Barn cats: I dont really care for cats in general. they stink, they (housecats) get on food prep/seving surfaces. there are a number of other aspects about them i dont like but in fairness, are not exclusive to cats. they shred things, carry toxoplasmosis, ringworm and break shit & are unpredictable in bite and claw.we have some barn cats. we have never seen a live mouse near the house or rabbit barn. when wife went to vaccinate cats last year she was severely bitten. sunk its teeth all the way to the gums in her hand. today, it was my turn; had to catch the same fucking cat and she shredded my right hand and arm, got two pretty deep/long slashes on my left and sunk her teeth through my pants into my leg in 3 places.we keep antibiotics on hand, so I'm taking 5 days of cephlexan, took 20 min to stop the bleeding and another 15 to wash, alcohol & iodine the aftermath.she is the worst of the bunch. she got loose before we could fix her 2 years ago. she had kittens, but at least we have socialized and are adopting them out. we have tried to catch/trap her since. finally got her tonight at cost of blood and the the fucking cunt escaped.I have great respect & affection for our shepherd dog. I enjoy our rabbits. I quite like our sheep. I really dislike the cats... intensly.

After 8 years full grown feral colony all incestuous lots of dead cats and cannibalism and they still had rats big ones. The ones that got out would attack my chickens and kept showing up at neighboring farms so we wiped out the colony. Barn cats are mostly an excuse to not deal with ferals until it becomes someone else's problem.

House mice evolved alongside cats and a myriad of other predators, they’re well adapted to buffering mortality from predators. Their populations are controlled by food availability and climate more than anything else
Taco Bell is moving 400 miles, to another state. not our problem anymore. MIL needed/wanted a barn cat. FIL is a veterinarian. solves multiple issues. she gets fixed and my in-laws get barn rodent control... until the coyotes eat her. here she had coyote protection via the shepherd. in-laws don't have a dog. best of luck to her.
Minks and ferrets are better for rodent control.

God also made cats to never leave the desert where they mostly eat bugs and then get eaten by jackals. Cats were domesticated by pagans and devil worshipers because they thought they were magic and do not belong here. Dogs were created by god and given to early man to help him and do belong here.
i like cats as pets but i really cannot justify their presence outdoors full stop. they should be kept inside or lose all protections and be treated as any other pest.of course this will never happen because they trigger something primal in the brains of women but c'est la vie
