Depends on the bun. One of my buns I have to do every month, minimum. For whatever reason, my lionhead's nails grow slower (in length) but thicker, so less often.
As my buns got older, it actually got easier to trim their nails. After five years, my lionhead is very easy to trim. First four years sucked though.

Sadly I think there's too many of them around for one person to take care of, on my morning walk I've seen at least 4 of these fat fucks. If you know a vet office of some sort, they may be your second best option. As for how to identify wild bunnies from strays:

Generally, any coat other than the brownish one you see here is tray. The white, cocoa, hazel, sand, black etc. coated bunnies are domestic only, but where it gets spotty are the bunnies bred to *look* wild. Those I have no real expertise in, but what I can say is that the bunny in the bottom right of *this* image is a stray.

And as for hares, they're lankier and have different eyes.

I am thinking of getting a bunny. I live in an apartment that will let me get one.

How much space should I dedicate to the bunny if I get it? I was thinking of having a nice hutch connecting out into a ~32” tall playpen that would be about 6 ft by 8 ft?

The bunny would spend most of its time in there minus an hour or so of being freely available to run in my room (very large master bedroom)

Is the cottontail rabbit starting to go extinct in Wyoming? I kve in a small rural town in the southeastern area of the state and I barely ever see adult rabbits even at dawn/dusk, and I only saw one baby one at the beginning of April. We have a lot of stray cats in town, unfortunately, and we've had little rain, so I fear they might've deemed this town inhospitable. I want any tips possible for rabbitspotting and to get rare footage of a mama rabbit tending her den. I just can't find them, not near the school, not nesr the park, not even in the airport that's a little outta town.

My rabbit has had some kind of medical issue for a month now, and after numerous vet visits, I'm out of ideas. I need to know if any of you have any advice.

A few times a year for the past 2 or 3 years, he would get some kind of gastrointestinal pain that would cause him to stop eating and we would have to take him to the emergency vet for painkillers, fluid injection, etc. to help him recover. Since it kept happening we tried playing around with his diet, reducing the amount of greens we give him and so on.

But about a month ago, his poop started to get weird, large and runny, and he seemed more lethargic. He had an interest in treats but not hay. This has gone on for weeks now, all vitals seemed fine at a checkup and bloodwork came back with no unusual results. He's sometimes visibly in pain and grinding his teeth, and a small spur was found on his tooth (not big enough to be a serious problem) so we got it removed, but his problems still persisted after. He seems really out of it, leaves runny stool in places where he didn't used to go (he's normally trained to use a specific spot.) Looks really tired, grinds teeth loudly, ignores most food. But when we give him a favorite treat like a banana, he suddenly goes back to his old self, excitedly running up to grab it like nothing's wrong. Have been syringe feeding him critical care multiple times a day lately. I think it's a gut issue but there's apparently no evidence of that. Anyone know what it could be, or what might help?

It happened so fast I tried to cool him down and did everything I could. He died in my arm all I could do was let him know I loved him no matter what and kept telling him how sorry i was. I called him rabbit but his name was actually Charles. This is him in the photo laying down living his best life just hanging out. He was well trained and would potty in his cage when needed and would often go back to his cage whenever he got hungry or need to go to the bathroom. God i fucking miss his presence. I never cried for a rabbit until that day. I got mad at my gf and told her she killed our rabbit out of anger but I couldn't blame her... I should have known better.

We leave timothy hay available 24/7 and feed him a salad of parsley and green leaf lettuce in the morning, then give him a few pellets/treats 3 times throughout the second half of the day, plus the occasional fruit/vegetable as an extra treat. Cut out lettuce a while ago to see if it helped, now we are trying to cut out everything but hay and water entirely. He's normally free roam around our house, tonight we have him in his enclosure with just hay and water. I think the lack of solid food/fiber has probably been the cause of runny stool. It's just so weird that his energy levels are so varied, yesterday he looked on the verge of death, today he followed me into my room to play with me. Strange creatures.

In southern missouri there are cottontail rabbits everywhere here. They like my backyard because I don't have a dog and I have wild grass that is mowed each week but it has tons of clover and various wild shit that grows fast and it's a buffet for them. They come right up to my patio where I'm sitting sometimes. They are chill. I like them. Apparently they don't thrive in untouched wild land, but they thrive on the edges of suburbia and country where they can find gardens and edges of Forrest by open fields. More food and less predators. During the day they like to burrow and hide from birds of prey. Coyotes are not far but they can't come into fenced backyards so rabbits like it here. They just hop fences into the neighbors yards when their dogs ain't outside. Pretty sure they burrow in my front garden under a bush. If I had a vegetable garden or cared about my landscaping they would probably piss me off but I don't so I don't mind.
