Hi, any of you have a healthy relationship with modern technology? If you think that you have one can you describe how it is?
No.I hate modern technology, and how it's all so locked down and chock full of spyware compared to 30 years ago. I hate how it's been turned from something empowering individuals to do and create more than ever, to a tool for the rich and powerful to extract wealth and intellectual property from the masses. I hate how it's been whittled down from dozens of competing companies to a handful of megacorps who are now speedrunning converting all their production over to exclusively data-center production and wiping out the retail market altogether. I hate how the rush to put out new product and get money has long overtaken the need to get things stable and finalized, leading to modern tech being a ton of unfinished and buggy hardware and software built on top of one another, causing issues and errors that end up being 2-3 companies pointing the finger at each other and saying "It's THEIR fault!"But it's what everyone uses, and you can either get with the system or be left behind, so I'm forced to be familiar with all this garbage. Fuck my life and fuck modern tech.
>>35007876> any of you have a healthy relationship with modern technology?I would say I do. It's my job, so I work with teaching old people how to google and use the internet. I also deburr windows and apple systems by removing as much bloatware and spyware as possible (though on some devices that's becoming impossible). I'll often get calls to lobotomize a computer by taking the wifi chip, camera or microphone out.>I'm never going to use my camera and I don't want people watching me.>I don't want my kid being taken advantage of online can you make it impossible to go online?I call them focus models, as it eliminates every distraction from the net. My work computer is entirely offline. I use a smartphone for most of my daily searches as it's a whole lot more locked down.My favorite part of my job is taking old parts from PC's people are throwing away and using the parts to help other devices. Just yesterday I was able to give someone an extra fan, CD drive, RAM, storage and a GPU heatsink from their old computer when moving to a new desktop. All of those parts were perfectly fine and the new case took the old parts like a champ.
