>All social interactions are fake, nobody desires to form genuine connections>Applies doubly to women where they will fake interest if you're attractive/charismatic but will coil the second an actual personal subject is brought up>Nobody expresses desires to create anything and just wants ai to do all the work>All forms of "art" are just reiterative slop designed to make money with all of the passion behind their inspirations completely sucked out of themPic related made me realize the worst part of everything. That I'm nearly 30 years old and I'm seeing all the whimsy and joy I had as a child intentionally being sucked out. The original game had me do all sorts of larping as a kid and even inspired me to get into art. Now the passage of time has hit me and my brain is unable to think and capitalize on being creative and I've become as reliant on consumerism for temporary satisfaction as everyone else.
The more thangs is, the more they be like it do, cuh
Oh and I crave for advice on how to get my soul and creativity back since I forgot to explicitly say that.
Find girls who are into innawoods and fishing.
>>35015185I'll make that my next goal, or on my dating app. Like I said, I'm close to 30, and the last woman my age that I knew for a long time and was even outdoorsy ghosted me the second I asked if she wanted to go on a hiking trip with me. There's a chance I'm extremely off-putting and uncomfortable to women, but given how that's also an issue I'm having with interacting with men I think it's just a result of nobody wanting to be in any sort of position where they have to be honest. Either way being surrounded by such people is extremely draining to my soul.
I've come to about the same conclusion, my solution is to surround myself with people that are nice enough (church) and spend my time doing a creative pursuit with no intention of earning money so it won't be corrupted (writing). I don't see myself owning much or having a family but maybe unplugging from the sources of happiness we've been told to go after our whole lives and learning to be content is a good thing. Not sure if that helps you.
>>35014293Social media, or atleast the non-academic parts of it that are hedonic treadmills, are literally drugs, alcohol, marijuana of the 21st century. One cannot call himself/herself to be a teetotaller this century if he/she happens to not consume substances, but gladly consumes the soigoy media that keeps you hooked to it . It's a drug and it's in your best interest to stay the hell away from it
>>35015548It's helpful, my parents are those type of people that will excommunicate others for really minuscule reasons and I haven't really found myself to believe in any religion at least the ones found here. Daoism is pretty cool and I think the ancient Chinese were on to something but, while I can appreciate doing charity work and other things, the messianic complexes and desire to bring about the end of the world is what a lot of people are religious for here and it pisses me off. I will try to get better at writing, as I used to do it. Unfortunately my desire to make my writing better has led me to the conclusion that I need to broaden my connections to people from all over the world, and this issue of lack of sincerity or ability to make friends seems to be a global phenomena.>>35015606I agree with you. I cut off my phone and it worked for a while, but now I'm mostly stuck on my computer now. I don't engage with social media itself much but I am very, very, prone to doomscrolling.
>>35015631>very, very, prone to doomscrolling. Why not join forums or similar places for serious intellectual discussion, if physical bookclubs/thinking spaces are not accessible to you? You must of course use that as a last resort. I bet there are bound to be weekend "thinking cafes" of sorts where professors(STEM hopefully and not the gender studies type), artists, or any other reasonably well accomplished & intelligent people give talks or organize discussions for the layman, well atleast for the layman interested enough to visit and perhaps rich enough to spend money & time in these places that is.
>>35015653I wouldn't know where to find them. My topics of interest are extraordinarily niche. My parents being rather absurd when it comes to religion forced me to study a ton of different religions so I got into comparative religion, and modernity felt so cold to me that I researched a ton about the world before then. Unfortunately, I live in America which doesn't care about either.
>>35015757>I wouldn't know where to find themInsta or just ask any free LLM search engine mein /adv/on? Just try to actively search for something like "convo cafe" or public science lecture series or something of that sort. These could be common in cities or college towns. Try to drag your parents along with you if need be>niche topics of interestwell broaden you horizon. try to explore allied areas. try exploring totally orthogonal areas as well.it could be idk psychology, philosophy of psychology, film analysis, literary analysis, or anything totally different
>>35015840>Insta or just ask any free LLM search engine mein /adv/on? Just try to actively search for something like "convo cafe" or public science lecture series or something of that sort. These could be common in cities or college towns.Couldn't find what you're talking about while searching for it, at least not nearby. I do know what you're talking about though. I have a friend who is still in college and might know some lectures I'd be interested in I can ask about next time I see him. I've also been advised therapy, but honestly I never liked the people who told me to go to therapy so I never trusted that advice. >ell broaden you horizon. try to explore allied areas. try exploring totally orthogonal areas as well.it could be idk psychology, philosophy of psychology, film analysis, literary analysis, or anything totally differentI'm into that, actually I am really into that. So much so that I pretty much turn off everyone once a conversation starts. I have to be light on subscriptions because I don't have a lot of money, so I've just kept my paid clubs to MMA.
>That I'm nearly 30 years old and I'm seeing all the whimsy and joy I had as a child>Pic relatedFucked up as a kid. A whole generation was fed colorful crap and now there's 30 yr old Disney adults. Surround yourselves with more "niceness". As if seeking something genuine isn't a mind numbing drug all to itself
>>35015877>So much so that I pretty much turn off everyone once a conversation startsperhaps you ought to go easy on the "blurting everything I know part" a little bit if that's what is stirring up trouble and have a little "you give me some info/insight, and I'll share some insight and let's see where this tongue n cheek tango is going".I guess I can't offer anymore constructive advice than this. I hope you do manage to find these irl circles sooner by moving out of your town if need be, or at the very least paying weekly or monthly visits to such events by travelling to other cities now and then.
>>35015907To have childlike wonder is to be aware of your temporary nature and that even 100 years is nothing in the grand scheme of existence. The problem with Disney adults is that they tie it to consumerism, and being genuine is one of the most valuable things in life.>>35015940I appreciate the advice. I will admit a lot of my need to go deep into topics is because I am often seen as someone who knows nothing since I keep myself out of drama, and I have some sort of urge to prove them wrong. I will try that in the future, and I will try to actively look for more clubs. My biggest issue is related to me trying to experience different groups outside of my surroundings. Trying to get into Turkish or Japanese groups, despite not being them, for instance, seems daunting and rather difficult.
>>35014293 USE AN OLD PHONE IT CAN PRESERVE YOUR SOUL… NEVER WATCH THIS CLIP. I WARNED YOU. Once you watch it, there's no going back… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSlb1ezRqfA
>>35016088Old phone/good detox phones that work with modern carriers?
I've made an active effort to contact my friends and see if they know any active live communities. I'm going to try and maximize on discovering new people. I probably just need one creative person in my life I can consistently talk to.
>>35014293Look man, Nintendo when they made the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, they did not develop it with the expectation that little 5 year old Timmy would still be playing children's media for the next three decades. The remake happened because it's not for you it's for kids in middle school to enjoy as a first time impression of the game that impressed their dad/uncle/big brother.
You're thinking too much.
>>35020328I don't think the remake is actually for kids, I think it's designed for Nintendo millennials who try to use consumerism to relive old memories. I say this because a movie game with all of its difficulty neutered isn't actually interesting for kids. I don't see much artistic soul in it and the worst part is all of it's blatant reliant on nostalgia has actually really been effective on me.>>35020331I do think my mind is my own greatest enemy. I also think I have to confront it instead of relying on distractions though, especially since I have creative desires.
>>35020373Well I played Ocarina of Time when it came out and I think the remake looks great. Obviously this doesn't objectively mean anything it's just my own perspective. I just don't understand why it's a bad thing there's a remake, it doesn't erase the original, you can still access that at any time.
>>35020383I understand where you're coming from, and if the game inspires you then that's objectively good. I just don't see it as something made with any creative vision and that, along with most of modern media, is pretty depressing. My main frustration is mostly how much the marketing tactics worked against me and how I can't get a game I should've long grown out of out of my head. It feels like my brain is trapped.
I'm just going to use this thread as a mini journal for as long as I can in the hopes that it's helpful in getting my soul back. I've been surrounding myself with literal brainrot online and offline. and modern games aren't really intellectually stimulating so I've never really had anything challenge my brain. I've forced myself to do meditations and it does force me to think, albeit I'm pissed at out hazy I still feel.I've scheduled to meet some friends next week to play board games with. My direction in life has completely disappeared, but developing a semblance of a schedule might get it back. Can't say for sure but it's worth a shot.
>>35014293>my brain is unable to think and capitalize on being creative and I've become as reliant on consumerism for temporary satisfaction as everyone elseThat's just you projectingDrop the phone and video games and nurture your creative hobbies
>>35022110>Drop the phone and video games and nurture your creative hobbiesI can buy the people I'm around with being more focused because they actually care about their jobs and most have them have done it well before AI was a thing, I just don't buy them being very creative. Perhaps I just haven't found the right crowd, but it does seem like the average person is addicted to blind consumerism and outsourcing creativity to AI. Doesn't excuse it for me though.
Had a heart to heart conversation with one of my few friends. He told me I was forcing the creativity to try and find meaning in life and I realized I should probably simply be creative as a means of simplifying my beliefs/life experiences and for no other reason. At the very least then I can use my works to gauge if someone is interested in me as a person. Still looking for those niche clubs to find creatively interested people but I'm asking around.
After reading the whole thread, I must say, I somewhat relate to you when it comes to creativity and soul, I've been genuinely missing these two things in media, entertainment, society, people and especially myself. Every year it gets worse, the downtrend started to get noticeable in 2012, got increasingly bad in 2016, then the worst yet in 2020. I just feel numb and uninterested in 99% of modern anything out there, and in the same way, my creativity, ideas, imagination and wonder, mostly gone... I don't know if there's something wrong with me, if stuff nowadays is just that bad, or both.I'm not sure this could serve as advice -since I may be in a even worse state than you-, but I've been having glimpses of childlike joy, wonder and excitement when engaging in artful things, and it doesn't really matter what it is as long as it was made by someone that cared and had an intention. If is something you are into, you will definitely get a connection and appreciation for the work and, maybe, even a feeling of inspiration. If you are wondering what exactly I'm doing, it's a few things, such as such as looking at architectural works, sculptures, paintings and illustrations, these are even better if you see it in person or through a book. Sometimes I find good and authentic modern artists but most of the time I'm looking at decades to centuries old art. Then there's music, bigger names it's mostly old-er artists(before 2005), modern artists are either underground or very unknown, the best way to find my niche taste so far has been through soundcloud and spotify, but nowadays it has been getting grim since AI music has been flooding the apps.
>>35028449And lastly, video-games, games from 1995 to 2010 were just pure SOVL, sometimes I replay classics from my childhood but it's also great to just go and look for games you've never played from this era, picrel as example(Overlord), sure it's not that great of a game but the atmosphere and art direction is just so unique that my brain started to fill in the blanks about the game's world itself, been a while since a game activated my imagination like that, and there is many more gems out there. To a lesser extent, there's also indie games, much harder for me to find one I really like but they exist. Anyway, you might find like minded people when engaging in such hobbies, I'm still on the lookout, but I'm hopeful. Besides all that, exercising(if don't already) might help getting some sparks in your brain, I remember swimming when younger and coming home very willing to do stuff even if I was tired.
>>35028449>I don't know if there's something wrong with me, if stuff nowadays is just that bad, or both. For me it feels like I used to be an odd ball out of society for being so creative focused, but ever since I've started integrating I've lost that spark that was in my soul.>I'm not sure this could serve as advice -since I may be in a even worse state than you-, but I've been having glimpses of childlike joy, wonder and excitement when engaging in artful things, and it doesn't really matter what it is as long as it was made by someone that cared and had an intention.I appreciate it too. I definitely care about intent a lot, sometimes even more than execution. Everything seems like it's done for money that it bleeds into their work, it's why I am almost always not a big fan of remakes since it just turns an originally partially artistic project into one purely made for money. Still, I won't pretend that I wasn't guilty of this, because I was encouraged to make art my main career young and it definitely has bled into my inability to make anything because it won't churn a profit.>If you are wondering what exactly I'm doing, it's a few things, such as such as looking at architectural works, sculptures, paintings and illustrations, these are even better if you see it in person or through a book.I need to go through more art museums. Tried to get my friends involved, never really works.>>35028450>And lastly, video-games, games from 1995 to 2010 were just pure SOVL, sometimes I replay classics from my childhood but it's also great to just go and look for games you've never played from this eraI'm the same. Busted out my old N64 to play the original of said game, probably will eventually move on to Gamecube and PS2 era. Might even touch SOME PS3 games though I am mixed on how I feel about the aesthetic sense of those era of games.
>>35028450>>35028503Hit character limit. I do exercise, but mostly rather late, maybe I should do it earlier in the morning so I'm more energized throughout the day. I thought doing it later would be better because it makes you tired and thus easier to sleep, but my schedule makes that different anyways.
>>35014293Go up to foids and ask them to be gf. Bring up personal subject to filter out fake interest.
>>35030106I've brought up personal subject matters to see if they are interest. Some even have an actual interest, get creeped out when I ask them out on a date though. Maybe I need to go more schizo on my topics instead of talking about typical nerd stuff to truly filter.
