Every time I play deadlock or street fighter or any kind of competitive game, I've never been able to reach any kind of high rank.
I can handle one loss, but I get on a losing streak and start calling myself worthless garbage that deserves to die, no matter how much I try to stop. I always fall into this pattern. I don't know why im like this and I don't know what to do

Have you considered getting good?

On a more real note, achieving top rank in most games is a factor of high precision, whether it is precise inputs or aim training. High game sense. Knowing what the most optimal move is in every possible situation. And your reaction time.

Training the first two requires that you deconstruct the game down mentally. And spend a lot of time focusing on specific aspects.
Reviewing your previous games and geniunely spending tens of minutes to hours on considering what the best move would have been in that position, looking up guides on YouTube. Stuff like that.

You want to be spending more time practicing then playing the game as a baseline.

I feel I am uniquely equipped to help you with this issue. I used to do Counter-Strike LAN tournaments and played in ESEA, with my highest tier being Main. Eventually Counter-Strike became a second job to me and was no longer fun or an outlet to release stress in my life.
High rank genuinely does not matter, what matters is your enjoyment of the video game. The huge problem with multiplayer games these days is that nothing is even in a vacuum anymore when it comes to ranking and level on account of the fact that Internet connections are generally good enough to where you get roughly the same experience that you would if you were playing on the same network/on the same console. You are literally going against the world and you can't possibly keep up with that level of competition. My recommendations are as follow:
>just stop playing competitive multiplayer games
Now unfortunately the board-gamification of Steam makes it so that there's always a new flavor of month co-op game you could be playing, but there are still really good co-op games that exist which tend to release on a decent schedule. And if none of those help, there's an entire catalog of old co-op games you can play.
>recognize that competitive games want you to do this/feel this
The road to gitting gud involves forms of SBMM which always try and balance out your win/loss ratio. Your wins as a result are probably easy wins and your losses are probably just outright fair losses. It takes a ton of time and effort to really get good at competitive games, and a lot of time too these days devs have found ways to nickel and dime you on this path.

That's why I just prefer single player turn-based rpgs

Thank you for the advice.
I do always feel better about myself when im not playing competitive games but when im not I always feel the urge to come back.

I was thinking about joing the military recently, and after my latest melty from an 8 game loss streak in deadlock, I began to question my self worth. Thinking, "why would they want me, if I can't even emotionally handle losing at a video game."
>>
people who are good at video games are losers bro, just do actual hobbies where you create something instead of getting good at useless nerdy shit

Look up emotional (dys)regulation, maybe The Inner Game of Tennis. This is as crucial of a skill to gitting gud as it is to the mechanical and strategical side of video games. Esports organizations have started adding team psychologists alongside coaches to help manage this side of the game. Arenas with rabid gamer crowds and difficult opponents are extremely stressful, and the strongest pros have mastered mental fortitude to withstand these environments. You can be as mechanically and strategically sound as the best, but if you tilt, those two dissipate very quickly.

yeah as a CS player I just play Balatro if I'm feeling too much ladder anxiety. Same grindy feeling without the PvP aspect.

You shouldn't join the military if you live in the USA. It doesn't serve our country.

I know that. I'm just considering it because I want the gibs

>if I can't even emotionally handle losing at a video game
Emotional dysregulation. Short-term, take a break from competitive gaming and find other engaging games. It's detrimental to your self-worth, which you can build in non-competitive environments.
Long-term, find coping strategies to mitigate negative self-talk into something more neutral and objective, so you can constructively engage your mistakes, learn, and improve from them.

Instead of:
>I lost that (objective, duel), I'm a brainlet that needs to rope
You can say to yourself:
>I didn't play that well at all. What went wrong? How can I play that better?
then recall the objective events that led to that loss, and look up resources to fix those issues after the game (YouTube content, aim trainers, combo labbing/matchup resources, etc.)

Decoupling your self-worth from competitive games is also a long-term idea to consider, although that probably requires deeper reflection and a root cause to identify.

The other day, I was entrying into B site Mirage, tried to flick downwards on the van player, and basically threw my mouse off the desk. I tilted, instantly, but recognized that I was tilted, asked my (kind) teammates for a timeout when the tilt didn't go away, and took the 30 seconds to take a few breaths and reset, which was actually a winning play. Deadlock gives you something like that with the growing respawn time (iirc, I haven't played it in a while).

Godspeed, Anon. and don't join the military. On top of it fighting for the protection of Israelis and pedos, it's extremely gay. My Navy friend went through a lot to return to civilian life with his gibs.

>My Navy friend went through a lot to return to civilian life with his gibs.
can you elaborate? I was split between navy and chair force
>>
>>35008353
Navy friend didn't disclose much to me, but had a drinking problem for a while, and then a cannabis one once he left. Please don't think you're the exception to the rule. Becoming an alcoholic is practically a Navy rite of passage.

Nigger, join the mil, get your benefits, nothing you personally do will make a difference in the bigger picture. Go admin if you're scared of combat.
>>
>>35008380
the main reason I was even interested in joining was for learning to fly.
but im realizing my bad eyesight probably means they wouldn't let me
>>
Anon, even if you serve long enough for however long it takes to receive military benefits with an honorable discharge, you'll be so crushed by PTSD that you won't want to do anything with them. Having reflexive self-loathing upon failure combined with some weed-out drill sargeant is going to make you regret being there very quickly.

Plus you're fighting, once again, to defend Israel and pedophilia. You don't even have a moral cause keeping you there.
