I knew these creatures were demonic. A recent study assessed the hypothesis that killer whales (Orcinus orca) are preying on their own species. Researchers found two examples of severed killer whale fins bearing telltale marks of killer whale bites, both on Russia’s Pacific coast off Bering Island. Discovered just over a mile apart, the fins were from a juvenile killer whale and an adult female or juvenile male, respectively. The spacing and size of the fresh bite scars pointed to an act of killer whale predation. An obvious question is whether the bite marks were evidence of a fight rather than premeditated murder. But, “if it was just aggression, they wouldn’t bother to tear off the fin,” reasoned study author and whale biologist Olga Filatova in a press release. When killer whales hunt, they tend to go for the richer body parts like organs, leaving fins and other low-energy parts behind. So, the detached fins suggested an act of predation—a fin torn off to access the soft body parts.https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/mms.70142
>>5119010>if it was just aggression, they wouldn’t bother to tear off the finthat does make sense thoughtwhat a bullshit article
>>5119023did you read the rest of the paragraph? orcas tear off the fin during predation to access the softer body parts for consumption. That's how they hunt sharks, porpoises, other cetaceans, etc.
>>5119026>That's how they hunt sharks, porpoises, other cetaceans, etcIt isn’t though. Large sharks have their abdominal cavity split open so the liver can be removed, while large cetaceans like minke whales have their tongues/lower jaw eaten. In both cases the rest of the body is discarded with fins intact. Smaller prey like porpoises are consumed entirely. If this was the result of cannibalism then the removal of dorsal fins is new behaviour
>>5119050You think this is the result of aggressive play rather than predation?...
>>5119054this is what Megalodon did to orca ancestors back in the day
>>5119054You say that as if orcas don’t regularly pummel other animals to death and rip them to shreds during play. Also I didn’t say that it wasn’t predation, just that if it is then it’s completely different behaviour to what we see when they hunt sharks, porpoises, etc
>>5119080If it was predation, then it was cannibalism
>>5119010>demonicYou mean basedCannibalism is the thinking whale’s sport
>>5119010Brothers and sisters are natural enemiesLike sperm whales and orcasOr humpbacks and orcasOr minke whales and orcasOr orcas and other orcasDamn orcas, they ruin the ocean!
>>5119121do you also practice cannibalism?
>>5119054why does it need to be just aggressive play, I bet there are situations where orcas just straight up murder each other for other reasons than eating the opponent. and tearing off fins seem like a great way to incapacitate another orca
>>5119134that makes them sound even worse
>>5119010There's nothing wrong with cannibalism.
>>5119103I didn’t say that it wouldn’t be cannibalism if it was predation retard. Learn some reading comprehension
>>5119126Are you also a whale?
>>5119221yes, my name is Randy Fine
>>5119228So what’s stopping you?
>>5119010what an evil fish
Of course it's the ruskie orcas...
>>5119142I don't see how that makes them different from any other animal, especially humans. btw I'm not basing this on anything but I bet humans aversion to cannibalism is mostly a cultural thing, I bet grugg didn't give a shit about chomping on another human, or at least ones that didn't belong to his own tribe
>>5119297It gives you prion disease
>>5119297>I bet grugg didn't give a shit about chomping on another human, or at least ones that didn't belong to his own tribeNeanderthals for one apparently preferred not to: there are a few examples of cannibalized remains, but they're rare and sloppily butchered (indicating far less experience at dressing the carcass than that of other animals), so it's unlikely to have been common and more probably only done in dire conditions where no other food was available, potentially on those who had already perished (not unlike what happened with the Donner party or Franklin expedition)
>>5119297humans probably taste awful
>>5119297>jews drink human blood from the child’s penis during bris>Africans practice voodoo and eat their enemies / rival tribesmenOutside of that I don’t think humans are cannibals at all, unless you’re climbing some uncharted mountain and get caught in an avalanche and have to eat your dead comrade to survive.
>>5119297>bro they’re just like humansWe have to maintain nation scale societies or be killed/enslaved by people who doOrca are atomized tribes of 80 IQ aquatic retards that our rich scientists like to jerk off to and may as well be any other fishWhatever is natural or apparently logically the same between humans and orcas, morally, isn’t. What is acceptable or advantageous behavior for an orca is not and will never be conducive to human life. >>5119314That aside, habitual cannibals tend to be conquered or killed by other humans and only survive in isolation because humans dont want to be eaten, and prion diseases are a bitch.
