How do I get out of feeling like I'm living in a constant state of waiting mode?

I feel like Sisyphus pushing his boulder, trying to burn down the list of shit I have to worry about so I can finally relax and enjoy life, but the pile never gets any smaller. My car is slowly dying, but I cant afford the time to find out why or buy a new one. My house is already too small (1 br 1 bath) and I have a 2 year old and another on the way. I have a good paying highly specialized job but live in an area that I cant save up any real amount of money beyond retirement: I've been trying to save up for an ADU but the rate of inflation is beyond the rate I can save, so after 4 years of trying I am right where I started. At least Im paying off my mortgage, but I cant afford anything anymore where my life used to be care free. I used to be able to eat out 2-3 times a week, but now that I'm trying to save I feel like anything I spend my money on is a waste. But my savings aren't working so I don't know what to do. I feel like I'm slowly losing all my friends as we talk less and less, and on top of that I have this constant existential dread of being replaced with AI before my time is up.

I don't know what to do but burry my head in the sand and trudge on, but it's not working. I don't know how to progress.

why are you having more kids if you have no idea what to do with your life? im childfree for good because i actually thought about it beforehand.

youre making 40-80k USD a year, arent you? on top of mortgage, other debt, gas being $5, 1B1BR with a child (even though you should have at minimum a 3B2BR with a single child), and you have "savings" of nothing more than 20k despite labor & delivery costing much more than that.

i genuinely hate you. because you did nothing other than make shitty decisions. go ahead and give another person a shitty start in life since you think youre so important. go ahead and "burry" your debt and take it out on your children who have no idea what the world is. teach your kids about how much daycare costs, now car insurance, car registration, their drivers license, the bus fare, their FAFSA (hopefully, since you wont be able to pay), their tax statements, how much school lunch costs, ect, but you just wanted to cum and now theres a real person here. fuck you

>children
I guess I'm just putting life plan through the paces at this point. I always thought I wanted children and so did my wife, and the window for having children is narrow. 3 years ago when we started trying for the first life didn't feel so bleak, 2 was always the plan because I wanted them to have a sibling. Its already too late on that front anyways, cant take it back, but I wont be having any more.
>shitty decisions
I have worked my ass off my entire life. I did everything "right", excelling academically with a masters degree in engineering and I have a high paying job, or so I thought. But I would need a loan for 1 million dollars to double the size of my 700sqft "starter" house, which would equate to roughly 70k in annual mortgage payments, which I cannot afford. I took the hard road at every intersection in life and I feel like it just never is going to get to the payoff. I don't know how many more times I can take the high road.

I feel like a failure because despite doing everything my father did and taught me I have so little to show for it and he owned my childhood house before I was even born.

I wanna just say I really respect you anon. I won’t bother you with “many people are worse” like my Aunt would tell me, or how pathetic I think myself is.

Nice of you to say anon.

I relate pretty heavily, OP. The only real satisfied fulfillment I have in life are my wife and children. It sucks being broke, having no money to get anything going. Burns you right out. But if you're going on well enough to provide for your family, then that's blessing enough in this fucked world.
>>34975651 don't listen to this jackass, OP. You exist for no other reason in the world's eyes than to be lied to and nickel and dimed at every opportunity. They won't take away our ability to make and raise our families too if we can do anything to help it. Take whatever you have and pour it into your family, then let the faith and uprightness of your children replenish you. Teach them about God and Jesus. It's the only way.
