how true is this image? I'm really holding out hope that this is true. I'm 28 and feel so fucking far behind, I'm barely even a person at all. I don't know who I am. I don't have the accomplishments or experience that most people my age have and I can't see any of that magically changing when I hit 30. I have no decent career prospects whatsoever. How the fuck am I almost 30, it feels like it was only yesterday that I was a teenager.
>>
No, nothing magically changes when you turn 30. It’s just that if you’re advancing in your life along the normal pace, by the time you’re 30 you are
>still young
>but with a lot more stability/purchasing power
>>
Somewhat true.
Many things changed around 30. My son growing out of babyhood etc. It's not 30 years being magical but 10 years being magical. The things I've been doing in my 20s start really paying off
>>
I freaked out when I hit 30 but that was dumb in hindsight. It's 40 that sucks. That's when your over the hill and it's all down hill from there
30-40 is your last of the good decades, enjoy it
>>
If you're still a mentally ill fuckup in your 30s then no, it's horrible
>>
It's true. It's almost like they want you to fail or entirely check out before 30 so you don't get to experience it. Not sure this holds true for women tho
>>
>>35016671
It's cope from a coping childless hag.
Not to say turning 30 is some disaster but it is in no ways some improvement from being in your youthful years.
Otherwise why do people strive to be youthful? It's ridiculous.
>>
There are zero benefits getting older, neither physically or mentally, as you're at the point of feeling time passing by much faster. You being a loser or made in your 20s doesn't really matter in those aspects, maybe more regret in the former.
I guess the only thing is that you're basically solidified as a person by that time and know if you're gonna go places or not, giving you some peace of mind.
>>
>>35016699
When you are 60 you will wish you were 40
>>
>>35016671
>I don't know who I am. I don't have the accomplishments or experience that most people my age have and I can't see any of that magically changing when I hit 30.
That's because you haven't challenged yourself enough in your 20s to learn those things. 30s are different because (if you put the time into it) you found what you were good at, what you were bad at, what your limits are, what your strengths are, what you need help with from others (and when), and how to make the most of opportunities when they present themselves. You were supposed to be taking risks and making mistakes so that you learned from the process and can develop a more consistent and stable environment for yourself.

I accomplished all of my largest and most fulfilling life goals just before and during my 30s. I'm now in my 40s and have 3 kids to support so while I know what I'm missing out on, I also know how nothing lasts forever and I have different priorities and different stakes that I have to consider before making decisions.
>>
Find a woman and put a babby in her. That's the only thing that matters.
>>
>>35016671
Life after 30 is pretty much just comes down to your own personal choices but be aware that your youth is behind you, that's the point. You can drink like crazy but your body cannot keep up past a certain age, You can return to school but at a certain age you're limited to how much new info you absorb, You can fuck young bitches and jet set but at a certain age you will look like the gross unc trying to party with the youth. Nothing is stopping you, but be aware of how your age plays into it. There's a reason why there are 30+ adults into Pokemon and why there's ppl who call them weird or losers despite them being just an older person.
>>
>>35016671
Life mentally becomes easier the longer you deal with it but it doesn't suddenly become sunshine and rainbows.
>>
>>35017015
I see your point, but I'd also argue that the guys who got it together before 30 were also the ones who were turbo tarded about education or money. That's not every guy, yeah OP feels left behind but if his life never needed any type of challenge then hows that his fault and what can he do to steer the ship? Is the key just throwing yourself against the cliff? For example, If I live with my parents, should I test myself by moving out? Even though I save far greater money living with them?
>>
My life significantly improved in my 30s, but it's not a silver bullet to all of life's problems, either. You'll still have a shitload of disappointments and other problems, but at least you're better equipped for them by that point.
>>
If you are some weird femcel who does not value being a team-player yes that image applies to you. However if you are the average adult who struggles to get along with his peers and is outcasted from most things including the ability to have a considerate listener, then no that does not apply to you, and you kind of have to adapt to it.
>>
>>35016725
This. Just gets worse
>>
>>35016671
Honestly, around 33 was when I first started to feel like I was aging physically. Like feeling a general lethargy and starting to have to be mindful of how I love incase I pull a muscle etc.

I honestly suggest exercising etc before then. And trying to get your health in order before then
>>
My knees are burning as I lay here in bed, my callused feet aching, my legs throbbing
>>
>>35016671
My life didn't magically get better when I turned 30, I can deal with things better but that is about it.
>>
>>35016671
It's relatively true. But good luck getting people to acknowledge the reasons why, because one of those reasons is that the majority of women get really horny for the 30 year old man. 35 is the sweetspot. Men are in their 'prime' at thirty
>>
>>35016820
>There are zero benefits getting older, neither physically or mentally
You're supposed to have matured mentally. That's a benefit. Don't tell me you're one of those 'neurodiverse' types?
>>
>>35016671
Nothing magically changes when you hit 30. At 27 I was still working an entry level job and had the realization that I would be a loser if I stayed where I was at. I resolved to kill myself if I wasn't making a certain amount of money by age 30. Threw myself into an entirely different industry and ended up over my goal by age 30. Suicide averted, pride restored.
>>
>>35017603
>Matured mentally
That means absolutely nothing and is mostly cope by aging males. Being pressured into knowing your place, playing "safe"(scared) and staying indoors on the weekends is also considered "mature", while chasing tail and opportunities unconventionally is not, and we both know who's life is better in every aspect.
>>
>>35017791
Opportunities are worthless if you don't keep the outcomes from them. If all a man does is chase opportunities and nothing grows from them and he keeps moving from one opportunity to the next, only ever starting things and never finishing them then I don't think that speaks well about his potency.
>>
>>35017599
Chat is this true?
>>
>>35016671
This is how it works:
You live and experience things. Every day, you deal with new shit and trouble and struggle through. Learn and adapt.
Then, as you're older, the things that devastated you when you are young are a mild inconvenience because you now know how to handle it.
Nothing changes. Life doesn't get easier. It gets harder. But *YOU* get better at handling it. So that everything feels easier. It's like trying to teach a young person how to read an analog clock or write cursive or do math and they're mystified. But it's easy.

If you spend your entire life hunkered down waiting for the world to become a nice, gentle place, you won't adapt to reality.
>>
Being 30 as a man is like that
Being 30 as a woman is the complete opposite
>>
Kind of true in my experience. Of course it depends on the person and their circumstances, but society really pushes that ages 15-25 is when you are having a blast and everything after is kind of boring/disappointing. It is that way for some but it is also not rare to spend that adolescent period absolutely riddled with insecurities, hang ups, depressive feelings etc and those tend to lift with age. Then you might have less energy or less easy opportunities to socialize but you will still more easily have fun than back when you were younger. Personally I also found a lot of people very vapid as a teen/early twenties person, just about everyone would sooner or later tell me something like
>stop overthinking
>be less serious
>lol why do you care
just when I felt the conversation was getting good. I was just about ready to accept I was just out of the loop and then I got into my mid twenties and suddenly people were willing and able to go deep and be real much more often and appreciated being asked hard questions.

I'm 33 and of course I sometimes feel whistful remembering the endless energy I had ten years ago, being able to eat anything and everything without gaining weight, feeling like your future is endless and totally open. But I would not go back in time if you paid me. And I don't exactly have a very accomplished life for my age either, I just do enjoy being older more.
>>
>>35016671
By every measure - social, professional, romantic, financial, and general quality of life - my 30s have been FAR better than my 20s were.
>>
>>35017603
As a diagnosed autistic retard, I am much less retarded at 30 than I was at 20.
>>
>>35017164
>For example, If I live with my parents, should I test myself by moving out? Even though I save far greater money living with them?
I lived with my parents during my 20s, but I still challenged myself with a lot of extracurricular effort, invested in a lot of tools and skills, and I slow-boated my college experience so I would have more free time to devote to exploring my talents.
By "challenge" I don't mean jumping head first into spending money you don't need to. I mean trying a wider variety of things and learning as wide a variety of skills as you can manage. And don't shy away from working way harder than you think is possible. I learned I can feel fulfilled and content even while working 60 or 70 hours a week. "Free time" and "leisure" are really over-valued things that people waste complacently. You don't know where your limits are if you never reach towards them.
>>
Has been true for most of my friends. At 30 you earn more and can afford to do more stuff you enjoy, while also being more mature so you really just stop caring at all about a lot of dumb puerile shit.
I'm still kinda pathetic and hopeless, regardless of age. But that's my fault. It doesn't have to be you, anon.
>>
>>35016671
It's cope. I squandered my teens and 20s and regret it all the time. I have more knowledge and experience now, but it'd be better if I had this knowledge 10-15 years ago.
FWIW, I'm a legally disabled NEET autist who lives with his mother. There are teenagers who live more adult lives than I do, having jobs and cars and girlfriends.
>>
A lot of cope ITT.
>''Umm, ackshually, I'm more mature now and it totally doesn't bother me that any childhood hopes and dreams I had will never come true. I earn 500 bucks per month more than 10 years ago, so yeah... I'm pretty financially stable''
>>
>>35018443
>it'd be better if I had this knowledge 10-15 years ago.
That's irrelevant. Of course we'd all be better off if we knew more earlier.

>>35018474
>I'm more mature now
Not really. I was always mature and fun loving.

>it totally doesn't bother me that any childhood hopes and dreams I had will never come true
The fuck are you on about? I haven't given up on anything. I'm still working towards a better future. I'll never fuck a teenager but I was able to fuck a girl who was half my age when we met. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take, anon.

How's your life?
What's your advice?
>>
>>35016671
Well for most people when you're 30 is around where you will be completely financially independent which is nice. Sounds like that won't be the case for you though which is not so nice.
>>
>>35018117
thanks for the clarification brother. I ask because I'm a crossroads, I'm 36 and while I could do more, life has treated me pretty well to the point I guess you can call it stagnating?
>>
>>35018474
If you're hungry up on childhood dreams it means you still dream like a child. Grow up.
>>
>>35018827
Ah fuck. FUCK. Shit I made a typo I meant to say hung up. FUCK NOW I LOST. Anon don't look at it! Don't look at it!!!

>>
>>35018863
Bro come on, cut the witty crap. Believe in yourself.
>>
>>35016671
It varies hugely. When I hit 30 proper I began feeling much more content and at ease with the unconventional life choices I have made, but these last couple months that feeling has faded away. Why? Because the job I was counting on to always be there for me pulled the rug and refused to rehire me. And then when I tried to solicit a job, I hit a brick wall of silence.

Now I continue to wander the world aimlessly, watching my savings decline, seriously doubting my ability to convince some HR roastie (or any woman for that matter) to take a chance on me. Women, being materialist creatures, HATE guys who don't own anything. You are dirt to them, and they treat you as such. They will block you from finding success until you comply with their expectations.
>>
>>35016671
When you hit 30 you get an Age-related crisis because moving that 10 counter is intuitively a milestone. You start reassessing what you have done and questioning your future, it feels like the last call to fix up your shit.

By then, people who have had ordinary lives will have two loving children older than 5, from 5 to 10 years of experience in a job, a PhD or exceptionally finally matched into a medicine residency training program, or even finished it. Meaning if you're troubled, your troubles compound, pressure increases and you either conform, suffer harder or kill yourself. The comic, is basically a woman in denial.

Watch the movie "13 over 30" or something like that, a little girl who gets aged up and sees both shit is full of responsibilities and that 30 somethings have forgotten what being not-cynical is like.
>>
How over is it if I'm still single and have never been in relationship by my 30s?
>>
>>35018991
>Women, being materialist creatures, HATE guys who don't own anything.
The idea is to be such a mildly decent human being that the average person likes you before knowing what you own.

That said, women seeking relationships crave security. A man who has nothing, no prospects for anything, and no attachments to anything that will keep him around tomorrow aren't exactly broadcasting "security".
Might as well be mad at men for being attracted to healthy women.
Wealth is a proxy for security.
Youth is a proxy for health.
>>
>>35016671
It's a bit copey, 30 is just around the time you come to accept the reality of your situation instead of entertaining the idea of a fantastical future. Physically it sucks because you have to start paying attention if you don't want to have shit QoL in middle age.
>>
>>35016671
First, delete social media. Especially any that connects you to people you went to school with. After that, sit down and take a sort through your hobbies and interests and research whether any have career viability. If not, get a trade degree or get into an entry-level job that will allow you to move up.
>>
>>35016671
I'm in my 40's and life has never been better. But I worked hard to have money, dieted and exercised religiously etc. Never got married or had kids. So I'm richer than most people and get mistaken for half my age, sleep great, wake up in the morning feeling perky, on the rare occasion I drink no horrible hangover and other BS that's supposed to inevitable come with age but actually comes from neglecting your body.
Plus when you are older you stop givinh AF. "Muh accomplishments", "muh' social currency" kek. All you need is money.
>>
>>35020169
Liar
>>
I have an easier time getting women now but that is about it, mainly women my age are easier but even women in their 20s give me a bit more attention than when I was in my 20s. This is probably more so do the fact I decided to get in shape around 28 because I knew the clock was ticking and wanted to take care of myself.

Mentally shit is easier though, certain circumstances didn't get better but I can deal with stress better now not much really gets to me like it did when I was young.

Western women have never been richer and safer. What the fuck are you talking about?
>>
>>35020299
How are you meeting young women now if you don't mind me asking?
>>
>>35022093
Believe it or not VRChat, I live in a big metropolitan area and run into some of them on there and they end up being not far away to meet up.
>>
>>35016671
it all depends on if you have money or not. since i dont, im still basically an emo kid loner with back problems now, mad at the world instead of my parents. and that was just in the old world. in this world, im totally fucked. nothing is ever getting better. even if i had money, everything and everyone has become horrible. at least no major health issues yet.
women dont magically want me because im 37. and even if they did they're all horrible anyway. and i am also bad because part of me wants them just for hookups.
>>
I'm 35 but feel like an isolated child in my body. Retarded, no skills, no personality, no friends, no relationships, never had sex, nothing. Why am I still alive?
>>
>>35016873
why? you're a millionaire who can do crazy shit
>>
>>35016671
Look man everybody is far behind. Life doesn't start getting awesome until you move out. You don't mention that you still live at home but I think you probably do. Get out of there. The good part of being an adult is having financial freedom, living alone, doing what you want. If you're a neet in your parents' basement then yeah being an adult blows.
t. Did not start living until age 25
>>
>>35022089
And the richer, safer women also become catladies at a higher rate than anywhere else. Everything balances out
>>
>>35016671
Things looked up for me 30-34 but 35 was like jumping off a cliff. Find a long term girlfriend and stick with her before you hit that wall.
>>
>>35024561
lol do you really think the average 60 year old in 2026 is a millionaire
>>
>>35016671
before you turn 30 you build your life, after you turn 30 you live with it.
As I get older opportunities dry up bigly, but my quality of life has gone up immensely. Society is constantly trying to fuck you over, it takes time to learn how to defend yourself.

The idea of having a happy & successful life is basically over for me tho; if that doesnt happen when youre young it wont be allowed to happen ever.
>>
>>35016671
in my case I started enjoying life at the ripe age of 32
I had a chaotic life at home, me being latino from a wealthy family my teenage years were extended into my 20s, in all senses, still controlled by my parents, still told what to do and when to do it, but my food, travels, expensive university, car and everything paid by them, so I can't really complain and even then I didn't complain all that much.
at 32 I felt more comfortable in my skin, I started managing some of my parents wealth without them being over controlling, and in general I dated more, went out more, and could spend more freely my time, my money and my energy.
In general I'd say 30s is the start of everything if you have your finances already figured out, but it's just more of the same hell if you're poor, my friends are barely any better than when they were 25, just with way more aching body parts.
>>
Lol. Op said he was 28 in the first post and anons are all
>well little Timmy, if you start your path as a doctor at 18, here's your life path!
Get the fuck out of here kek
>>
>>35016671
In a way you have more freedom because you stop caring.
My dating life picked up because of that but then I caught oneitis so fuck it.
>>
The average /adv/ anon just wants get wife'd up and get a job they can be mediocre at while still living "comfy", so no it's not too late for that. You could really do that deep into your 40s.

The men are emotionally desperate and lonely and the women are business minded now, what a time to live in
>>
>>35017911
No
>>
>>35016671
I was more or less where you are now when I was your age. I'm 31 now.
I wasn't thirty for long before I realized I was kinda panicking over nothing but, at the same time, several things about my life had to change for me to be happy with myself at 40.
Building career prospects more or less from scratch at this point in your life is difficult but certainly worth the effort. It's not impossible, just hard.

Young trans women with daddy issues give me lot of attention and sex but beyond that not much has changed beyond mental outlook. I'm more mentally hardened, so whatever life throws at me hardly phases me like it use to.

Are you in debt? Do you have kids? Do you suffer from any addiction to drugs/gambling/hookers? If the answer's no, then you're in a good position to start fresh. Other people are ahead of you, but there's also a lot of people bogged down too.
>>
>>35016671
Well what accomplishments or experience do other people have that you don't
