Heres an argument between my partner and I. Could i get some takes on this?https://voca.ro/15TKchSyxTVa
Damn. You're recording your arguments to show them to internet strangers?
>>34987523I'm not gonna listen because that's really invasive and unnecessary. You're a gigantic faggot.
You're retarded
This actually can't be real. I refuse to believe it. You both are good voice actors and deserve an award. I feel like I'm also Alice in Wonderland listening to this. I can't believe people with children would act like this. I've never heard a man so checked out of a relationship and a woman who can't realize her partner doesn't give a shit. It is insane. They clearly don't love eachother and it's clear as day. They don't want to work together they just want to fight.
>>34987571What makes it seem like they want to fight?
>>34987596I'm not saying they are doing it intentionally. It is just what happens when people don't want to view things from others perspective. The man clearly thinks it isn't a big issue and has no idea why she is making it such a big deal (hint:she cares about her stuff a lot). For the woman's part she isn't recognising that he is clearly checked out and there is a reason for that (hint:nagging). When neither side can humble themselves and admit their issues it leads to a fight. Whether they want it to or not.
Stick to your guns and dont be tricked by him samefagging to say you are wrong ie >>34987624
>Faggot can't fix his own home for his wife and children>Gives zero shits about his children's healthHOLY FUCK HOW HAVE YOU REPRODUCED GIVE ME YOUR WIFE
Why are you stressing her out and aggravating her, holy fuck, even I'm stressed.
>>34987624I would say it's probably closer to not understanding how to view things from other perspectives rather than not wanting to. It sounds like he has the genuine inability to understand the underlying issue. Either way you're not wrong.>inb4 "yeah" from OP
>>34987523Reading through the thread I thought>wow feminist brigade thinks men can’t be right againBut now I’m listening to this and I’ve got some problems>I guess I can begin to understand the idea of recording something for later “I’m not crazy” validation. What I cannot understand is starting a recording in front of her like “okay go!”. That’s antagonistic at best>having rat shit on your baby things is not acceptable dude. Idk if your wife knows what she’s talking about. She might think that you can simply get rid of a pest problem by fixing the garage door and plugging some obvious holes but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s an unacceptable issue. Hire an exterminator if you don’t want to do it.>”I don’t underthand what’th bitharre about that.>your wife sounds sort of inarticulate and shit but that doesn’t mean all of her concerns are invalid. Dude, you have disease carrying rodents on your property near your children’s shit. Your wife doesn’t have to make a master tier argument on why that needs to be fixed.>the fact that the baby is crying in the background doesn’t seem to concern either of you. I doubt it started out this way but now you guys are past the point of caring about it.Your pauses for heavy breathing were kinda silly in the headphones. I don’t know I agree with that other guy that I’d take your wife for actually wanting to have children and care for them properly. No idea what your issue is. Pretending not to understand? You spend enough time on this website to know how fucking irritating that is.
OP hereSo yes, I am totally checked out. That's not a good way to be, but I can totally see that that is how I am. Our marriage is in really bad shape for reasons not apparent in my audio clip. So, I take it sitting on the issue where mice can enter our garage for ~1 year was my bad. I'll own that. I tried to apologize to my wife earlier this evening about it. I had been thinking to myself, I better get this fixed before winter, when the mice will be looking for somewhere warm to stay. Some context leading up to the argument:We decided to go on a family walk. We pulled out a wagon for the kids to sit in, but there was mouse poop. There was no time to clean it, so we went without the wagon and had a really nice time. When we came back my wife and I looked at the garage door to talk about the issue. She asked me when I could work on it and mulling it over I said "I dont know" while wondering if I had time this weekend to do it. My wife walked away, I felt abruptly. I noticed her next few remarks to me were kind of sharp, so I asked her if something is wrong and thats when she blew up leading to this argument.Afterwards she said the worse thing was me acting like we had never talked about it before. I don't really recall acting like we never talked about it. I do remember us talking about it. I remember it as mutual expression of how dissatisfied we are with the situation and our desire to fix it rather than a promise to solve it in a certain time frame. I'm busy, I take care of house issues all the time, and frankly I do a ton of the housework I expect her to be doing as a stay at home mom.>>34988001Can you give me some advice? Please. I don't want to aggravate anyone. So if its obvious to you then I'd like to hear it.>>34987997No I absolutely do not want my kids exposed to mouse poop, which is why I would never put them into a wagon filled with mouse poop.
>>34988364Good on you for owning the garage issue. Truly. Being checked out never goes anywhere good, though. Start trying to check back in or prepare for relationship termination. Every relationship either goes on or ends so prepare for one of the two.She was mad about “I don’t know” but after hearing the recording of the issue, she probably would have accepted “I’m thinking about whether I’ll have time this weekend”. She’s been pretty clear that all she wants is information beyond “I don’t know” and “yeah”.You’ve got a woman trying so hard to collect information about this shit that she’s reading caulk bottles in your garage and forming opinions about them. That’s pretty fucked. It’s not like she’s going through your phone to collect irrelevant information. She’s going through shit she basically knows she can’t understand because she is so frustrated about rodent poop. The other thing to understand is that women get INCREDIBLY angry when anything about their own children feels threatened. This is supposed to work in your favor and make you feel comfortable leaving your children alone with her, she will defend your children indignantly right or wrong. That’s whatcha want. So even if you are absolutely CERTAIN (in your mind) that she’s overreacting, you could give her the grace of acknowledging that this is the ONE issue where women are fully justified and even preferred in acting that way. I guess defending your home and herself matters too but she seems like the type who’d do both of those for you too.Slow your blood down.
>>34988316An exterminator? We live in the woods. There are just mice in nature. I dont have an infestation problem. I have a hole in my garage door they can enter, which I grant is a legitimate issue.> Pretending not to understand? You spend enough time on this website to know how fucking irritating that is.That would be pretty irritating to pretend to not understand. What do you think I was pretending to not understand?I guess I could see she was upset about it. I guess I just didn't want to address that. We had deep problems in our marriage and coming to her aid about her emotions requires vulnerability on my parent I just dont want to give. At the same time, I am happy to actually constructively talk about how and when we will fix it.Part of the issue in the conversation was her having big thoughts and opinions about how exactly the problem should be solved, like which products will solve it and what the specific failing of the garage door is. I find her really condescending about that stuff. She acts like I am an idiot or pretending to be stupid if I don't see it the same way she does. Where does she get this insane confidence that she knows better? I am a professional college educated guy who does home maintenance stuff all the time and she is a shut in house wife who doesn't talk to anyone at all.I guess I can see her expressing herself in an insulting way regarding the specific details of the issue, and I just choosing to ignore that insulting tone. I guess that's also a form of my "pretending to not understand"? But what's my alternative? Maybe I should just walk away from her? That honestly might be more productive. I'm sure she will have a huge issue with that, but that could be better at this point.
>>34988378>She was mad about “I don’t know” but after hearing the recording of the issue, she probably would have accepted “I’m thinking about whether I’ll have time this weekend”. She’s been pretty clear that all she wants is information beyond “I don’t know” and “yeah”. That totally makes sense. I think she interpreted "I dont know" as in like "I dont care and I am not bothering to think about it". Whereas, I am a fairly literal person, so, I mean like "I literally dont know the answer in this exact second". I wish she would be more forgiving and charitable to me, but I can see that she interpreted it that way. Thanks for your thoughts.
>>34987523I listened. I'm a 48 year old man with a ton of life experience. I understand women.1. Your woman is right. You're an idiot. Be grateful she's tolerating you. You're not meaning to upset her, but she just wants you to fix the fucking door and stop the rodent infestation. You just keep babbling nonsense like a retard. If you were my son, I would slap you upside your head.2. Fix the door. Try every possible fix...or just replace the damn door.3. Put down some sticky traps for the rodents. ...or get a damn cat.4. Stop arguing needlessly with your woman. Apologize for being a retard and tell her you'll get right on the problem and actually get right on the problem. 5. I'm sure you're a good guy, but you absolutely have comprehension problems and should probably get help for it from a professional or just work on it yourself.
>>34987624He's probably autistic or something. I have had similar arguments with my woman and it's not intentional on her end or mine. We're both autists.
>>34988427This sounds like a woman’s impression of a man. I’m not necessarily saying you’re wrong but what a weird fucking post
>>34988429I've had a lot of relationship experience. It has definitely taught me a lot over the years. Things that are hard for most guys (myself included) to learn. I still have issues on occassion because even decent women are emotionally unstable and don't really understand us guys. I'm currently with a woman who actually gets me. She has helped me quite a bit. Good women are rare. I might keep her forever.
OP here>>34988427What I don't get about this kind of feedback, is that, it's as if I have any reluctance about fixing the door.If at any point my wife and I sat down and she said "Hey this is really important to me, can we figure out when we are going to work on this and when we can expect to have this solved?" I would have been 100% happy to do so. That sounds like a dream.I do have like 100 things going on in my life, so if she wants it done by next week, I think we need to talk through all the things I might _not_ do within the next week because I'll be fixing the door instead, which is largely stuff I do to help make her life easier in different ways. After this fight I managed to force that productive conversation, we talked day by day, hour by hour and she shot down ever spare moment I proposed until monday evening next week *maybe*. I couldn't get a hard commit from her that she would let me fix the door instead of whatever else that might spring into her mind by that time.I mean, listen, I am ashamed to have had this issue in the first place. I was in the wrong to let it go on this long. I could probably have done something about it by now. But also, I am pro fixing the door. I am not team mouse poop. I don't groan with irritation at the idea. I love the idea. Coming together and working on a project with my wife makes me excited.
>>34987523"between my partner and me"
>>34988687Sorry I would have said "my wife" but then it would have made it clear who I was in the argument, but it seems like it was obvious anyway.
>>34989211It's not the "partner" he's correcting, idiot - it's the "I"
>>34988497You make a lot of excuses amd dance around the real solution. Just fucking get it done. You don't need your wife to hold your fucking hand or even be involved. If you have time to post on 4chan, you have time to fix the door. Get it done. Get it done. Get it done. ...or give me your address so I can force you to get it done, because you're an annoying little shit and I'd love to smack you around like the lazy bitch you are.
>>34989409I don't post on 4chan. I came here to post this and that is all.Do you have kids? I dont think any of you guys have kids. I can't just walk away and start working on the garage any time I please. Also, when I do have a free moment, I can't go to the garage to solve it then either, because I will probably wake someone up.I don't think you could smack me around.
>>34989371Ah I see. Okay yeah I got that one wrong.
