorney/client privilege vary from one country to another.

That obviously rather depends on what you've done. But most of the time, lawyers are required to keep conversations confidential. You may need to formally retain him first - i.e. pay him something before you start talking. And you aren't required to follow his advice, but it might be sensible to.

One thing to watch out for, depending on where you live, is that in many jurisdictions it's not permitted for a lawyer to argue something in court that is different from what you've told him privately. So if you tell a lawyer you committed a crime, he can't then go into court and try to prove that you didn't: if you confess to him privately, the only thing he can do is plead guilty. But there's nothing to stop you hiring another lawyer, lying to *him*, and having him plead not guilty; and the first lawyer generally wouldn't be allowed to tell anyone about your conversation.

yep. ive studied crime heinously. if you snitch to a safe party it diffuses into the crime police snitch wave. you're in good hands just go to jail for your crimes basically. the difference between diffusion is like 10 years vs 1 month. just snitch on yourself basically. dont try to cover it up its really annoying lol. literally
ive been to jail
just argue your case like
>i stole a car
ok judge i stole a car
then sit there
and act nice
nice!!!
thats it. thats all the crime u do here lmao.

this means your the police bitch but basically thats them jumping you into their gang. just build personal relationships with the county gang and basically you report to them and look like cooler in public, smacking drinks and pedos then the police are like "wtf" "jimmy again!" and chase and beat the fuck out of you then girls are like wtf did jimmy do? jimmy stole a soda in 89 baby. its all good. then they pay you at jail. i got paid at jail for criming people into higher strength tasks. its just tough work you get your ass beat and nothing to do there. 1 month but they pay u like 20 dollars a day with this method

set this shit up yourself you're basically polizia at that point. i use it to fuck bitches. got 5 numbers so far gonna pass it off to my mans tyrone cus i have the honor levels of a small barge. except i dont support other men.

assuming he is a real licensed lawyer admitted to bar (or whatever is the equivalent in your country) whatever you say to him is under privilege so yeah you should do that but check if he is a legit lawyer to begin with

cus there are some scammers who call themselves like legal assistants or whatever who are not licensed and thus don’t have attorney client privilege

basically every civilised state you will have like a public registry of licensed lawyers
>>
Lawyers charge for consultations. I don't know how it works, but I assume they're your attorney for the moment you pay them.

"I need advice on some legal issues and want to buy an hour of your time." Pay him and you are now legally his client and nothing you say can leave that room.
