Finished my Law degree the past year and I want to get a job in the European Union or the UN.Should I do a master or prepare directly for civil service exams? To what extent can a master's degree help me land a good international job?
I'm thinking of same but with business degree, honestly I'm more into economics but I'm too primate to figure out unnecessary math.anyways back to your question,I doubt you get job in such establishments but what you have to lose?
>>34992340A master wont change much, just will say you spent 1 or 2 years more at uni, so more hireable. It also introduces opportunity to do some sort of internship. But still you can do both honestly. You just need some time management and consistency.
>>34992340those jobs are either about the school you went to or who you know.theres a term in government called chain of commandits about authority and delegation but what it really is is a ladder of dick suckingA degree will only give you a mm off the ground which is better than most but getting on your knees is the necessary lift you need to respect chain of command. What school you went to just gives you an ice breaker. Maybe a club to meet others in.But what you should focus on is networking. Read how to win friends and influence people then start to get involved in selling yourself. Go where these people hang out. Social events, meets, intern. This is why politicians are failed actors. They didnt win the looks award but got by on sliming their way around others.
>>34992808A wretched year full of stress, exams, boring and meaningless assignments, and unpaid internships—all just to make my CV look better and gain a point toward the civil service exams. The modern Kali Yuga is the nightmare of exams and the I MUST IMPROOOOVE my CV.
>>34992829>what you should focus on is networking. Read how to win friends and influence people then start to get involved in selling yourself. Go where these people hang out. Social events, meets, intern.I have a problem then, because I'm extremely shy. I just want a job that pays well, helps me move out of my city and it's that, do the job and go home, nothing more.
>>34992827>A master wont change muchReally? People can't stop telling me how important it's. I truly hate there is no clear map for this, if I do the master and it ends in nothing I will have waste year; if I don't do it and it ends up mattering I will regret to start again. The neverending doubt tortures me.
>>34992841if you read the book I mentioned you can still be effective. the gist of it is most people want to talk about themselves and just want you to listen to them.you'd have to change your willingness to go out and schmooze but you can still be effective.it sounds like you want to be in gov and Un for the wrong reasons. those people dont change the world but appeal to investors to pimp their products so the law is in their favor.id look elsewhere like research or something
>>34992856>those people dont change the world but appeal to investors to pimp their products so the law is in their favor.I think I'm in for the right reasons. I just want to skip all the useless boring part to get there.
If someone has done both ways or knows others that have done them, please tell me which one was better. Thanks.
>>34992340Don't get a master's degree without a plan. You haven't even said what kind of degree.>>34992868>I just want to skip all the useless boring part to get there. That's like saying you want to get jacked without working out or want to go to a different continent without having to travel.Who doesn't want the easy way, but that's not how it works.Frankly I don't know how you got a law degree if you need other people to do your thinking for you. AI?
>>34993305>what kind of degree. Some kind of specialized studies of the EU.>AI?Nah, I actually hate the degree, so much that motivated me to finish it. And before you ask >"why did you study a degree you hate?"My family forced me to get a "respectable" one.
>>34993305>without a plan. What type of plan should I have?
>>34993305Could you answer the questions from above?
Yes, AI inflated degrees by one level. Everyone is pushing me into PhDs even though I hate it unless I can do it in two years.
