Blame the fallen angels, nephilim, and all their followers for using snake imagery.
>>
>>5126764
You mean non-pagans? They're associated with healing (and other things, granted...) by the Greeks, the Hindus are generally favourable to them, one of the Aztecs' main deities was a snake; Abo creator god etc... As opposed to the Abrahamics...
>>
Europe only has a couple of venomous snakes, so I imagine the cultures that DO treat snakes as something to be feared and revered, not hated.

How can I get that level of charisma
>>

and abrahamics stole everything from the pagans, like the germans, middle easterns, they usually have a story of a giant evil snake, tiamat, jormgandr

Don't they bite and inject venom?

>>5126842
northern europe has like one singular venomous snake and thats the common adder that isnt aggressive
but then you have stuff like bears and wolves that are aggressive and DID cause problems for settlers, but bear worship is really common in early european religion
maybe it really is just early europeans not being terrified of snakes like everywhere else
>>
>>5126762
Weren't our early ape ancestors frequently preyed upon by giant snakes? I thought that's where we became hardwired to be wary of snakes from.

no, it was cats

bro, snakes just want to eat mice and nap on warm rocks.
Yeah, they can fuck you up with the tools nature gave them but so can many other species that don't get nearly as much shit as snakes.
As a matter of fact, snakes are so conflict-averse they independently evolved multiple warning displays to get non-prey animals to fuck off without having to bite them.

I am an unrepentant snake hater. I deeply believe that the only thing snakes deserve is complete genocide. As a child, I thought they were God’s only mistake, an abomination cast down to crawl the earth for eternity. But God doesn’t make mistakes. It’s simple, really: snakes are His way of separating the wheat from the chaff. It’s simple: if you like snakes despite their hideous, slithering presence, you’re more likely to be in league with Satan himself. Just like enjoying anal sex with a woman means that deep inside you are a flaming homosexual. You know this to be true, and that’s why you participate in defending these abominations and create heathen threads such as this. You need to validate each other’s opinions with mental gymnastics to shield your petty minds from the light of the truth.

Burn all snakes. Wipe them off the face of the earth and rehabilitate the weird cult which defends them.

May God have mercy on us.

>I deeply believe that the only thing snakes deserve is complete genocide. As a child, I thought they were God’s only mistake
Id rather have Snakes still on our planet than cockroaches, ticks, bedbugs, mosquitos, botflies, and shitbulls. There are far worse disgusting and hideous disease carrying pests you can choose from to wipe out. You're out of your mind.

The fun thing is that Yahweh himself has a snake motif across the OT. He miracles Moses' staff into a snake, he makes a winged snake rod to repel wild animals, and the seraphim are described in non-canon texts as dragon-like

To be fair the aztec snake deity wasnt considered to be a super great guy overall

Snakes are both good and bad in egyptian and early jewish thought. Snakes just get bad rep over the devil accusations from genesis, but have positive roles later on. Healing bronze snakes and flaming angels similar to snakes are mentioned. And the egyptians had the symbol of chaos as a snake too. It's nuanced, I for one believe it's zoroastrian influence of reptilian evil that permeated this.
>>5132364
Correct, people are just dumb and hate on the coily fellas over refusing to see they're woven in complex motifs and not affixed to evil.

They killed a lot of our ancestors in the past. They strike fast, if venomous it will be absolutely lethal every time. We often slept in caves for shelter, snakes crawl up while we sleep and strike. Snakes, as you know, often have great camoflague. Many will have been struck while foraging for berries and nuts and such. Of course we will grow an inate fear of them.
Unpredictable and absolutely deadly.
>>
>>5132699
Also would like to add that it's similar reason for the great fear of spiders. They lurk where we don't want them to, can have extremely potent venom that will destroy us if bitten
>>
>>5132700
>>5132699
This.
Snakes, spiders & mosquitoes are our worst enemies.
Big cats killed a lot of us too, enough we still have a residual fear reflex inbuilt, but we get to moderate it by exposition to smaller cats. Our brain knows a small kitty can't kill us, we can't judge a snake or a spider on size or shape alone, there's too many.
>>
>>5130186
>>5130192
Why do people antagonize reptiles so much? Outside extremely venomous snakes and the crocs, the vast majority of them are totally harmless. And even infamous ones like gila monsters or snapping turtles requires you to be a total retard to actually get bit by either one of them.
>>
>>5132700
>>5133131
Fear of spiders isn’t instinctual. There are exactly zero dangerous spiders where our primate ancestors evolved
>>
>>5133145
>There are exactly zero dangerous spiders where our primate ancestors evolved
A very cursory search suggests that is wrong, there are Latrodectus indistinctus at least. It doesn't need to be fatal, if the bite is consistently very unpleasant.
>>
>>5133218
Latrodectus aren’t particularly dangerous even on an individual basis, let alone in terms of presenting an evolutionary pressure to avoid spiders. Only Phoneutria sp and Atracids are anywhere close to that sort of threat
>>
>>5132428
Crows are associated with death because they are scavengers. After a battle crows would show up and get busy with the bodies. So its less that they are harbingers of death and more that they come to places where a lot of death just happened. But when billy the medieval spearman sees a crow under normal circumstances he thinks of the time he saw all those crows after a bloody battle and associates it with death.
>>
>>5133265
>Latrodectus aren’t particularly dangerous even on an individual basis
No, but a bite will be very unpleasant, and will often cause visible skin ailments.
>>5133611
No they aren't, snakes still kills way more per year than the next large animal (almost all in India).
>>
>>5133994
>almost all in India
okay but indians are retarded, remove them from the statistic and snakebite fatalities drop to like 5k worldwide lmfao
>>
>>5126762
Just like the so-called devil or satan. According to the bibble, G*d killed over 20 million people, Satan only killed 10, a drop in the bucket or in other words nothing. Yet the so-called devil is the epitome of evil and the entity that killed +20mil is the le good guy. Tell this to a christcuck and watch his brain break and hell cope by saying "god works in mysterious ways" or some other nonsense babble

I hate all the retards who say "its genetic to fear snakes because muh africa" as if our actual greatest predators weren't various morphs of cats and dogs, desperate to attach any kind of science to global christian brainwashing

babies aren't afraid of snakes, it's been proven.
>>
>>5133144
low iq retards, theyre the same retards that think that reptiles dont have emotions when theyre just literally and physically incapable of expressing emotion in an obvious manner outside of huffing and puffing before striking

normalshits aren't human, they lack that part of their soul
>>
>>5134676
>per capita?
You mean, per snake? Huh, that's a good question, I guess. I'd assume no, there has to be a lot more individual venomous snakes than hippos, right?
>>5134763
Babies don't function well at most tasks.
Fear doesn't need to be specifically about which were our "greatest" predators, but which threats were best answered through fear. Snakes, many insects and rats triggers a different reaction from some random midsize predator you might come upon. What trigger fears is different in each cases, and so is the response.
>>5134714
>okay but indians are retarded
Indeed, indeed.
>remove them from the statistic
As long as they are there, we should be honest about how dumb as fuck the human animal can become, and take account of them in our statistics. If there are things to be fixed, its not through delusion, but through actual understanding and the subsequent actions.

>>5134857
Then why do monkeys eat spiders instead of being scared of them retard?
>>
>>5135084
we should also be terrified of large birds as well considering our arboreal ancestry
>>
>>5135085
Bird would have been a threat to small monkeys but not as much to great apes. Spiders are not a threat to either of them though
>>
>>5135084
Different primates havedifferent phobias. Madagascar monkeys have a phobia of birds because of a giant eagle that used to live there for instance.
All primates have a strong fear response.
>>
>>5135212
Its because primate brains are larger than most other animals, specifically the amygdala which regulates fear
>>
>>5135212
Arachnophobia isn’t ancestral to any primate though
>>
>>5136168
despite our best efforts there are still birds big enough to snatch human babies and nobody is afraid of them

So?
Some part of the population acquired it at some point long ago, and it backtracked its way into most of the European population eventually. It starts early enough and shows up regularly enough to strongly suggest it at least is the expression of some form of natural, inborn reflex.
I have it. The earliest nightmare I remember (was probably ~5) was waking up in my bed covered up by giant ants, and me walking in my parents garden house and at some point all the fancy flowers morphed into creepy spiders. A year later I remember being terrified by some garden snake I walked across.
I don't particularly like snakes, but I can handle one, I like ants, their cool. But fuck spiders.
No logic to it. But I'd rather renounce my parents than ever make peace with spiders. It'll be like that my entire life. No changing it.
And fuck spider apologists.
You all get the oven.
But more seriously, why does having such an inborn reaction to spiders requires somehow that this comes from the very deepest of our common ancestry? Couldn't it have come much later?
>>
>>5126955
Cats are basically snakes with fur and legs.
>>
>>5137438
>Some part of the population acquired it at some point long ago, and it backtracked its way into most of the European population eventually
No it didn’t. Europe is the last place where a fear of spiders would evolve
>It starts early enough and shows up regularly enough to strongly suggest it at least is the expression of some form of natural, inborn reflex
It doesn’t. There are studies showing that there is no early development of a fear response towards spiders
>The earliest nightmare I remember (was probably ~5)
That is more than enough time to learn the fear from your parents
>Couldn't it have come much later?
That would require an evolutionary pressure to fear spiders. That pressure doesn’t exist when there are no dangerous spiders in these places. Not to mention it would have to have taken place in an evolutionary instant for what you’re suggesting
>>
>>5126839
Maybe it's spread to that many places because it's a real story that really happened. Some guy tells about it to another guy, that one to the next and so on. It's no surprise it's found elsewhere and not the Bible only.
>>
>You know a lot of people said it, so it probably happened
Listen to yourself
Think about how stupid you sound
>>
>>5137475
>That pressure doesn’t exist when there are no dangerous spiders in these places
Again with this. There are deadly spiders in Africa.
>>
>>5138010
No there aren’t. There are medically significant spiders, not dangerous spiders. Widows aren’t dangerous
>>
I like the snake cult origin of consciousness theory
It's obviously completely unprovable and much too 'cute' in how everything works out, but it makes such a tidy picture, I want the world to work like that, with links between concepts across enormous stretches of time that can explain everything if only you're clever enough.
>>
>>5126813
>nuh-uh, the Christians are the real bad guys!!!

>>5138010
Not a single person in all of recorded history has died from a spider bite in Africa
