I’m 23 years old, and I’ve never had any work experience in my whole life. Deep down, this is something that makes me feel a bit discouraged, and I’m really keen to turn the situation around and try to find a job that will help me build a financial foundation. I want to be more independent and be able to support my family properly, as long as I still live with them. However, I feel a certain amount of anxiety that is holding me back from looking for work, mainly because I think I’d have a panic attack just walking into a company and asking for information about job vacancies. The anxiety also stems from feeling like I lack the necessary skills for certain jobs that require a lot of daily social interaction. Though they are not as bad as they formerly were, I have a history of mental health problems, including depression and anxiety, along with acute isolation. I know it sounds completely retarded, but the whirlwind of thoughts I have just won’t go away. Someone advised me to go to an employment office to see what might happen, but I’d honestly like some advice on how to deal with the situation I’m facing.

It’s really disheartening to see how even the least capable people I know manage to find work, while I've never had a job in my entire life. Any suggestions you think might help me find a stable job—one that doesn’t require too many social or math skills (although I’m willing to gradually improve in both areas)—would be most welcome.

Any sort of factory/manufacturing jobs would be a good start for you. Work would be hard, but typically pays better than any fast food gig you’re ever gonna get. Also, they don’t really require any customer service or arithmetic skills.

Just give it your best that’s all you can do, allow yourself to make mistakes and grow as a person and you’ll be all right. We all start somewhere, allowing yourself to take that first step and allow allowing yourself to fail and learn from those mistakes will only lead you into success.

You can look on online jobs boards for local opportunities. Many interviews are done online, making them more manageable to approach.

You just have to remember you are one guy they interact with of dozens if not hundreds in those companies. If you don't get the job, probably 100 other niggas didn't get it either that week, nobody will remember you in particular
