Should I tell recruiters that I am autistic? If I join a company and no one knows, should I inform my superiors that I am autistic on my very first day of work? Or should I let them find out over time?
>>35030756Now that autism is a meme and somehow literally every person on Earth has it, I would not ever say it directly. People will not see you as autistic but as a tiktok larper. Let them assume whether you’re autistic or not. If they don’t assume you have autism, then why do they ever need to know? If they do assume you have autism, they need to keep their mouth shut about it. If somebody asks “are you autistic?”, just stare at them like they asked you to take your pants off.At no point do any of them need to know you have autism unless you’re asked to do something that you cannot do.
Fuck no, you will be discriminated against by retards who will write you off immediately
>>35030762But it’s only a matter of time. Everyone I interact with on a daily basis finds out that I’m autistic, sooner or later.
>>35030756The only reason to disclose that is for legal protections in case you experience discrimination.
>>35030770Then let that happen. Trying to get out in front of it really doesn’t do anything for you, I promise. I’m one of those nerd who gets accused of being autistic by normies sometimes in jest but I don’t actually fit hardly any of the true clinical qualifiers. They just mean i’m eccentric. I have worked with actually and obviously autistic people in a nice office, though, having had a cool nepo job from a friend’s dad right out of high school. The people who were obviously autistic but just showed up and did their work and weren’t cunts, everybody liked them and had nothing but good things to say behind their backs. Sometimes a bit of pity and slack were given if the situation called for it. We only had one or two “openly autistic” people but everyone thought they were fucking annoying and hardly ever had anything nice to say about them. People will understand the fact that you’re autistic unless they’re total dickheads. We’re down on normies on this site but people really do get it for the most part. If you talk about your autism or immediately make it the primary point of your identity in their mind, they’re going to see that as imposing.
>>35030795This is good advice, thank you.
>>35030806Glad it could help! I thought of a kind of funny example that might drive it home well. If you were then new guy in the office and you can to introduce yourself to me and said>Hi, I’m anon the new guy. I fucking love trains. Thomas goes WhooWOOOOI would know 100% for sure that you’re autistic but in my mind the primary point of your identity would be liking trains thus far. If you said>Hi, I’m anon the new guy. I’m autistic so things might be harder for me than the average person but i’ll do my best!I would think “oh… this fuckin’ guy” and the primary point of your identity in my mind would be “autistic”Just be anon first and foremost so that when people eventually do find out, it’s “Anon who happens to be autistic” rather than “the autistic guy”
>>35030756You should just disreagrd your meme diagnosis and work on your social anxiety instead. You wil be surprised how quickly you stop being "autistic" once you follow basic cognitive behavioural therapy concepts.
