I'm a raised Bengali-American, and frankly I don't really like my home country or culture that much, especially when I visit there. Bad infrastructure, corruption, loud people either way too artificially friendly (not in a good way) or rude, litter and dust everywhere; it's a huge shithole. I don't find our people or fashion that good-looking and even our cuisine is pretty subpar. We don't have much of a rich history either. I genuinely wish we were still colonized by the Brits.I always wanted to be a Hispanic. I'll admit I don't really like the language that much, and I definitely don't like those Latinx gang favelas or Edgar-hairstyle-wearing youths, but I really appreciate those devout tradcaths who really know how to live. Spain in particular is a country I greatly envy because of their superior history. Though I could accept being from any other ethnicity, like Irish, Italian, Greek, Polish, Arab, Nigerian, Ethiopian, Turkish, Japanese, Thai, even being an Indian or Pakistani (they feel more original than Bangladesh). Strangely enough I don't wish to be a WASP or Germanic because their way of living feels pretty cold and it's gotta suck knowing they're among the most hated people globally due to their dark histories. I also don't wanna be Black American because as much as I respect their generosity and sovl, I never liked the ghetto or condescending aspects; not that I entirely blame them due to their painful legacy that lingers on.Sure every other countries have their own flaws, but I can't think of something good that stands out about mine.How do I get over my hatred of being Bengali? Or is it reasonable to hate your ethnicity? Should I just marry a Latina or Irish woman and assimilate into their family so I wouldn't have to deal with being Bengali anymore?
