How do I get better at dealing with door-to-door sales people? Every time I have to talk to one, it fucking ruins my day. I get stressed out and anxious and feel like a jerk if I try to be "tough" . I used to have a No Solicitors sign, but they would usually ignore it anyway. I get a lot of dudes coming by that will neg me and say my house looks like shit for one reason or another to sell window replacements or whatever, and it makes me feel bad. The nice ones I talk way too long and I get suckered into buying stupidly overpriced service that I end up regretting. I like my house and normal people and friends/family say they like it.Pic somewhat related. We found out a neighbor had rats and are now trying to shop around for a decent exterminator because we apparently have or had some up in our attic too. First guy that came by tried to sell us this package that was $20K but I called around and thankfully my family member who does realty said that was fucking ludicrous scam price and to bail on it.Oh, and our brand new A/C went out and I have to have a guy out for that too. Fun stuff, all at once.

>>34974004If you're not planning to buy whatever they're selling, you are wasting THEIR time by letting them keep talking. So you don't need to feel guilty for interrupting them. Hold up one hand, palm forwards, and say firmly "Let me just stop you right there. I'm definitely not interested in buying, and I would be wasting your time by listening to you any longer." Then step back and close the door.
