What are some sure fire ways you know your mechanic is ripping you off
I had a mechanic once. He had a buddy that knew how to work oldtimers like mine. Dude ordered wrong parts 4 times. Then told me ordering the part brand new was going to cost me a thousand bucks. If your mechanic can't even reas OEM numbers, then you have a shitty mechanic. I found the part second trade for 80 bucks too.I feel like you can't really know for sure if you're getting ripped off or not unless you know something about cars yourself or are willing to learn more about them.

Ask for an itemized billCheck the prices against known valuesAka if they're charging $500 for a headlight and they can be bought on eBay for $250, you're being ripped offAnd if they add some shit like "oil filter change" or "cabin filter replacement" but you didn't ask for either of those, you're being scammed. The two major scam moves are to charge you highly for something you don't know the true value of, or to simply charge you for shit you don't know about nor asked for because "your cars going to blow up on the drive home if you don't get this".You know what, just go to a licensed dealership, because you will probably get fucking scammed anyway for being a moron.
