How common was it for classmates/friends/peers around you to claim they had special powers growing up. I encountered it a lot. A lot of them claimed to be psychics or manifestors. Manifestors a good 15 years before it was a trend. How? Why? What do you think of the tiktok trend of gen z and a getting into paranormal things and why do you believe this is happening?
>>34975231I remember a decent number of kids in elementary school claiming to have some kind of special power.... None of them were true tho...
>>34975271True. A younger kid claimed to be immortal. It was cute.
>>34975231when I was in kindergarten, my friend convinced me that he was bit by a spider and got spider powers and then claimed he got the spider to bite me too so I also had powersthe powers were only sticking to surfaces on your fingers(not strong enough for wall climbing, but he said it might be possible when our powers develop) and above average strength, no web slinging like spider manI miss having friends, but I'm not desperate enough yet to go on friend finding threads/discords to force it to happenthanks for reminding me of good times
>>34975231I'm autistic so I took everything people said literally and when I was like 9 I had this friend who convinced me she could speak to the dead because her older sister had been murdered and she needed to solve the crime (I later found out she did not have an older sister)
>>34975231>How common was it for classmates/friends/peers around you to claim they had special powers growing up?Fairly often, as per make believe/fantasy play. I skinned an animatronic toy I had and claimed I "created a robot doggie."> What do you think of the tiktok trend of gen z and a getting into paranormal thingsAs an older zoomer (2002) I think a lot of it was interest in the places people forgot. Partially thrill seeking, partially larping. Especially in the ARG space which spread back to the creepypasta era. I enjoyed the cryptography of it and the massive link mazes. Sites like terminal00 or the lainist's were pretty fun for teenage me to explore.
>>34975231Idk, I think it's all bullshit to be honest. I've come across Youtubes where people claim to know spiritual things, but stuff came out about those people where they lied to their audience, and continue to uphold that lie to this day. If they were so spiritual, why don't they ever admit the truth? Probably because they're lying about their spirituality too.I've come across others Youtube where people claim you can change your entire life by "changing your vibration," which sounds really cool, but the contents of my mind never had any impact on the outside world whatsoever. An easy example is when I was in love with a woman, but she was completely repulsed. Why wouldn't my high vibrations psychically transfer over to her? Because they have no effect.I believe we live in a GTA game, and the rules of that game are such that the material reality is independent of the thought reality. People can perceive your energy, sure, but that is caused by the mammalian limbic system and not some kind of mysterious force.
>>34975231Kids have all kinds of crazy ideas. The world is very complex, they're trying to figure it out, and get things wrong. When I was about six I remember believing for a while that I could influence dice to give myself an advantage in board games. God knows how I came to believe that.
>>34975816I can guess coin flips in yugioh duel links correctly about 80% of the timefairy box is overpowered in my handsI don't think it's supernatural as it only works for duel links, but I do think that I've learned to vibe with the game's RNG and am subconsciously manipulating the RNG in my favor through sheer intuition
>>34975231Many of my childhood friends had the special power of being able to grow up to become losers.
I claimed to have pyrokinesis when I was like 10, it's called play pretend, sorry for expecting my playmate isn't autistic and gets that it's a bit
