People with degrees, if you could go back what would you get a degree in? Im considering going to college with my GI Bill finally and getting a degree. Im smart enough I think I could get a degree in most things I just have no idea whats a good degree for a reliable career. Any advice or insight into this would be great. Was leaning something in Mathematics/information technology/data analytics.
Not worth getting a degree past 25 soley for career progression unless you already have a connectYou will be too old to be an attractive grad job candidate when youre pushing 40 and you couldve used the years to start a new field on the job rather than get saddled with debt

If I could go back in time I'd probably have gone for a trade. They were absolutely fucking desperate 15 years ago for anyone with a pulse but I'm told now there's no shortage of greenhorns.Honestly OP just about every field is fucked for entry level positions currently. I don't think safe field exist anymore.
>>34960157Stop thinking of college as a glorified trade school designed to pour you right into a job. It isn't and it can't be. That said, the future belongs to the adaptable. Get a degree in, say, CS and you can get a job in CS - but ONLY if there are jobs in CS. Major in English, History, Philosophy or some other "useless" field and you can legitimately look for jobs in sales, management, HR, marketing, administration, etc etc etc
Probably something in medicine or engineering.I underestimated my potential when I was younger and ended up double majoring in Finance and Marketing, only to realize that I don’t really like the industries themselves or living under the constant pressure of KPIs.Future proof yourself, OP. Hard times are coming.
>>34960157medical stuff, i'm pretty sure AI is replacing the stuff you mentioned
Healthcare is one of the few AI-proof fields left. Do nursing, maybe med school if you think you're up for it.
>>34960157Get a degree in Chemical Engineering. High paying field with a good amount of job openings and not enough qualified workers.
>>34963508Like just about everything there may be a shortage of experienced people but no shortage of greenhorns. Good luck without prior relevant work experience, solid internships/co-ops or an internal referral.
