> Be me, doing well investing> Lil bro gives me $40k to invest, no terms, contract or paper trail> I turn this to $150k in 4 years> Never asks me how it's going> Take him abroad, pay for 95% of costs (Hotel/Flights), ask him to pay for food and do logistics> He crashes out, spoilt brat mode, refuses to terms he agreed to earlier> Trip ends with him blocking me everywhere> 2 more years pass, 6 years since the $40k which is now $230k> Still blocked, no communicationWould you keep the money? Return the initial? Share the profits? Wait for him to unblock? I think he has genuinely forgot. I guess not sure if relevant but he has always been a burden to me and I was rather glad when I found he decided to cut me off. Life has been more peaceful without him I my life.
>>35012269Nobody forgets about $40K. He's probably angry because he thinks you've stolen it. This is probably also the reason he was angry two years ago.
>>35012323If you think someone stole your money, would you block them without once asking for it back? I have left all forms of communication open. The reason he was mad 2 years ago was because I called him out for being a spoilt brat and a man child who can't make good on his word.
>>35012269Give him the 40 grand back for fucks sake.I would also hate your guts if I gave you investment capital, you 5xed it then didn't return the principal.
There's more to this story, and since this's a forum you may as well tell it
>>35012269Everyone here is acting like you’re some major cunt lmao but nobody blocks 40k away from themselves if they actually need it. Litigation exists and he’s not using it.But this is weighing on you personally so you should pay him back. If it were me (because I am assuming you have your own money too since you did well with his), I would set it up so that he gets 50k after gifting tax and all. That way he really did get a return on the money in an objective sense, even if it wasn’t the entire return you were technically capable of giving. You can keep the rest of the money forever I guess but if it were still me, I’d just keep it in an account with maybe a little less management in case his eventually gets his head out of his ass or whatever. Then you’ve got a big gift on the backend too.
>>35012749>nobody blocks 40k away from themselves if they actually need it.Using that as a justification not to return the money post-windfall is spiritually kiked, teenager-stealing-from-mums-purse rhetoric. It's the fucking principle of it.If I buy you a lottery ticket, it wins and you refuse to give me that dollar back, you've committed no crime, but you're still a disrespectable lowlife.
>>35012756You sound like somebody who has never had any money. I said to pay him back with a rate of return and told OP to eat the taxes himself. It wasn’t a windfall randomly. It was active management by OP. If little brother doesn’t want to talk that’s his choice but there’s no particular reason to absolutely pamper his ass with your own work afterwards, however insignificant that work may technically be.
>>35012759Yes, and you prefaced that with a petulant declaration that he probably doesn't need the money, thus outing yourself as the shekel-hoarding jew you are.
>>35012759You make total sense, I just want to hear OP expound on what really went down here because details are definitely missing in the narrative
>>35012763and i ended it with this statement >I’d just keep it in an account with maybe a little less management in case his eventually gets his head out of his ass or whatever. Then you’ve got a big gift on the backend too.You can try to frame my advice however you want and im not going to play /pol/ with you on a blue board. You are ridiculous and weirdly entitled on behalf a dude we can safely assume to be just a big a faggot as OP.
>>35012745Ask and I will answer if I can.>>35012749You're right, he doesn't need it and had he remembered he could have asked or went down the legal route. But he recently blocked me on a game site when he saw me online. So this is why I believe he either has genuinley forgot and is still mad at me. We haven"t talked in 3 years and next year will mark 7 since being handed the money.I am still blocked on all the common social platforms + number/email.I have set aside the initial investment in bonds.I sort of want to just see if he will ever reach out and ask about it, in which case I'll give him his initial + interest and cover the tax.
>>35012766>You are ridiculous and weirdly entitled on behalf a dude we can safely assume to be just a big a faggot as OP.What the fuck kind of mental gymnastics could possibly lead you to arrive at the conclusion that the one telling OP they should return the money is the entitled one, and your point that they can probably afford to miss it is not?I didn't respond to the second part of your post because I agreed with it, I called you out on the first sentence, which espouses entitlement to 40 grand of someone else's money, on the basis that they probably have more.
>>35012774I'd talk to a lawyer, after 7 years with no communication who knows if he's even legally entitled to it at this point, especially with no contract and with him actively preventing you from contacting him about it
>>35012784I'm well aware of this. It's why I made the post in the first place. I was curious what other anons would do in my position. Soon he can no longer be legally entitled to any of it, especially since I have proof I have tried to reach out to him in the past about it.I guess I can add that i have supported him in the past both emotionally and financially but he is deadweight and not a good brother. That being said if he does recall the money I would probably make him whole and some, not for his sake but our aging parents would react poorly to legal fights in the family.
>>35012269>>35012323>>35012339Yeah I agree, he probably thinks you've taken his money for yourself, and he's too shy to ask about it, so he just jumped to blocking you.If you can't contact him directly or indirectly, just return his money and wait it out. If he contacts you great, and if he doesn't that's just life.A bit off-topic and I apologize for it, but can you give some tips regarding investing?
>>35012269I remember when my buddy gave me a small loan of a million dollars and I flipped it into a billion in like two weeks. You'll get there too one day, we all will.#WorkSmarterNotHarder
>>35012269You morally and ethically owe him that intitial 40k$ back, with interest at market rate. The full amount if you're a moralist cuck. But the initial 40k at the bare minimum.>>35012763nobody that needs money immediately gives 40k to family to invest for them.>>35012784He's absolutely entitled to his own money ethically and morally. OP never said he was given the money as a gift. You might as well tell op to steal it outright, you aren't arguing for anything different.
>>35012756The reason whether or not his brother needs the money came into play because it defines this situation as philosophical or life based. If he were struggling financially, it would be a life issue and time to set everyone’s pride aside and force the money into his hands whether he wants “to talk” or not.If brother does not -need- the money, then this is a philosophical issue where more than one course of action is defensible.
>>35013240There are no philosophical justifications for stealing the money other than wealth redistibution.OP stated the terms of the cash loan, he was told to invest it.What OP should do is call his brother and inquire about the matter.
>>35012339>If you think someone stole your money, would you block them without once asking for it back?If I was certain they had no intention of returning it, yes, absolutely.
>>35013940But OP can't know unless he asks about it, what OP should do is ask his brother about it.
>>35013347This. Take action to repair your relationship with your brother. Younger siblings need guidance and you can't take an insult from a young man the same way you interpret disrespect from a member of your cohort. Have some grace and for God's sake be honorable.
>>35012269Youre an honorless faggot. Scum of the earth faggot
OP you're a piece of SHIT.
>>35012269I think you're ethically obligated to return his investment. Legally I don't think it can yet count as unclaimed property, and I don't think there's any way for you to claim it that would withstand scrutiny.Simplest way is to probably contact your parents or another family member/mutual contact and have them act as intermediary for transferring the funds or agreeing to something that subtracts any debts he has to you. Though he has no reason to agree unless you threaten him with pursuing said debts.
