The thought dawned on me when I woke up this late afternoon on the bed.
Not retarded in the traditional sense but in a way that I've wrecked my brain with alcohol for so long that I legit can't do anything new anymore.
I still go to gym and eat and buy grocery everyday but anything new that takes more effort, like getting a job is hard for me.
It's been over 2 years since I graduated and I have no idea what kind of work I can do and I'm too scared to even apply right now.
As time goes on I might become legitimately disabled and just stays like this for the rest of my life

You can do it anon, even despite the alcohol your brain is plastic enough to learn new things. You could also just do a job, like roofer, where being an alcoholic is a requirement

Thanks anon. That’s pretty funny. I’ve thought about being a blue-collar worker but nothing interesting has come across yet. I also feel like it’d be a waste of my degree (psychology (i know it’s a bullshit no-skill degree but that’s the only thing that interested me at the time))

Why not train to be a therapist?

Your brain still changes and can improve overtime. Especially if you eat well and exercise the recommended amount, socialize; those two things will help compensate.
Also depending on the damage you can often do things to work around it. For me I got major depression in high school and I think that fucked my memory pretty badly. But since I'm aware of what happened I can make up for it through thinks like note-taking at work, being more diligent about using a calendar etc. It might be useful to reflect on specifically what you think went wrong mentally, and what you can actionably do to help with it.

Also it should go without saying; if you are still drinking frequently you should stop. If you have an addiction you need to take it really seriously and start enrolling in programs etc to help. The science on this stuff is pretty conclusive, alcohol is a toxin and the safest amount to take is basically 0, or close to it.

I've been drinking heavily for 25 years. I've always been retarded but I never had any physical issues. That has now changed, my blood pressure is through the roof, I have erectile dysfunction, diarrhea everyday. I hope you will stop before you fuck up your body like I have done. My sexy wife joined me in the shower yesterday, I had a boner for all of 5 minutes and then it disappeared. I decided then to stop drinking, normally I would be several drinks deep already and I'm totally sober today. I don't care if I have a heart attack but I'll be damned if I can't fuck up until that point.
Good luck anon.

Yeah I’ve thought about being a therapist for autistic kids. But again my mind has been so fucked from daily drinking and i’m too inert to do anything. Just thinking about it makes me anxious
