Post animals that make interesting sounds. Bonus points for surprises: if you'd never expect that animal to make that particular sound, all the better. To begin: Goldie's Bird-of-paradise:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_yr2eB7_Vk
Tree Hyrax. No, not the awawa kind of hyrax; everybody knows about those. Tree hyraxes are mainly nocturnal and are infamous for loud, eerie, screaming in the middle of the night. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsiczkOZuFA> it starts with a series of loud, measured cracking sounds, sometimes compared to "a huge gate with rusted hinges being forced open". This is then followed by a series of "unearthly screams", ending in a descending series of expiring shrieks

>>5124403>>5124406"Grasshopper mice prey on highly venomous arthropods. One example is centipedes that normally kill less resistant mice by injecting deadly toxins through their venomous forcipules. Grasshopper mice move swiftly, while centipedes can only inject their toxin if their prey is held by the centipede's needle-sharp claws. The mouse is agile enough to stay out of the reach of the centipede's claws. The mouse attacks by repeatedly biting through the centipede's hard exoskeleton. Each attack on the centipede damages its central nervous system, until the centipede is paralyzed and the grasshopper mouse can eat it safely.Another example of a venomous arthropod is the bark scorpion (Centruroides sculpturatus). The grasshopper mouse survives in the deserts of southwest United States by feeding on the bark scorpion, which are plentiful, due to other resources being less common."
